Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only.

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Criterions, Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc.
Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order

Return period is 14 days after delivery though possibly it's 30 days now for most people though there is a discrepancy b/w the receipt and website.
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept

Single Item 15% OFF, but should be reusable in different transaction and if the Clerks will scan it more than once.

Not nearly as good as the 40% off sale. Best example is if you are buying two items of the same price, B1G1 50% off is essentially 25% off each item. So the 40% off sale wins by a mile. Granted, that was restricted to BD's. So for DVD's, I guess this sale is OK.

Plus, I don't think that coupons will be eligible on the sale.

Too far of a drive for me since I try to stick to online with B&N. The only time I tend to actually go to a store is during the Criterion sale.

I've never been told in store that I couldn't use a coupon (member or non-member) during a promotion. I don't see how this promotion would be any different.

I've used coupons during their Criterion sale, 40% off sale, Buy 2, Get 1 free sales

I wonder how much Barnes & Noble will have the Blu-ray of Hitchcock's Rebecca Notorious and Spellbound for.

Same here. And coupons have been working online during the sales too.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

The problem I see with coupons is how they will be used. If you buy two products that are priced the same with a buy 1 get 50% off the other then how does the coupon figure in? Which product will it reduce by a percentage and wouldn't that then leave you to pay the full price for the other item? I just don't see how it would work when the sale is dependent on you buying another item at a higher price. The only coupon I could see a possibility is the 5 off 50.

Most B&N percent off coupons deduct off the highest priced item and not the entire purchase. If you purchased two DVDs with the buy one get one 50% off promotion the coupon will apply to the higher priced DVD, while the other would receive the 50% discount. The same would apply with the B2G1F sale. The highest priced item in the order gets the coupon discount. This should be true online and at stores but of course some stores might be willing to apply two coupons per transaction.

Coupons have always deducted the % off the highest-priced item in the order. The register will deduct the sale price (B2G1 or B1G150%) first. Then the coupon will deduct the % off the highest-priced item.

VISA card users: sign up to receive text messages from B&N at www.bn.com/bnbuzz, get $5 off a $15 purchase. The $5 off promo is highlighted on that webpage.

Most of the time the coupons work fine off the highest non-free item, but I actually did have this problem with a cashier once. He argued with me that he could use the coupon, but it would just make the coupon item the free one since it would be the cheapest item. The way he put it is that to use the coupon on the highest remaining item he would have to do an override and his corporate overlords were trying to curb that from happening. I haven't had a problem at any other stores with any other cashiers though.

3 Criterions, even at 68 bucks, is way more than I would want to pay for them. You're still looking at around 23 bucks apiece which I see many Criterions selling for from time to time on Amazon.

I did not know that. Then perhaps there will be some deals to be had... Hopefully there will be in-store coupons to make it sweeter...

The Portland Lloyd Center Mall location tries to run this dishonest scam in their department. A veteran crew that has been cheating B&N members every time there is a B2G1 sale. Every other B&N video department that I have been to including the Clackamas Town Center location just ten minutes away, says the computer/register takes the coupon off of the highest priced item.

Honesty with B&N cashiers is a YMMV type of thing

Did you mean Clackamas Town Center?

Yes........Clackamas Town Center. How in the world I got those two places flip-flopped. Would be like confusing a flash light for the Sun

The Clackamas B&N has the better and more honest staff in regards to coupon use, store policies, returns, Etc. They have a better Department Manager who follows B&N posted policies and does not create or make up stuff.

The LLoyd Center location has a Video Department Manager who likes to create his own policies on coupons, returns, store orders, ship to home, Etc. He also has a veteran long time crew that follows his lead on this. I'm sure the motivation probaly has something to do with numbers/goals/Etc.

My membership expires in a few months and I will be done with Barnes & Noble. Will just go and create a trial membership every time there is a Criterion sale. Been a member for several years and between some of the orders online showing up all beat up and my neighborhood Lloyd Center store wanting the Video Department to be a Museum.......it's just not worth paying the $25 every year anymore and rewarding a company for bad service.

I truly think Amazon Prime will be it for me as a dvd collector/shopper.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Yeah, I just tried to get in on the B2G1F sale. I like how the shopping cart shows you the discounted price by item, but the sum total for your order is calculated by the MSRP. Unless someone can tell me how two $18.+ items, the 3rd FREE, free shipping, 7% tax comes up to $54.16.

Now, THIS is what people should be bitching about, when they're busy focusing on the much-better-by-comparison DD 25% sales ...

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

The B2G1F sale has worked in the past at BN.com, so I wonder if there is some kind of computer glitch. I have the following three items in my cart:

Cleveland Show S2 27.89
Archer S2 22.14
Futurama V6 22.14

Instead of giving me Futurama V6 free (and deducting 22.14 from the total), the website is deducting just 7.15 from the total, a value which makes no sense.

Yeah, looks like a glitch to me.

It sounds like a mess to order online right now. I hope things can get fixed soon.
