I've been hoping for that to happen ever since I first heard of it via a feature on the Band of Outsiders DVD. I've yet to see it but I'm sure I'd like it from all the clips I've seen.

Cherbourg would look and sound absolutely gorgeous on Blu-ray. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Does anyone know if the hard shell replacement cases have been issued for 400 Blows and Marienbad?
If yes, has anyone actually seen them at retail?
Thanks.

And I'm unaware of a Darjeeling Express, so this may be error on Amazon's part (in that case I think you know what this should be)...

fuck, two movie I want. I usually don't buy Criterions, but I think i'm going to fold. Black Orpheus will look awesome on blu. The DVD already looked good - I thought I was watching a movie that took place during the 1970s, not 1959. With the blu-ray release, I think it's going to make the film time travel even further, maybe to the 1980s!
I usually don't buy documentaries, but Crumb better have some pretty good extras. I don't actually care about the movie being in 1080p, I just want good extras for that one. I wonder if it will come with some sketchbook - that would be nice. One of my favorite artists! (see half of my avatar.)

These are both going to be awesome. I want all of the August releases! Hopefully I can pick up the other Kurosawa Eclipse set in July at Barnes & Noble.

Hoping for a Pialat also on blu-ray announcement. A little less excited about this month's titles, especially when we know what's coming for the next couple of months (Seven Samurai, etc.) -- none of this month's titles hold the sheer excitement for me as previous month's announcements have. Anyway, I'll definitely be checking out the Sternbergs. Black Orpheus should look amazing in blu.

Glad to see Black Orpheus getting a much needed upgrade. Crumb is certainly a curious choice for HD.

So Crumb will have:
•New, restored high-definition digital transfer, approved by director Terry Zwigoff, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray edition
•Two audio commentaries, one from 2010 with Zwigoff, and one from 2006, featuring Zwigoff and critic Roger Ebert
•Outtakes and deleted scenes
•Stills gallery
•PLUS: A booklet featuring an essay by critic Jonathan Rosenbaum
Zwigoff told Gary Groth in TCJ that he'd shot footage with Robin Williams - who he said was an enthusiastic fan of Crumb - but could never find a place for it in the movie. Hoping that ends up part of the deleted scenes, but otherwise the extras seem thin.

Just got back from dvdPlanet (physical store) with the blu-rays of M and Yojimbo/Sanjuro.
They had M for $24 and and the Y/S box for $45 - both less than they were charging for the DVD equivalent.

Anybody find Stagecoach at a B&M today? I tried Fry's and Best Buy to no luck.
If you did find it, what did you pay?

Nope. I checked my BB that puts Criterions out early (they had Walkabout out last week) but didn't have any luck, but interestingly enough they did have the Brakhage set on the shelf. Might try again in a day or two.
