I watched Thirst for the challenge a few years ago and thought it was great. I look forward to watching it again.

Now that I look at it closer it looks like this ends September 30th. I guess I fail my reading test.

LOL! I feel your pain as I had almost the same reaction. That "Oh my! I *need* to order this now!" feeling. And I only own the original Gamera as it's the only one I can tolerate - just barely.

While this is definitely scaled down from their normal festival, I've always wanted to attend and this will be a cool way to get a peek!

I just looked at the link. Looks like a great time. I might have to check some out.

Anything with Paul Naschy is entertaining.

Question about the checklist. Is there a limit on how many items a film can cover? For example, 60's, Vincent Price, A film based on Edgar Allen Poe, etc. I recall that the last time I did the full challenge, I aimed for a unique film for every slot in the checklist, but this year I just want to complete it as efficiently as possible because I have other goals. I have a list of specific films I want to get through.

The B-Movie TV Video On Demand app that Dimension X mentioned a few weeks back in the pre-challenge thread just launched:

Just did a quick browse through and looks to be a pretty solid selection of horror.

Wow. I only checked four services (Prime, Netflix, Shudder & Tubi), but apparently completely zoned out on Tubi. Even a couple of Shudder's snuck by me.

Thanks, I'll add those links to the list soon.

A plug for Shocker Internet Drive in at the Internet Archive. Over half of the double features are horror.

Thanks. I didn't think there'd be enough interest to post that link.

I'm a little disappointed with the new channel because there's nothing there that I haven't already seen (I was kind of expecting this since I watch the main channel so much), but they say they'll be adding more movies going forward, so I'll keep checking back.

Still, the selection is good enough that I saw a few horror movies I might re-watch during the challenge.

These two films are also available free on a Roku channel called "Silent Movie Channel" which says they don't host the films, but get them from "online sources (like YouTube)," so they may be available on YouTube as well.

Yeah, there’s some films I’ve seen throughout the year on the channel that would have been nice to have on demand (The Possessor, Necro Files, Magdalena, Shadows Run Black & Mad Mutilator) That is, if you’re into the sleazy kind!

I know his deals expired on some of the movies he had, so he can't show them anymore which is why most of the stuff there right now is PD.

Yesterday he said on Facebook that now that the channel had been approved by Roku he could add more "sleazy" stuff. Plus, he's worked out a deal with some distributor (not sure if that's just for the main channel, the VOD channel, or both), so he should be adding some new stuff soon.

I actually agree with you. It feels so rare to get a mainstream movie that focuses on Halloween that might be fun for the family.

Anybody else having issues updating your signature?

I tried to add 20 to the end of mine (as below) but it said I had too many lines.
I deleted every line except for Horror and Holiday and it still won't let me save it.

I just went and updated mine. I had that issue at first, but deleting all of the "blank" lines where I had hit return a few times did the trick for me.

Count me in with everyone above as I'm looking forward to Hubie Halloween. It looks fun from the trailer.

Would you consider I'm Thinking of Ending Things horror? It has Toni Collete, and she's on the checklist. I assumed it was, but imdb lists it as "Drama, Thriller" so that's a no? Is the imdb catagories the final say?

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

The unofficial early start has officially begun.

A few reminders...

Stats are not official - they won't count towards the official tally.

You voted, that was the outcome. So many ways to go about it - leave the unofficial days unnumbered, restart the numbering process once you hit the official start date, or simply don't participate during this time and wait until the usual start date. Of course you can always join the discussion regardless of what you do.

The official Themes, Subsets, and not-quite-finished Checklist do not count towards the period between 9/15 - 9/29. However, there is an unofficial themes list chosen by Random.org as mentioned above here.

Everything else is business as usual minus the Sunday night trivia questions. Just think of this as a 2-week warm-up or practice round.
