It looks like they are catching on to orders using different cities with the same account. I still have not received those groupons almost 24 hours later. They might even be catching new accounts now if you are using the same credit card and billing information. After I had success with a new account I started two more last night. Received only one out of two groupons. The only one I received I used a different credit card and billing address. However I noticed today I have received cashback credit for all the groupon purchases I made.

Is there a way to store the credit in your B&N account, similar to Amazon stored credit?

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I placed six orders yesterday afternoon with six different cities, and there's no record of any of them. I must have pretty rotten luck if none of them went through. For people that have had success placing orders with new accounts, do you use the same email address and credit card info?

I posted this on the previous page, but I don't know if people saw it. Try ordering through the mobile app (iPhone, etc.) if you are able to. Those seem to arrive instantly.

You're not the only one that had bad luck using different cities. I was completely shut out. I'm three out of four with different accounts. I used different emails for each one. I would recommend switching cards if possible, especially if you used the same one on all the other orders that were rejected.

I only have the one credit card and no iPhone, so I tried creating a new account with just a different address and a new town. We'll see, but I'm not holding my breath.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Ok, my groupons from yesterday have not shown up either. No record of them and I didn't note down the order numbers. I'd already ordered 4 on this account.

Anyone willing to call Groupon?

No iphone here, but I'm going to try to see if that site works on a PC.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Ok, this is interesting. The mobile site worked instantly. So I don't think Groupon is messing with it. FWIW, none of my 7 or 8 purchases through Mr. Rebates yesterday show up on Groupon (I wasn't logged in because you can't be logged in through the cashback link) and they don't show up on Mr. Rebates either. So either Groupon is having huge lag times or the orders have disappeared/cancelled. I'm still inclined to believe it's the former, but the only way to know for sure is to have someone call Groupon with an order number and ask them what's going on. I'd do it if I had my order numbers, but I don't. Best to do this with a throwaway account.

I'm willing to give up the 8% but I'm just concerned that now I'll end up with 8 Groupons I can't use when they get around to processing them.

This order is at least "processing", unlike the others which didn't even show up.

Same here. It's now stuck at processing. This was on an existing account. I'm toying with the idea of making a new one and seeing what happens.

FWIW, my Amex does not show any pending charges for either this order or the ones through Mr. Rebates.

Yea, similar experience here. Got 3 of 6 through ShopDiscover, with no sign of the others.

Ordered two more using two new e-mail accounts, and they both showed up.....guess I'm done for now.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I can't even sign up with a new account because the damn confirmation email isn't here yet.

Unacceptable for a business that thinks it's worth $15b. If your whole model revolves around millions of people storming your site at any given time, then at least make sure that your f***ing systems can handle the load.

I'm now four out of four using different accounts. One order I placed last night finally showed up a short time go. Also when I checked my cashback at Mr. Rebates I discovered they gave me an extra $5 as a sign up bonus I wasn't expecting.

Word on SD is not good. Apparently BN is retroactively modifying orders by removing the Groupon and charging people's cards. Though the one that I bought 2 hours ago from the touch site is now available.

Wow, can they do that?

Don't think so. I'd do a chargeback. They can then swallow the chargeback fee. Would be a pretty stupid move on their part I think.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I took a glance at the SD thread and it appears if it is starting to unravel. I'm not going to try and purchase anymore groupons. I currently have three I have not used and am not sure if they are active since I have been getting messages saying they will not work until tomorrow.

From past experience when I had online companies try to add charges that were not initially approved during the purchase I have successfully been able to beat it in a dispute with my credit card company. I think they would lose if you fought it, but it is not a easy or pleasant experience to go through.

Yeah, I'm stopping. I'm going to use the ones I have left and that's it.

I think what I've learned from this deal and the $20 LS Amazon deal is that these things are colossal clusterfucks and are best avoided completely.

BTW, they still work online immediately despite the message.

What is worse is that the sneaky buggers don't email you a receipt anymore showing the payment method so you have to print to PDF/screenshot the order details page from their website.

EDIT: It's not entirely clear why orders are being changed. I get the impression that some people were re-using a GC for more than its value. When you apply a GC to an order, and then go try to use it on another order, there is a lag between the use of the GC and updating it's value so it can potentially be used for more than $20. I haven't done this but I won't put it past SDers. (B&N needs new programmers; this is absolutely terrible system design. This is the sort of thing that would be used as a textbook example of how parallelization should NOT work on computers.)

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Well if these early reports hold true, this will become a cluster-fuck of epic proportion.

On one of the sites yesterday, it showed that over 800,000 of these had been purchased, and that was for just one city. Imagine if they have to field over a Million complaints!

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I highly recommend saving all your order details both on Groupon.com and on BN.com.

EDIT: Ok, I've saved all of mine. I'll sleep peacefully once these are shipped on Monday. Also, apparently 2 day Free Express Shipping for members means something shipped on Fri gets here on Wed. Amazon would probably have had it here by Saturday. Lame.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

For what it's worth...

I did one yesterday with my main email address and received it within two hours. I did another today with my secondary email address and for a different city and received it within about six hours. I'm debating doing another with my third email address, but probably won't. Two is good enough for me.

I assume once we actually have the coupons there shouldn't be a problem?

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

From what I read on SD, I think Groupon has caught on and they're currently evaluating and cancelling multiple orders by the same person. In other words, this deal is pretty much dead, unless you haven't bought one already.

I was lucky and got in early on this deal. Bought 2 blu-ray boxsets at from B&N websites and got shipment confirmations with tracking #'s for both. Used 3 coupons on each order.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I ordered a bunch of these Groupons and so far have placed 3 orders online. The first 2 are scheduled to ship on Monday. The third order says "Unable to process order. Please call 1-877-379-0036, or 212-414-6024, if outside U.S." I am not going to call yet, but I'll be pretty annoyed if no more orders go through. I guess if worst comes to worst, I can use these in store.

I received both of the groupons I ordered this morning, using different emails and c/c's. I have 3 that I haven't used yet, 3 that I have used, and 3 that have gone missing. I won't order anymore. I'm done.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I was looking closely at the groupons I printed out and two of them say I can't redeem them until Feb. 6 at 12 AM. The other one says I can't use it until Feb.5 (today). The first one I purchased didn't even have a date and I could use it right away.
