And looks like Amazon has cleared their discrepancy up and is selling it. I feared it could have been a last minute rights issue, but looks like it was just a day or two delay (and no delay on some copies, apparently) in stock.

So has anybody bought Bottle Rocket or Chungking Express from Barnes and Noble's website lately? I really want them but I don't want to have to spend the extra $10 for the new cases if they are still shipping out the old digipak versions.

Criterion have also (already) lost the rights to Pierrot Le Fou, which is sending both the Blu-ray and the DVD out-of-print soon. Confirmed via their newsletter:

Exactly what I was thinking. Now I'm in a rush to pick up Trafic at a good price!

Didn't wait till the last minute like I did with The Third Man. Ordered my copy of Pierrot le fou today. I don't have much interest in Criterion DVDs anymore, but I'm going to at least try and keep up with the OOP Blu-rays.

Pierrot Le Fou is mine now. Fuck. WTF is up w/ Criterion losing rights? I don't need this stress..lol.

I'm guessing I should get Alphaville as well. Kinda sad it's a barebones release but....guess it's mine now.

To have all of those go oop at the same time is brutal. I already have a few of them but now I've got to try and fit the rest into my budget. However, Amazon's price on Grand Illusion really sucks considering how long its been available.

I totally agree on the budget. NOBODY is forcing us to buy the films out of that list but we all know whomever else will do them will not give it the same care as CC did. Which practically forces us to get them. Fuck....

Exactly. Even if they get re-released, I'm sure all the great extras will be left behind.

It is all part of Studio Canal giving the rights to Lionsgate. After seeing what was done with Ran on Blu-ray this is not a good thing.

oh I know that. It just really ties up our hands and forces us to get the films we would later on but to only get them now. I was so glad I got The Third Man on Blu. PLF is now mine. And sadly I now have Alphaville too, I was waiting for CC to get that on Blu. Guess I'll be w/ the DVD for now till in some fatastical future where Criterion gets the films back and puts them on Blu or whatever new format is out.

Sadly is right. You should have ordered the R2 - it has a superior transfer, featurette, and lower price-tag.

How's this: leave the Criterion disc unopened and sell it for a nice profit on Amazon six months from now, and still order the R2 disc.
