Spaced was shot on Digital Betacam, PAL standard definition, unfortunately.

Hell yes, bring on Kurosawa. Still have a lot to watch (and read), but that's where the fun lies...

Spoiler:

Plus this reminds me I need to get the BD of High and Low.

Which would mean Fanny and Alexander but no 12 Angry Men. Looks like I'll be buying a whopping two titles this time around.

Hm, it'll only last 2 weeks? I've always remembered it being at least three weeks.

Looks like anywhere between 2 and 4 titles for me. Island of Lost Souls comes out a week before, and the Killing was released right after the last sale. Then I have a couple of titles in backlog that I might or might give a whirl. Just have to see I can wait on 12 Angry Men, no rush.

So you mean to tell me that Three Colours Trilogy won't be part of the deal since it's released on the 15th? 1 stinking day after. Really?

Probably intentional to cut it short before a Tuesday.

I doubt it's really only 2 weeks. It's always been 3 before, if I remember correctly. If not, they just lost more money.

dvdbeaver on ISLAND OF LOST SOULS

You really get the sense that this Blu-ray is representative of an authentic, film-like, presentation. No doubt the best we are ever likely to get digitally. Top marks.

That's seriously depressing if that's true. That was one of the ones I was planning to order during the sale...

I was just making a joke by quoting and amending Coral's post - since the Criterion sales always end on a Monday, there will always be titles released the next day that won't be included.

According to the CriterionForum, Criterion just confirmed in a discussion panel that they'll be releasing the "Apu Trilogy," "Anatomy of a Murder," "Shallow Grave," more films from Godard, a Hal Ashby film, and a Hollis Frampton set in the future.

Great news on Ray - he's criminally underrepresented in the U.S. Nice to know Anatomy of a Murder won't be a $35 bare-bones Twilight Time disc.
