Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

From what I remember reading, they are only allowing 1 GC per order at this time. I think that they audit your order or something if you use more than one. At least that's what the huge slickdeals thread says.

Anyway, I made two more orders today. I hope this ends soon. I always get the temptation to buy more.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Every order i've placed has had 2 GCs attached, and all are scheduled to ship.
Started with buying a membership, and each order after that used the remainder of a GC from last order, another GC, one item, and a coupon code.
I'm out of coupon codes to use now, so I'll prob wait until they are refreshed.
Tempted to grab a few more groupons before deal is over.

Really? When did you place them? I can wait a while since I got shot down by the store in my attempts to combine it into a gc. So I have some extras lying around. Luckily they were mostly purchased using different groupon accounts.

BTW, Braveheart Bluray is now out of stock.

On Friday I placed an order using 3 of the Groupon codes and all the items have already shipped. Unless they've made changes over the weekend you should be able to use 3 per order.

On both fatwallet and slickdeals people are claiming if you use more than one on a bn.com order that they will void a groupon code and charge you after order ships for the difference.. But I'm only going by what they are saying. I think I will just use one per order just in case.

I can't even log in using the link on the previous page. I get a message saying the login is incorrect, even though I'm positive I'm putting in the correct info, as I just set up the account yesterday. I tried to reset the password via my email account, but then their site tells me "Login is unavailable for a bit..."
If they can't handle all this traffic, they have no business doing three Superbowl ads today, for f's sake.

And I wish BN good luck. Especially if they try to pull this shit after shipping. I have screenshots and receipts showing that the whole order was paid by gift certificates. I'm pretty sure my bank/card company will side with me so I'm not sure what B&N is going to do then.

Well I just placed an order with two groupon codes. One was leftover (ie not twenty) and another was twenty so I'll see how it goes.

Use the https://merchants.groupon.com/login and click forgot your password.

Enter email address. Wait for password link reset to come in your email.

Enter whatever the new password is and remember that. You will come to that login page since you are doing it from the regular groupon site. And the "Login is unavailable...etc message will come up. Don't worry about that it happened to me to.

Go back to https://merchants.groupon.com/login and try to login with the changed information. You should be able to access the bn groupon now.

Well, I think it's pretty clear, going by the last 5 pages or so of this thread, that this company/website is not ready for prime-time.

My concern is that I received only 3 actual Groupons through this portal. So, I will either be receiving the additional two at some point in the future, or I will need to contact Groupon and find out where they are.
Did you purchase any on your Discover card outside of the portal?

Damn... I'd do that but I only want the ones I already ordered, and don't need extra charges.

I'm sure they were prepared to handle one per person. Unfortunately, they didn't have a way to prevent multiples so here we are.

Half were last night, and then some more tonight.
Now I want to order the Walking Dead Graphic Novels - might just use the 10% off entire order code and get 3 of them with 3 GCs and press my luck.

*edit* I don't know if B&N orders are just sequential order, but if so in the last 1.5 hours they've had 40,000 orders.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Well, I used 2 groupons on one order for $40 and a credit card for $.44 cents. I got 3 graphic novels and 1 dvd season set. It's set to ship on Monday. I'll have to see what they pull after that. My CC is really fast on refunding me money on charge backs (at least they were when hollywoodvideo.com did their shenanigans).

The thing is, there's nothing that says two people can't share groupons or that you can't have it gifted to you and thus have more than one! I don't see how they can legitimately accuse you of scamming them unless they can trace the groupons to one account.

They very well could have prevented multiples. All it takes is some programming. They could have easily limited this deal to one city or made it a city-free Groupon. They also could have attempted to regulate it one per person by checking for duplicated billing addresses and names.

Furthermore once word of being able to buy multiple was out, they could have canceled and refunded Groupons instead of having their computers issue the gift card codes almost instantaneously.

Instead, they didn't do those things, and didn't bother to pay their programmer a Saturday of overtime to correct these things - assuming they really wanted to enforce the "1 per person" rule. But they could have.

I'm pretty sure they didn't want to enforce the 1/person rule. Groupon makes way more money this way. They get a pretty big cut of the whole transaction is what I recall from a Forbes article on them a while back.

I didn't say they couldn't do it; I said they didn't. And I know how to do it as I design software for a living. It would have been easy to do so it's odd that it wasn't done.

If that were true they wouldn't have the rule and they wouldn't be canceling some orders. Maybe it was intentional but it seems more like a mistake to me.

I was talking about Groupon, not B&N. B&N probably does want to crack down, but Groupon I guess doesn't care about the multiple cities loophole.

So am I. Some of the multiple orders aren't going through. I ordered 2 from different cities within minutes of each other today on the same account but I only received one. And others are reporting the same.

I think this is a software issue and isn't intentional. I did 5 through the touch site earlier this morning and got them all.

I waited too long on the 20% Visa coupon, how often do they come out?

At this point, I don't remember. I know I bought two using my Visa, and they both show up on that card's online "recent purchases".

Discover online is slower to post, but I do see three Groupon purchases dated 2/4. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if any more show up from Saturday.

With the exception of renewal coupons not very often. Most of the coupns are typically 10% to 15% off.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

One of my orders from Saturday has shipped. About 10 others are scheduled to ship today. If everything goes through, this will be one of the best deals I've ever gotten in on, if not the best. Not so much for DVDs and Blu Rays, which we are used to seeing go for $10 while their MSRP languishes at $30, but for books and CDs. For art books and specialty books, it's pretty unheard of to get any quantity at 65-70% off, which is what this deal translates to. Books don't get list price drops typically -- they just go out of print and shoot up in price on the secondary market. An amazing deal as far as I'm concerned. Really, it was hard to know where to stop buying these certificates.
