re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread
My AoD replacements arrived today, despite never having gotten a shipping notice. Sweet.
Just for reference for people buying it in the future and wondering if they got the corrected discs: looking at the small print on the bottom of the discs, right before the run times, there's a "-V2" shown on the corrected discs that aren't on the originals.
Edit:...though there are reports from Shout that the first 600 copies of the corrected Disc 1 don't have the "-V2"

Mine arrived yesterday, and both had the -V2 on the discs.

Yeah... My disc 1 doesn't have the -V2 on it. It does have a 2 after BVDL-1233260B1 instead of 1 on the underside of the disc along the inner ring. Apparently that also marks the corrected ones.

Give them to somebody that doesn't care about a relatively small amount of missing footage that doesn't affect the movie as a whole.

For how minor the issues are, and the fact that I usually, if not always, watch the director's cut anyway, I wouldn't even have bothered getting the replacement discs, except Shout made it so freaking easy.

I have the Army of Darkness replacement discs, but I can't tell exactly what's supposed to be different in the International Cut. Could someone please give the exact time stamps and tell me what to look for?

The Dungeonmaster is a ton of fun for you fans of the Eighties. Richard Moll stars as the evil villain.

I know that there are certain BD manufacturers who rarely have sales and/or their stuff isn't very much discounted, percentage wise, when they do. Is Shout Factory one of those?
I ask because my local FYE (Torrance, CA) is closing, and they have a few in-stock. I'm wondering if 40% off is something to try to jump on, or no big deal? Thanks for any info.

When Barnes and Noble has their semi annual 40 percent off sale, you can use a 20 to 30 percent coupon on top plus member discount in store.

Thanks again for the reply! It sounds like Shout Factory is one of the manufacturers I remembered, but waiting for the B&N sale would still be a better strategy, unless these are reduced further to maybe 70% off. I appreciate the help.

Deepdiscount once in a blue moon will run a Scream Factory sale coincident with a coupon. That is usually a good time to take advantage.

Just noticed this double-feature Blu-ray for EDGE OF SANITY and the exceedingly rare DESTROYER on Amazon Canada set for release January 1st, but can't find an equivalent listing on Amazon U.S. or Shout's own site. Or am I not looking hard enough?

The Serpent and the Rainbow
Street Date: February 23, 2016
After a couple of street date delays, we can finally share with you more concrete news about our upcoming Blu-ray release of Wes Craven’s underrated and thought-provoking voodoo film. We thank you for being patient. This of course is a bittersweet release for us due to the passing of Mr. Craven (who we still mourn). Originally, Craven was set to be involved in the project and the title was scheduled for Aug of last year. This had to be pushed back because of reasons we now all know.
We were then set for its new street date in Jan. However, when we saw the HD transfer that was provided to us, we were not satisfied and felt strongly that our release deserved better (it being our last Craven film). Therefore, we moved the date to 2/23 so that we could create an all-new HD transfer from the inter-positive film element. Serpent and the Rainbow has never looked better and we hope you will agree.
Extras will include:
NEW audio commentary with actor Bill Pullman
NEW The Making of The Serpent and the Rainbow featuring new interviews with actor Bill Pullman, author Wade Davis, director of photography John Lindley and special makeup effects artists Lance Anderson and David Anderson
Original Theatrical Trailer and TV Spot
Still Gallery

Director Robert Zemeckis was recently kind enough to do a new interview for us! Because of this and since we have plenty other extras in progress (to be announced at a later date) we have upgraded the release to “Collector’s Edition” status--meaning it will now have a limited-edition slipcover added.
As thrilled as we are (and suspect you are too) about the new “CE” status, we unfortunately will not be able to create new key art on this release due to complicated legal and likeness issues. Therefore, the classic home video art you see here will be on the slipcover and front-facing on the packaging wrap. The reverse wrap will sport the “purple potion” original theatrical artwork.

New extras are still in progress and will be announced in full at a later date. Purists of all things retro take note: The original theatrical key art - the classic Breakfast Club poster art - will be on the reverse wrap of the packaging.)
Street Date: April 12th, 2016
Extras are still in progress and will be announced in full at a later date but…we can confirm some now that should please many: New interviews with John Carpenter and his wife Producer Sandy King Carpenter and a brand-new segment of “Horror’s Hallowed Grounds” (with its host Sean Clark) are already shot and completed!
The Boy
March 1st, 2016
Synopsis: In the summer of 1989, nine-year-old Ted Henley (Jared Breeze) and his father John (David Morse) are the proprietors of the Mt. Vista Motel, a crumbling resort buried in the mountains of the American West. Since Ted's mother left, John has drifted into despondency – leaving Ted to fend for himself. In this isolation, unchecked by the bounds of parenting, Ted's darker impulses begin to manifest. The arrival of a mysterious drifter, William Colby (Rainn Wilson), captivates young Ted and the two form a unique friendship – setting the stage for Ted's final, unnerving metamorphosis.

The 1973 snake-a-thon flick called SSSSSSS (don't say it, hiss it) will be landing on Blu-ray for the first time on April 26th! The film stars Strother Martin ( Cool Hand Luke), Heather Menzies ( Piranha), Reb Brown ( Howling II) and Dirk Benedict ( Battlestar Galactica). Speaking of Dirk, we can confirm already that we have an all-new interview with him that will be included on the disc! (No other news however if other bonus content is coming at this time.)
No Release Date
Let's get the 2016 party started with news of an upcoming release! The rare and somewhat forgotten 1972 Universal thriller You'll Like My Mother will be joining the Scream roster on blu-ray near Mother's Day. (Of course.) The film stars Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke Astin, Rosemary Murphy ( To Kill a Mockingbird) and Richard Thomas ( The Waltons). No word on exact street date or if any extras will be planned but keep an eye out for updates later on in the winter.

If you like 80's samurai movies, Scream's new Ghost Warrior/The House Where Evil Dwells double-feature BD is a great buy.
Ghost Warrior is definitely in the mold of Cannon's fun b-movies. The House Where Evil Dwells actually received a new transfer this time.
