I watched Love and Monsters (2020) tonight, among other things. It's really fun. I recommend it to anyone looking for something new. Survival/monster flick with some gorgeous scenery and a good sense of humor. I liked that the survivors colonies were tight family groups and there was a lot of love. It was a nice change-up from the usual "humanity is terrible" we see in most dystopian films. Cool monster design.

The Sunday Night Trivia Question: Part 3D
A return to 1980.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of polar opposites - the Friday the 13th franchise and Stanley Kubrick's The Shining. The former has spawned 12 films, several fan films, an 11-hour documentary, a video game, tours of Camp Crystal Lake, box sets, and much more. The latter went on to become a masterpiece of psychological horror, a constant source of anger for its author, an "inspiration" for Italian poster art, and it spawned a sequel (and soon to be subset) nearly 40 years later. It's also currently back in theaters from Fathom Events presented by Turner Classic Movies.
Name 3 of your favorite Friday the 13th Films.
Name 3 of your favorite psychological horror films.
That's it. There are no right or wrong answers. Randomly drawn. USA only please.
You're playing for the very well-stacked Hamilton Book Prize Pack #3!
Selections include 25 titles of YOUR choice from AGFA, Arrow Video, Arrow Academy, Cult Epics, Dark Force, Mondo Macabro, Severin, Synapse, Scream Factory, Twilight Time and Vinegar Syndrome:

Good luck.

Congrats hbsvb!
I've been working my way through The Simpsons "Treehouse of Horror" episodes. I started with the newest ones and am working my way backwards since I missed a few in the later seasons. Last night I hit the point when Marcia Wallace was alive, and it was so wonderful to hear Mrs. Krabappel's voice. She's featured in a really good segment that sends up Hitchcock's films in "Treehouse of Horror XX".

Congrats to another person who isn't me.
I'm still bopping along and will likely hit 100 today. That's always a nice hurdle to cross. I was fool enough to whisper the possibility of 200 to a couple friends before the start of the month. That's not going to happen! But I might beat my previous high.

I definitely did not have a super productive weekend on the challenge front. I spent several hours doing Fall yard work and making jack-o-lanterns with my wife this weekend. Which didn't bring me challenge progress, but it sure was a good way to spend some time with my wife in a time when we can't really go on vacation or do most fun things.

Congratulations HBSVB.
I also didn’t have a productive weekend, challenge wise. I spent time doing yard work most of the weekend. But we did manage to go for a drive and admire Halloween decorations. No way will I manage to hit 100 like I wanted, but this last couple weeks I’m buckling down and plan to finish strong.

Congrats hbsvb!!
I'm doing my average of 1 movie per night so I'm pretty happy. A nice mix of old favorites and first time views. I've been watching a lot of Shudder movies and for the most part they haven't let me down. Luckily, there have been no "I'll never get those 90 minutes back" moments..

I’ll probably hit my goal of 113. I probably should have set it higher, but with covid my work hours are unpredictable. I usually try to complete the checklist as soon as I can so I can spend the last week rewatching my favorites. There’s also an absence of Friday The 13th this year (except part 3 in 3D). I’m saving those for a marathon in November on Friday the 13th.
I’m really happy this year that I’m watching the entire subset. So many of those are first time watches. I have a ton of those this year. That unwatched movie pile is shrinking. This has been a really fun challenge for me this year. I’m glad some checklist suggestions were implemented and I liked sharing Eaten Alive with everyone even if it wasn’t a big hit.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
To say I'm winging it this year is an understatement! I went in completely unprepared with little time for advanced planning of my viewing schedule due to COVID life, just grabbing anything in the realm of horror to add to the unwatched pile. Add to that I've been doing a massive reorganization of my collection for the past few months after adding additional shelves and everything is currently either in boxes, plastic storage containers or just stacked out of the way somewhere, which has led to a few lost Blu-rays (Thirst & The Reflecting Skin are currently MIA). Still, I've somehow managed to stay on par with my usual goal, and I've honestly been having a blast for the most part.
I was having a good run until catching Extremity. Saw it in the 'Shudder Halloween' collection thinking it would be, well, Halloween-themed. It wasn't, just an extreme haunt borefest that makes Haunt interesting by comparison.

Borrowed Gallows from the library, but about 10 minutes into it I just couldn't take any more of the douchebag guy behind the camera. Between that and the fact that "found footage" isn't exactly one of my favorite genres, I turned it off and moved on to my next mistake (GotTF).

Somehow managing to smash through at a record pacing, having more freedom to 'work from home' has helped a lot, heading into #137 with Daybreakers in 4K. [Head Count & The Bad Batch were disappointing today but I really liked Killing God [Matar a Dios on Prime] and Gretel & Hansel].

I haven't been active in the chat this year as I've really dialed things back with the challenge from the previous decade or so. I'm averaging less than 2 movies a day partially because of not having as much time to watch and partially because I haven't wanted to push myself to watch more. I'm enjoying the pace. I hope everyone is having a good month so far!

I'm slowly realizing this year how important film is in my life, especially with how this year is going with COVID-19 & Wildfires in Northern California.
I've slowly been working my way through the Shout Factory Friday The 13th Collection but keep getting sidetracked by other films.
I recently attended the Neon/Fathom Events Screening of Memories of Murder (2003), which was Digitally Remastered. Wish more people were able to pack the theaters for this amazing film.

Everything about this scene in Friday the 13th Part 3 (1982) makes me laugh hysterically.

Thought this may be of interest on here. I just turned on Alien , on HBO Max, and decided to scroll down to see what the extras were while it was still signing on. It turns out that the Director’s Cut is on there, under the extras.
