Ditto here.

I don't think this has anything to do with the whole "multiple city" thing. That works like a charm. There's got to be some kind of extra process behind the scenes for Discover Cash Back and I'm guessing Groupon and/or Discover aren't working weekends to process those cash-back orders.

Added a new 10% non-member and 15% member coupon on the first page if you're running out of online codes. Both expire Feb 7 at 2:59 AM ET.

@kodave:
I haven't done any kind of cash back deal, let alone multiple cities, and I cannot even get the first purchase to show up in my new account. I didn't have a Groupon account before this, and when I signed up I was told I'd get an email right away to confirm my account. It hasn't shown up; I placed the first order anyway, and it doesn't show up in my Groupons even hours later.

Unacceptable for a business that thinks it's worth $15b. If your whole model revolves around millions of people storming your site at any given time, then at least make sure that your f***ing systems can handle the load.
Amen!

They are lagging. I think the verification email took 4 hours and the order confirmation took 3 hours or something. Pretty ridiculous.

I didn't have a Groupon account before this either despite all the press they've been getting.

I'm beginning to think the brouhaha on SD is premature and driven by the people who tried to use like 20 Groupons on Nooks. I just got another Groupon on another account I had created that I thought was lost.

I guess I will get Kieslowski's Double Life of Veronique on BD.

I believe at this point any order with more than 1 Groupon is being audited. This has happened to both of my recent 3-Groupon orders. All orders with 1 Groupon are going through fine. So keep this in mind when determining whether the deal is worth it. For me, it absolutely is, since almost everything on my book/CD/DVD wishlist is in the < $20 range.

What do you mean it's being audited? What does it say?

I've used a max of 2 per order just to completely "finish" one of the Groupons. They all say Not Yet Shipped but I assume that's just because it's the weekend.

"Unable to process order. Please call 1-877-379-0036, or 212-414-6024, if outside U.S."

This appears in the order status within about 1-2 hours of purchase. When did you place your orders? I am curious to know if orders with 2 Groupons go through.

Then it must be some kind of additional processing step on Groupon's end if you use the groupon.com form to purchase rather than if you use the touch.groupon.com to purchase. To get the Discover cash back you had to fill in all of your details and whatnot on that page since Groupon still has disabled logins (and if you leave the groupon site via Discover link to the touch site you cant get cash back). So basically the process is the same whether you're a new account or whether you're an existing account trying to get cash back.

I ordered 6 without Discover cash back through touch.groupon.com and had them within a short period of time. I think I'm sitting on 24 hours now for my Discover cash backs.

Yeah, me too. I made an order in the early evening of the 4th of February with two groupon gcs and it's scheduled to ship on the 7th.

I placed an order using two of the Groupon GCs late this afternoon (two February 15 pre-orders: Top Gear Series 14 and 15 BDs) and that message appeared on the order status screen.

At the time of this post it has gone away, replaced with the standard "Not Yet Shipped."

Edit: And I just got the "Your Order is Scheduled To Ship" e-mail.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I did another order about an hour ago for a DVD and it went through fine using one Groupon. I saw this post over at SD and can see why B&N could be watching online orders and purchases at stores more closely. I bet anyone using GCs on a Nook will get flagged. I have no desire to buy a Nook and most likely will only use one Groupon at a time. So I assume I shouldn't have any problems using them a little at a time.

Decent depending on the store. I went back today and got my 4th (and final) NC. First time I bought one NC with 14 codes, had no real problem. Second time I bought two at the same time with 28 codes right at store closing time. Had some explaining to do, but it wasn't too bad. Went back today to get my fourth one. I had to wait for nearly 30 minutes while the manager (an older gentleman) was on the phone with corporate checking stuff out. They wanted to know where I got all the codes, and I heard another cashier ask if this was a Groupon thing and he said, "No, this guy's got something different."

