Fantastic. One of my favorite Jarmusch movies.

I got M from B&N the other day. It showed up with a crack on the top of the case so I contacted them about it. They told me not to worry and they shipped me another brand new one, no questions asked. Awesome customer service! I ordered Walkabout from them the other day so that should be here tomorrow or so. After that I'll place an order for Stagecoach with them on Tuesday as well.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

I just got M delivered to me here at work by UPS. I can't wait to get home and watch it (Never seen it before).

Also:
I know I probably missed the train on this one, but does anyone know if Criterion is still offering the replacement cases on their older Blu-Rays? I was going to take care of it months ago but I got busy and it completely slipped my mind.

Also, if anyone knows the email address I should contact about it, it would be greatly appreciated.

I've asked them about that recently and this was what they sent me....

"If you've received any Blu-rays in the digipack cases and would like to purchase plastic replacements, we offer replacement cases for the following titles:

THE THIRD MAN
THE LAST EMPEROR
THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH
BOTTLE ROCKET
CHUNGKING EXPRESS
THE 400 BLOWS
THE LAST METRO
EL NORTE
LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD

Please note that we cannot ship these cases outside of the United States and Canada. The cost for the replacement cases is $5 per case; this includes the cost of shipping. For multiple cases we offer a discount of $10 for the first two and $2.50 for each additional case beyond that (so, for instance, $12.50 for three cases).

To order the cases, simply make a payment to the email address [email protected] through PayPal, providing your mailing address and item(s) needed in the message field, and we'll send out the materials!"

Yep. They got rid of the additional 10% for members on online orders (It still applies for in-store purchases). Instead, they now give members free expedited (1-3 day) shipping online.

Thanks for that. I just finally said screw it and ordered the six that I need. I've been putting it off for a long time now. I'm sure it wont be a problem but I'll report back when I either hear back from them or when they just show up.

I still say that Criterion is the best company of this sort out there. Not only for the actual product, but for customer service as well. To this day when I get a CC DVD used somewhere and it either doesn't have the cover art or insert, or if it does but they're damaged or something, I can still email them and ask for whatever I need and they ship it all to me absolutely free. Just an incredible company in all aspects.

Agreed on their customer service. They forgot to send me a postage-paid return label for a defective disc, and gave me a $20 gift card by way of apology.

No problem, guys.

And I agree that their CS is amazing. I contacted them about purchasing some blank BD cases because the ones from Amazon keep arriving cracked. They replied acting all apologetic when it wasn't their fault, refused my offer to pay and sent me a few for free. And, they arrived within a week. Pretty damn amazing and rare these days. Good people for sure.

I want to take a tour in their offices cuz these people are amazing. Like....I'm amazed that they exist, seriously. The CS they have AND the quality of product they have is just amazing. They shouldn't exist actually. Not the way they do. I love you, CC..

I'm...sorta amazed people are thanking the company who released Blu-rays in crappy DigiPacks before they decided to switch to their own cases (which are just altered PS3 game cases) for selling them replacement cases. This stuff should be free since they decided to change things on everyone and they know how anal people get about their CC movies. But...ok.

I need a job (i.e, money) for the July B&N sale - I have about 15 discs I really really want.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

What's the July B&N sale? I know they had 50% off Criterion discs last July, right? But are they definitely doing it again this year?? For all Criterion titles?!

Well, crappy is your opinion, I quite liked the digipacks. Second, Criterion's clear cases are better then every other's blue cases.

Packaging issues aside, Criterion has surpassed my expectations in almost every way. I never thought they would be releasing so many titles on a consistent basis. The quality of movies with The Thin Red Line, Red Desert, and even Abbas Kiarostami finally getting a release, not just on DVD but on Blu-ray is very, very impressing.

re: The Criterion Collection 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

The cases are $5 each, and each case after the initial 2 are $2.50 each, so the total for 9 cases should be $27.50 shipped.

I got my By Brakhage Anthology today and to my horror, it is in a digipack. What gives with Criterion? Will there be replacement cases for these as well?
