Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Scream Factory's October slate includes UHD upgrades of:

The formerly Best Buy exclusive (right?) steelbook of The Blob is getting a wide release too.

On the Blu-ray side, there's also:

Per MifuneFan on the other forum, it looks like Shout might be moving their site exclusive-type titles to be with Allied Vaughn/MovieZyng. They’re the go-to folks for MOD titles (DVD, BD, and UHD) and are probably best known for their work with Warner Archive.

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet, but these September (?) titles are up on MovieZyng now. It’ll be interesting to see if we get wider distribution with these types of titles now.

I thought I had put em all. I guess the photos didn't upload.

Definitely glad I didn't cave on the pricey Warner disc of Bones and All.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Shout gets it with the Hong Kong stuff. More movies in a set. Period. Hopefully that Supernatural Shockers set being a Vol. 1 means they’ve bulk-bought the rights to kinds of pictures the other labels – for whatever reason – see fit to only dole out to us one at a time at a higher price. Even better, they threw in the complete EROTIC GHOST STORY trilogy, unlike a certain UK label that wanted us to buy the first film twice. Of course, that’s mitigated by the inclusion of only one of the SEX & ZEN trilogy (you just can’t win with these companies!). Nice to see that they ported over the alternate scenes and opening for Robotrix that were on the UK release from 88 Films, but again, mitigated by not including the behind-the-scenes HK TV show that 88 included in their standalone EROTIC GHOST STORY Blu-ray.

DISC ONE: SEX AND ZEN (1991)

That Supernatural Shockers set looks like some of the sleaziest trash ever put to video.

This is like the classier, better-made trash from Hong Kong, being from big studio Golden Harvest and all. The real sleaziest trash from there is further down the ladder, like the stuff Error 4444 has been putting out, and there might still be a couple of rungs below that stuff.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

Question Josh, if I want to get rid of a fair amount of full size tubes and Shout Factory sized poster tubes that are stored under my bed and in a few other places in my bedroom by getting a big binder (aka, a photo album for posters), do I need to worry about dust/debris making its way into the binder? I presume not, and unless my room becomes as hot as a damp sauna the posters should not degrade in the binder and look great for many years to come.

The binder I have (Baroque) has a zipper all along the outside so dust isn't an issue.

Even without the zipper, dust probably wouldn't be much on an issue unless you have a really dusty home.

I checked out that GOLDEN HARVEST SHOCKERS set at various places and found pretty big price swings. Shout has it for $120, Amazon for $100, and both Diabolik and Grindhouse Video are $77. Based on Shout’s $138 list price, even if it did turn up in a 50% off sale down the road (do they even discount that much anymore?), it would be $69, so not much less than the two indie retailers right up front. I’d guess that Amazon will eventually come down into this price range too. Tempting.

Shout has it down to $85.99, which is still higher than Diabolik and Grindhouse, but you get a poster and free shipping.

It's nice but I already have the non steel 4K and the SF blu release. Counting earlier formats buying 5 times is enough!

Unless they found the OCN of the uncut Silent Night Deadly Night there's no need to buy it again. I'm definitely interested in getting The Faculty.

It says the 4k disc is the theatrical version only. When Scream Factory released the 2 disc bluray they said Sony looked everywhere through their vaults and couldn't find the uncut negative. To be fair they did a good job in remastering the uncut scenes the best they could to the rest of the movie

I think I’ve seen Silent Night, Deadly Night a few times. Both times I found it boring. I remember the VHS had something that said “The Version that was Banned in Theaters!”

Also, interesting choice that they use Chuck Norris to sell Return of the Dragon on the artwork for the Golden Harvest set.

Re: The One and Only Shout! Studios (and Scream Factory!) Blu-ray Thread

I have never seen Silent Night, Deadly Night so I think it is time to finally pick it up. Far And Away has always been a favorite film so I will be getting it for sure, I have the first Golden Harvest box on order so I will see how much I like those films before deciding on the second box.
