Sadly B&N appears they are continuing to cutback on 10% and 15% coupons. I noticed the last 3 weeks a weekly 10% non-member coupon is no longer showing up. A monthly 15% members coupon I could usually count on didn't materialize to replace the last one that expired September 14. There are definitely fewer coupons around at the moment.
I hope more coupons will start appearing in the next month or two since we are quickly approaching Black Friday, and the beginning of the holiday shopping season. If not I doubt I will renew my membership either, which is expiring toward the end of November. If you are considering not renewing your membership I would suggest making sure you don't have automatic renewal selected in your account, or else B&N will charge you automatically whether you want it or not.

Here's something troubling that I feel the need to share.
I recently ordered a single CD from BN.com through the military link and used a 10% coupon. The total order amount I agreed to and the amount shown on the receipt I printed out immediately following submitting the order was $14.35. The amount I was charged was $15.38. The email confirmation that I received for the order showed an order total of $14.35, but to the left of this was printed "Your credit card will be charged* $15.38." WTF?
I went back and forth arguing with B&N.com reps on this, but they insisted they did the right thing. So my plan was to return the CD to a physical store for a refund.
Upon returning the CD last night, I came to find out that there's a new policy for B&N.com returns to physical stores. You now get store credit, even if you used a B&N MasterCard.
Two things of concern: 1) I wonder how many times in the past I've been overcharged for an order like the one mentioned above and didn't realize it. 2) Knowing that I'm now to receive store credit for returns for a store that seems to think it's okay to overcharge customers, I think I'm going to call it quits with B&N.com. It's become too much of a hassle. I'll try and find one last thing to purchase to use up this store credit, but after that, I'm out.

Also if you didn't open the package you could have refused delivery and received a full refund. I've done that on a few occasions because I didn't want to take it to a store for credit. Another suggestion if you take it to a store is ask if they will allow you use it to buy a gift card instead. That way you can use it online. The prices at the stores are often higher compared to online.

Since I no longer have any pending cashback I decided to contact Bing about all the past purchases I made that didn't get credited on my account to see what happens. So far Bing has been very cooperative and promptly issued credits for some of the purchases. Still have a few more purchases to go through but it looks promising I may get all my back credit from B&N.

There are two 15% online coupons but they are currently not active yet. They are located at the bottom of the list. One is for members and the other for non-members. That should give you two to use if you have a B&N membership. However they may start working around 12 (ET) tonight, but unfortunately are only valid through the weekend.

Thanks for the info, Laser. I had missed those 2 coupons that are now active. Like you, I think how B&N does, coupon wise, over the next several months will determine whether or not I renew with them next year. As it stands right now I'm definitely leaning heavily toward not renewing.

Not sure what is going on but when I checked it appeared the military.com bookstore is gone. It looks like the link takes you to the regular B&N.com portal instead of the military.com homepage. Also was getting the same thing through the Visa and working advantage bookstore links. Same thing happened September 14 (see post #849). It could be temporary and they may eventually come back like they did earlier.

Now that Snow White has been mentioned, B & N lists two versions, both at the same price ($39.99 list) and both are three discs. One says DVD + Blu-ray and the other Blu-ray + DVD. The extras appear to the same. Anyone know the difference between the two or is it just "marketing" and packaging differences?

From what I can tell I believe the differences are the cases and artwork. One comes in a blu-ray case and the other a regular DVD case. Artwork also appears different with each version. They have the same thing listed at Amazon where I ordered it for $9.99. I went with the blu-ray packaging.

I went to B&N today and was stunned to find that all seasons of The Shield were marked 50% off. After member discount and $5 coupon I got season 6 for about $18 (it's $33.99 on Amazon). Amazing price on one of the best shows ever made. Gonna go back later to pick up the final season, it should come out to about $22 ($27.49 on Amazon).
Anyway, thanks for keeping up the thread, seems like I always manage to find some pretty good deals here and there with those $5 coupons, and they never ever enforce the membership dates.

^ A good deal. But just for the future, The Shield sometimes goes on sale at Amazon for $19.99 a season. I check tvshowsondvd with their Amazon sales list almost daily, and it has shown up there a lot in the past (including just a couple of weeks ago).

Picked up the 2 disc special edition of the Pennebaker Bob Dylan film Don't Look Back for only $13.50. Originally 39.99, it was marked down to 29.99, then stickered at 50% off, and then as a member I got an additional 10% off. The 2nd disc contains an hour of terrific footage left out of the original feature and both discs have comentaries!
