Amazon reveals August and/or September slate (?) -- Hold on to your wallets kids:

Antichrist
Videodrome
Seven Samurai

And I'm unaware of a Darjeeling Express, so this may be error on Amazon's part (in that case I think you know what this should be)...

The Darjeeling Express

(And the afore mentioned The Thin Red Line.)

I was hoping that The Thin Red Line would have a $59.95 retail price...then I would know it had to include a 4 hour plus director's cut.

I guess I will just have to wait a few more days to find out.

Woah. Even though Darjeeling is his worst (IMO), I'll be grabbing that Anderson film. Now where the hell is Rushmore?

Videodrome...maybe. I rented it for $.99 on VuDu and after I watch it I'll make my decision. Nice to see more mainstream titles from Criterion instead of artsy-fartsy stuff .

Was it called "The Darjeeling Express" instead of "The Darjeeling Limited" in some other country, or is that another movie? I can't find it on IMDB.

Great news. I think The Darjeeling Limited is one of his best movies. Terrific news all around.

For those interested, Walkabout is $24.99 right now on Amazon. Found it when I put in a pre-order for Thin Red Line.

Absolutely loved The Darjeeling Limited. That'll also be quite a looker in HD.

The Playlist Nation seems to think all those previously mentioned Fall release titles are coming, as well.

From that link:

Also confirmed... a forthcoming BluRay of Stanley Donen's "Charade" with Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn.

Excellent...I've had it pre-ordered for a while at $34.99 (using a gift cert). Hopefully they automatically dropped the price for me as they usually do.

Although most of the BD titles now up for order have been open secrets or confirmed as coming for a while, I could not be more pleased to see The Thin Red Line officially on the way. Scratch that...I'm thrilled beyond belief!

I've got Walkabout and the July Powell/Pressburgers on pre-order now...factor in the upcoming sale plus The Thin Red Line and Criterion will get at least as much of my BD dollars this year as they did DVD dollars last year...which is to say quite a bit.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I'm so relieved Walkabout is finally seeing release. It's been almost two years now when Criterion announced their initial list of Bd films, and I thought they would end up losing the license before they got it out.

That said, $25 is still too much for me knowing that a couple of major sales are right around the corner. Even if you don't wait for the 50% off one, the B2G1 will average it out to under $22.

I've been slow on writing my review (nasty time at work), but good God, this is a gorgeous Blu-ray disc. It's not the traditional HD eye candy, no, but it's such a beautiful, beautiful film. What I wouldn't give to have Don't Look Now on Blu-ray too...

I'm in for Charade, glad I didn't purchase either of the two previous releases. Seven Samurai and Videodrome would have to include new video extras in order to entice me to triple-dip.

Not for me. I'd pay so much more than $25, if I had to.

I think I may have to upgrade to Blu for Antichrist.

That prologue is just so...

And The Darjeeling Limited too!

Really incredible news.

Charade
The Darjeeling Limited
The Thin Red Line

Criterion has announced so many "dream" titles.

^^^ Technically Criterion didn't announce these recent batch of BD's, it only hinted (strongly) that "Thin Red Line" and "Antichrist" were coming. Amazon pre-orders leaked the info about these new-to-Blu titles, Criterion didn't announce them (just confirmed it after the cat was out of the bag).

They also said that they've been working on The Seven Samurai for a while and had hoped to release it around the same time as Yojimbo/Sanjuro, but it required too much additional work.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I'm definitely in for Seven Samurai and The Darjeeling Limited. I suspect Videodrome will be added to my collection as well. I'm not sure about the rest... I'll probably rent the others first (as I haven't seen them). I've heard nothing but great things about Charade.
