I've watched a couple of things on Netflix this weekend. They've really been hammering the Hubie movie. I've got to hand it to you guys who have watched it. That movie looks absolutely terrifying. I can't imagine having the fortitude to actually be able to sit through that. Brave souls to inflict that upon yourself. Brave souls. I think I'll steer way clear of it.

Gonna mow through the Insidious series today. I’ve seen the first multiple times. I’ve never seen three and four but I’ve heard bad things. At least they’re free.

Finally watched Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984) from the recent Shout Factory set. Great transfer.

Love this film. The kills are brutal and the film moves at a pretty solid pace.

I always laugh at this particular scene though,

I have never seen the movie Little Monsters, would this necessitate the use of a Wild Card?

Howie Mandell and not the one from last year? I feel like its on the fringe...it concerns monsters, but isn't heavy into horror. I wouldn't argue for using a wild card myself, I think its close enough, personally.

Enough folks commented about Phantasm II to convince me to give it a go. But now I can't find it to stream anywhere without paying for it. The strangest thing is that Hoopla has all the sequels available to check out except for part 2.

I think Phantasm II is a special case. Joe Bob's Christmas didn't have it in it either. I had to watch my disc instead of watching it as part of his show last year.

Part II has always had weird distribution issues. Plus they recast mike. That was odd.

I think Little Monsters should count - obviously it's a comedic mismatched buddy comedy but some darker elements and the fact that it has a monster would seem to make it count in my book.

Just watched the Arrow 4K of Pitch Black (2000). It was much better than I remembered, and looked great in 4K.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

My big accomplishment this weekend was finishing up the minimum for the subset. Not sure if I'll have a chance to get to all on the anniversary year day, though. I think it was one of the overall strongest or at least most consistent years. There were a number I'm surprised hadn't been used before.

if I stay at my current pace, I think I should beat my previous challenge high of 138 tomorrow or at least tie. Good times as always.

Possible theme idea for next year. Have we done something like it's all in a name - movies with a person's name in the title? You definitely have a ton in the franchises with Annabelle, Freddy, Jason, Victor Crawley, Chucky, Michael Myers. Then you have movies like Christine, May, Otis, Jacob's Ladder, Valerie and Her Week of Wonders, What Have You Done to Solange, Rosemary's Baby. Just an idea.

Sunday Night Trivia Question 4: The Return of Halloween

A return to Haddonfield.

Halloween is fast approaching and things are a bit chaotic this year. Despite being on a Saturday with a rare lunar event that would normally be of interest to one Conal Cochran
, we're still in the midst of a global pandemic, trick or treating has been cancelled for some, and the prospect of wearing a mask under a mask doesn't appeal to all. However, just like the town of Haddonfield, Illiniois , for many the worst part is the cancellation of the next Halloween ...movie.

In celebration of the franchise that turned William Shatner's head into a bleached, emotionless killing machine and introduced us to the Cult of Thorn...

Name 3 of your favorite films from the Halloween franchise.

That's it. There are no right or wrong answers. Randomly drawn. USA only please.

You're playing for the very well-stacked Hamilton Book Prize Pack #4
!
Selections include 25 titles of YOUR choice from AGFA, Arrow Video, Arrow Academy, Cult Epics, Dark Force, Mondo Macabro, Severin, Synapse, Scream Factory, Twilight Time and Vinegar Syndrome:

Congrats to all the winners so far!

Past couple of days have been slow for me but I am back on vacation and ready to watch as many movies as humanly possible over the next 6 days.

Just watched Blumhouse TV/Amazon's The Lie (2020).

It's been a minute since I've watched a film full of unlikable & dumb characters, yet here we are.

Looking over the lists it seems to be a bit of a banner year for Amityville, between everyone snapping up the OOP Scream set and the new Vinegar Syndrome release.

I don't try to knock them very often, but Blumhouse really knows how to stack movies with unlikable characters.

I finished the checklist with Puppet Master on Sunday. I should hit 100 today, and I'm definitely going to slow down after that. Fall has re-arrived in the south, at least for a day....

Oh, the checklist. I didn't even attempt it last year. I was fool enough to start filling it out last night based on what I've already seen. Not quite there but close enough that now I'm tempted to try to finish it.

For people who have watched The Walking Dead: The World Beyond Would it spoil anything from the other series if I say stopped watching around the Neegan time frame?

I watched Turkey Shoot last night and I may have a new favorite movie. It's definitely my favorite movie with a totally unexplained werewolf. I've never really delved to deep into Ozsploitation, I'm interested now, but think I might have peaked early with this one.

So far, it has been fairly self-contained, but it's supposed to lead into things. I'll be very vague to avoid spoilers, but it's supposed to lead back to a character that left the main show.

I would also say that based on the two episodes I've seen, it's the worst of the Walking Dead shows.

Great movie. But I have always preferred it's US retitle:

Ah, too bad. I was looking to get back into it perhaps with a bit less of the character baggage.
