Broadcast News would be a great candidate. The DVD is terrible, with a crappy non-anamorphic transfer.

Speaking of terrible DVDs, is there any chance Criterion could get a license for Quiz Show?

How about Fearless (Peter Weir)? That DVD's over 10 years old and is P&S.

I figured with Bridges Oscar win this year, maybe that'll give WB reason to finally re-release on DVD and do it up in BD as well... or at least license it out to Criterion.

Um, how about Badlands? Days of Heaven is already on Criterion Blu and DVD, with The Thin Red Line on the way.

I think there were strong rumors of Badlands coming to Criterion, so I wouldnt be surprised to see it happen.

I always said I'd pick up Malick's first 3 films on Blu-Ray if/when they come out... and to have 1 already on Criterion (Days of Heaven) and another (TTRL) on the way is pretty amazing as it stands. Throw a Criterion Badlands into the mix and I'd be blown away.

^Nice! A thousand times better than that previous cover someone posted. Did they have a confirmed release date, because Amazon still shows nothing?

Love it. I guess I thought right when I had a suspision the other artwork may not be the one since it was taking a long time for Criterion to post it.

This new artwork is up on the Criterion site now as well.

I think Badlands is coming but at this point it might not be till 2011.

That artwork is amazing.

Not seen The Thin Red Line but have been wanting to for a while now. I'm thinking this new BD might be the best way to watch it for the first time (baring going to the cinema).

Just a reminder, for folks that don't venture into the bargains forum: Barnes and Noble's Semi-Annual Criterion Collection sale should be starting on Tuesday of next week (7/13), both in-store and online. B&N members will be able to pull a few strings and get the Blu-rays for $13-14 (with $5 off coupons), while non-members should be able to get them hassle-free for $16-17 (Online: $19.99 - 10-15% coupon - 5% affiliate link).

Yes. 50% off all Criterions (single titles, boxsets, Janus, Eclipse, everything); online and in-store.

Members save an additional 10% in-store.

These two discounts stack with their many coupons (on-line and/or in-store), all meticulously cataloged by lasermovies in the B&N thread.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Criterion just announced on their Twitter feed that the sale begins now. I checked BN.com and all the prices are 50% off already.

Sadly, my wallet will not allow me to partake in this sale.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Hopefully this isn't clutter in the thread and if it is, I will promptly delete it...but can anyone name anything you'd label as a "Must-have" Criterion BD? - I did just order, Yojimbo/Sanjuro, Gomorrah, and Walkabout for my first Criterions ever. I'd appreciate any direction whatsoever.
