It was hinted at, yes, with a rather blatantly obvious hint. And that was after they had posted a picture of Red on their Facebook which got people talking.

Perhaps the added attention on their FB means it will be announced for November. Hopefully it'll be part of the November B&N sale...

As for the latter part of your post, we're still waiting on Y Tu Mama Tambien (hopefully it'll be by the end of the year). Other films, such as Christopher Nolan's Following, were confirmed, yet never announced.

I think CC did a tease of Island of Lost Souls last month, which was followed by the announcement. I'd bank on Three Colors being announced for November with the hinting they've been doing.

probably...just hoping that the trilogy will only count as 1 release and they'll have a handful more rather than just a couple more.

I'm pretty sure they once had a clue for "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover," but nothing has been heard of it since.

^ personally I like to see Criterion release not only Cook, Thief, but other Greenaway films as well.

Looks like The Rules of the Game will be a part of the November line-up. Just received the following e-mail from Criterion:

"We will soon be announcing revised Blu-ray and DVD editions of Jean Renoir's masterpiece The Rules of the Game as part of our November lineup—we are replacing one supplement and creating new packaging.

Our original DVD edition will then be officially out of print. However, at this time we are offering it at a 65% discount from the suggested retail price at Criterion.com. (Use the promotion code REGLE at checkout.) We have a limited supply. We will fulfill orders as soon as we can."

I wonder what the extra they're replacing will be. I'd normally just wait and get the Blu-Ray (like I did with Solaris), but if it's something substantial, I might grab the DVD at that cost...

oh come on, how about The River - the colours alone scream out for a hidef release.

Who else has gone through the CC DVD list and tried to pick the likely future upgrades to BD? I did it again right after the B&N sale. Rules was one I figured they'd get to, as it's a seminal film. Nice to see it's coming in November. I don't own it, and have held off on the DVD, so I'll probably get the BD at some point.

And yes, I agree they should get around to The River as well. Glorious Technicolor looks great on BD.

There are films where it's an absolute given they will be updated at some point (Rules being one I figured they would do sooner or later, although I decided to grab the standard DVD at the current price, and if I decide to, I can wait for the next B&N sale for the Blu-Ray). But there have been some odd picks, too. I mean everybody was expecting films like Seven Samurai, The 400 Blows, The Seventh Seal, Videodrome, etc, at some point. How many were expecting My Life As A Dog, Fat Girl, or Yi Yi to come out this soon, especially over other films in the collection?

I wonder if Criterion can locate a more pristine negative for Tunes of Glory - there's a nasty reel scratch that mars the DVD edition

looks like RUSHMORE it is...this makes me excited for 2 reasons: i'm a fan and maybe people will finally shut the fuck up about it getting released.

I'm not going to stop complaining till The Aquatic Life with Steve Zissou is released on BD.

November's looking like a helluva month!

Rushmore is one of my favorite films of all time. I've probably watched my DVD fifty times. This makes my day.