Story I made up was that I had gotten them from Swagbucks.com. I showed him the website on my phone and how it worked, and how they had B&N gift cards as one of their rewards (they only do $10 cards, but I just said they change their promotions occasionally and I got mine back when they did $20 ones). He was confused as to how Swagbucks and B&N cooperated with each other and why they gave out free B&N gift cards. I told him it was an incentive to have you search for stuff on the internet using their site instead of Google, Bing, etc., so that you saw their advertisers, yada yada.

Long story short, they finally okayed it. He came back to the front after being on the phone with corporate and said everything was fine. He apologized for the hold-up, and said he just had to be sure. He said they've had this whole "Groupon thing" going on that was creating headaches, and I just kinda played dumb and said I'd heard of that from my wife, but she always seemed to use it for food or family outing type local deals.

Yup, same here. I have no interest in a Nook. I think I'm going to stock up on some more Groupons on Monday assuming all the other orders ship and then slowly use them as the furore dies down.

I like how people on SlickDeals think it's totally fine to lie through your teeth to get a deal.

What I don't understand about SD is why these people would waste a few hours to make a hundred bucks or so (at best) on eBay? Are their jobs that lousy?

All these people trying to get Nooks totally screwed it up. I know we push rules here too, but come on guys, there's a limit. I know this sound a lot like the pot calling the kettle black but that's my 2 cents.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I got three groupons, used two of em today on some Blu's.

Forrest Gump 1 $13.74
The Town 1 $18.35
Uncle Buck 1 $9.74

Sub Total: $41.83
Shipping & Processing: FREE

Tax: $2.50
Total Shipment Price: $44.33

So... $24 out the door. $8 per BD works for me. I have one more, but I'll probably use that on a preorder or something.

"Save 10% off your entire order ONLINE, enter coupon code B4K4P7A at checkout."

Only took 10% off the highest item for me

I would imagine it's a combination of housewives, students, kids too young to have jobs, professional hoarders, and people with compulsive buying habits that have spent themselves into thousands of dollars of consumer debt and are looking for any way to "cover" purchases.

The anything-for-a-buck nihilism of places like SlickDeals is why we can't have nice things. If this incident becomes a big enough headache for a place like B&N, they won't do another Groupon in the future. Oh well.

My mistake! I made the correction on the first page. The coupon below P4U7L9E should deduct 10% off the entire order of all eligible items purchased.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I can't imagine trying to use 14 or 28 of these coupons in one purchase. That's just ridiculous. And yeah ec461, you are right in that we might push the boundaries a little here and there, but I've never seen anyone here outright lie and exploit situations like the people at SlickDeals do. It's shameful, really.

Hehe. Probably not. They're too busy wasting time on SD.

I should stop hating on SD considering I scan it at least once a day...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

They are using it for profit. Some guy posted that he got 3 nook colors after making up some long story about being given e-cert codes for Christmas. Then he proceeded to say that he had already flipped two of them on ebay for $390 profit. We here hoard coupons deals too but they seem to do it to an insane extreme.

Actually the worst part about the SD thread was that someone from NY made up their own upc barcodes with the ecert number and tried to pass it off as the groupon. Apparently, the codes couldn't scan but she still got the store to take 30 (wtf?) groupons to buy a nook color.

Anyway the people at my BN are nice enough that they let me turn my groupons into GC. I only printed out a few of them though and I'll just go back early tomorrow and give them the rest to convert into GC. Strangely enough the CSR I talked to seemed stress free about the groupons when I asked her about it.

I ended up doing a ship to home + 15% coupon on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for $12.61 + tax. Great price for me and luckily it was OOS. Store price was $18.99 so I picked the cheaper option.

Earlier I ordered Braveheart online with a coupon. Total was less than $14. In store price was like $28. I got a shipping email so that should be fine.

I think I'm done with the groupons. I think I got like 12 or so. That's enough for me. I'm just waiting for Black Swan to have an official release date and maybe a 20% off coupon or a price drop.

I don't think it's the sd site that should get the hate but the SD effect. I've scored a lot of cheap stuff at the site the past few years so I shouldn't complain so much.

What's the fascination with the nook color anyway? Easier to flip for profit or just the most expensive thing they can score while spending the least amount of cash?
