Hopefully that gets the ball rolling for Brazil on Blu-Ray (assuming it's not already in the works).
We do hope to re-release this film on Blu-ray in 2011 or 2012 but don't have an exact date set, so please stay tuned! |

I totally forgot to vote for This Sporting Life...but at least someone did.
Hasn't Rashomon been played for sometime now? And what about Le Samurai...do they still have the rights to that one? |

A new Rashomon transfer? Okay I'll use that as an excuse to say it again, bring out more of Kurosawa's stuff immediately. Especially Ikiru.

I like the poster that was used for the recent theatrical rerelease: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yxzBaPkfHd...forwebsite.jpg |

Whoah. That looks like it was painted on a wall or something, really nice. That middle white streak is pretty interesting too.

Was Down By Law also re-done? Now that would be cool. |

From the February 2012 Newsletter:
https://i3.createsend1.com/ei/r/41/8...basketball.jpg File Name - "wacky basketball" Hoop Dreams? |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Note the color and the brand.
I'm guessing "And Everything is Going Fine" and/or "Swimming to Cambodia" |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
If it is for Gray I imagine it will at least include the two Soderbergh films (And Everything Is Going Fine plus Gray's Anatomy.)
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Yes, it's definitely a Spalding Gray reference and nothing to do with Hoop Dreams. I, too, will guess SWIMMING TO CAMBODIA

Hoop Dreams was shot on SD Betacam, so I don't think it's going to be a priority for BD release.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I got Anatomy Of A Murder & World On A Wire in the mail today.
Really happy about it, but the AOM book had a little damage. I'm not sure if I should email Criterion or Amazon (probably Amazon). Btw, In the past week, I watched Tiny Furniture (which I really enjoyed), Three Outlaw Samurai (Fun), Billy Liar (which I'd recently acquired) and The Moment Of Truth (which was gorgeous and mesmerizing - Very Highly Recommended). |

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I have the Third Man CC BD, and from time to time I'll check the prices on Amazon just to see what it's doing. I don't know if I could ever get myself to sell it since I know I'd never get it back if I did. But wow at the prices now. I didn't even know that it went up that much, especially for the used ones. That is just crazy. I'm so glad I bought mine when it first hit the market.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Yeah I've learned my lesson with The Third Man. As long as the blu-rays don't start going OOP at a high rate, I've decided I was getting them as soon as there was an announcement.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
When I bought my copy I bought one for my Dad as well. He didn't end up getting a blu-ray player at the time so I sold his copy for a small profit. Wish I hung on to it.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Wow, I had no idea the CC of The Third Man was selling for so much. Still, I don't think I could part with my copy - it's an excellent film, and the bonus features make it quite collectible.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Goddamn...I'd want to sell it for that price for sure. Buuuuuuuuuut....I'm not parting w/ TTM. It holds great personal value to me. That...and it's a CC BD.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Glad I bought my Third Man blu when I did. I picked it up maybe 6 months ago on eBay for about $60 used. Now, if the DVD gets up that high, I'll part with that and keep my blu-ray.
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I paid $13 for The Third Man CC BD during a B&N sale. :-P
Still waiting for Rushmore, Godzilla, and 12 Angry Men to ship from the Criterion sale. Someone remind me to buy The Killing next time a sale comes around because I seem to keep forgetting to buy it. I really want them to release the other Anderson films on BD... especially Steve Zissou... but they probably already know that. :) |
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Yeah I have one still. I actually bought another new one (for $13 at BN) and sold it for $45 a couple years ago...maybe I should have held onto it. Used copies of Ran are also pretty expensive. I have one, never viewed, but again, I probably won't part with it.
And yeah RobLutter, definitely get The Killing! Great movie, and it comes with Killer's Kiss! They really should have touted the double feature aspect more. |

can't wait to get it. Never got it on DVD. Time to make up for that on BD.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Just a thought, but what are the chances of films not yet released by Criterion and available their on their Hulu channel ending up released on BR (or DVD)?
Some notable examples include Hitchcock's Foreign Correspondent and Breaker Morant, both original studio releases OOP (DVD for former and Blu-Ray for latter) and not yet released by Criterion, inter alia. |

It looks as though Schlossberg has now also licensed Breaker Morant to Criterion (though it's not part of the Caidin package)

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
I'm really waiting on getting all, I believe, 18 Zatoichi films that CC has on BD at some point. I'd buy the whole damn lot of them.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Someone at Blu-ray.com forums is guessing (quite correctly it seems given the screenshot he posted) it is Danny Boyle's "Shallow Grave".

Sweet.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
just noticed this but HULU has Chaplin's The Circus on there. It expires in 2 days. Never seen it..fucking great.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
man i hope that's SHALLOW GRAVE
|
re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread
Shallow Grave was one of Criterion's hints in January, so the capture shouldn't be a big surprise.
