Strangeness abounds depending on circumstances beyond our control. On Monday I ran into some clerks at Union Square who tried to tell me the coupon would not work with 400 Blows even though I'd just returned Revanche and they could see the prior transaction worked. They called over the manager who tried to tell me the same thing but I read him the terms (from memory) and he approved it reluctantly. By now they must have seen the coupon 100's of times.
At Citicorp during the first week I had a very difficult manager called in from books who tried the same spiel but begrudgingly approved one return/rebuy of Lola Montes (from SD to BluRay) and then offered to take my second 5$ coupon and throw it in the trash for me...i.e. polite confiscation. I declined.

Has anyone got the coupons to work with the library or boeing site? Tried U8K3U4A and that did not work on either site. When I just used bn.com the 20% off coupon worked. Also worked on the visa link. I guess they must be wise to the stacking of discounts.

Shame they have picked up on the stacking of their 20% off coupons and the website links. I gave them easily near $400 the past couple of months with all my ordering. Oh well, it was amazing while it lasted.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I ended up using the Visa link (thanks sleepyhead) and a 20% off coupon, only I used a gift card, which worked. Thought I might get tripped up cause it's not VISA, so that's the best route for people looking to stack.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

From the last few posts I gather than there has been very little luck stacking codes with bookstore links. Does anyone know of any combination of codes/links that will work for a non-member? I can't get any codes to work with the links, and the 15% off code alone will not entice me to make a purchase given that BN's prices are more than that much higher than other sites for these items.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

The best seems to be the VISA discount link compiled with a 20% off non-member account.

Looks like B&N is going to try something different this week. May want to keep an eye out for an email with a personal 15% coupon. There are already a lot of 15% available but maybe these will stack with the bookstore links for a change.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Check any emails carefully this week from B&N because you might delete a possible 50% coupon. Here are details I uncovered on the offer below.

http://cart2.barnesandnoble.com/shop...p?promoid=8294

Mystery Offer Online Coupon Details:

To qualify for offer: (i) you must have received an email communicating the offer directly from Barnes & Noble, and (ii) you must also make your purchase online at BN.COM using the email address to which the offer was sent. Orders made from other email addresses will not qualify for this offer. This coupon can only be redeemed by email recipient and is only valid once per customer, per billing address.

This coupon is valid from August 26th 2010 to August 30th 2010 at 2:59 a.m. Eastern Time.

This coupon entitles you to one of the following discounts: 15%, 20%, 30% or 50% off the 1 eligible item in your order. The discount will be applied to the most expensive eligible item in the order - not the entire purchase - and will be deducted after all other eligible discounts are applied.

To see which discount offer you qualify for, simply add item(s) to your shopping cart and enter your unique coupon code at checkout. During the Promotion Period, 258,000 50% off coupons will be distributed.

Additional Rules Governing Use of this Coupon: This coupon is (i) not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards and online Gift Certificates); (ii) not valid on past purchases; (iii) not eligible for purchases of the following products and services: Barnes & Noble Memberships, Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, shipping or handling expenses, gift-wrapping, textbooks, digital content (including but not limited to digital books, textbooks, magazines, and periodicals), NOOK(TM) and related accessories, other hardware and electronics, software, products available for pre-order, products from the Rosetta Stone Series, or products marked as not eligible for "coupons or promotional discounts;" (iv) not valid on purchases made from third parties accessible from the BN.COM website (e.g., used books, PC and video games, etc.); (v) may not be combined with any other coupon or discount promotion; and (vi) may not be combined with the Educator program discount. This offer is subject to change or discontinuation without notice; we will, however, honor properly placed orders with valid methods of payment with sufficient funds placed prior to such change or discontinuation. BN.COM is not responsible for typographical or pictorial errors. This coupon is not valid at Barnes & Noble retail bookstores or Barnes & Noble College Bookstores. Void where prohibited by law.

I didn't get an email about that $10 eGift card on any of my email accounts, but I'm not really into eBooks anyway, so no biggie...

I managed to get a email for the $10 gift card offer. Probably means I won't qualify for the coupon offer later in the week with that account.

I have other accounts but for some reason I'm no longer getting B&N emails anymore even though it says I'm signed up. I like to get a shot for some of those coupons.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Regarding the comment about not getting e-mails, I too seem to have been removed from the weekly e-mails. And it seems to have occurred about the same time as B & N dropped the member discount.

In keeping with the B & N mentality that they can't do anything wrong, so it must be the customers (or members) fault, I e-mailed them a complaint. The reply was they have a new privacy policy and they needed my e-mail address. I sent it in reply. The next message was the prior message was in error and it must be the filter setting in my (Hotmail) account. Then I got forwarded (and received) a week's e-mails of offers. Now nothing since.

What do you think B & N's IT department ever admitting it's their fault or we will ever be receiving e-mail offers again?

For those who have defended B & N in the past, it's time to re-think that support.

That's about when I stopped getting emails on most of my accounts. I only have one new account I started in May that receives email offers and coupons now. I never bothered to contact B&N about it since I usually deleted most of the emails without reading them anyway. However if they are going to start offering more of these account specific offers to customers I like to get the emails. I imagine trying to get someone at B&N to fix it would be a big pain in the ass, and most likely it would not accomplish anything.

Here's to hoping B&N isn't in the process of switching to account specific coupons universally... (it's alarmist but it had to be said).

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I've never had more than one account with B&N yet my email coupons have been very erratic and inconsistent. Somehow I have a feeling I won't see either of these promotions show up in my inbox. And that's gonna be a shame because I'd absolutely use any coupon code that's giving me 20% or more! And I wouldn't use it on a paltry little purchase either!

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

The email I previously had registered my membership under had to be changed due to a new ISP. I opened some email subaccounts and one of them must have been recycled from another person because I get more spam, Nigerian and other fortunes awaiting pleas, facebook shit, etc. addressed to "Anthony" which is NOT my name. Under that email I got the 15% coupon and not under the email my account is subscribed to. Go figure.
Using the link in the coupon I did make a purchase after logging in correctly and the discount was applied.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

Two points of interest.
1. B&N.com had charged me $3.15 over the price I agreed upon when I purchased Sanjuro & Yojimbo on blu-ray, using a coupon. Since then I contacted BBB and B&N sent me a personal apology and a refund. So, yah!

2. I purchased Lost season 6 for $30.50 shipped, using a 15% off coupon and membership. Lowest price I've seen for this new.

Re: Barnes And Noble Coupon Thread Part 2

I got a bunch of the "secret code" emails this morning in some of the accounts I've signed up for over the years to buy stuff with. Most of them were the 15% off, one was 25%, and one I believe was 30%. Sadly, no 50% off for me.

Received both offers (eBook GC and mystery coupon) this week to a secondary account -- I never get any promotional e-mails through my primary account even with subscriptions turned on; only got 15% off on the mystery coupon.

I have about 20 accounts, which all forward to one main email address so I don't have to check them, and I only received ONE email with the coupon (it was only 15% off). Like you stated, the last account that I created is the only one receiving emails from B&N now. Very strange...
BTW, the coupon does NOT work with the library link. I was hopeful that this one would, but alas it does not...
