No idea when they go live, but Sam”s has a listing for the console.

Gamestops have the amount of available consoles posted on their doors.
i just checked one of the two within walking distance of my apartment and they have 25 MK ones and 9 base consoles.

I totally forgot about this. I guess Best Buy, Walmart, and Target are all sold out. Looks like your typical pre-order console launch BS to me. Oh well, I'll get one eventually.

It is still showing as available to order at WaMart right now if you want to try, don't know how long that will last though.

total BS, Nintendo should have woken you up, or saved one for you until morning.

Looks like there will be no "real" third party physical Switch 2 games, just boxes with codes.

The PS5 launch was over 5 years ago at this point, how have the websites not come up with a better way to handle this by now?

Yep. Buying the same game on Switch 1 and Switch 2. The 1 version is all on cart. The 2 version is just a download key.

Oh I wasn’t asleep. And I saw the Walmart one and passed right after this post. But good try.

I got to GameStop at 8am this morning. They had a sign on the door that said they had 29 base models and 55 Mario Kart Bundles. When I got in line, I was number 12. I was able to get the Switch 2 Mario Kart Bundle, one Switch 2 controller (I wanted two, but they had limit one per customer, which I totally understand) and a Nintendo camera. Of course it was raining cats dogs. I was beyond soaked when I got home. I'm just glad I got one and won't have to fight the online crowds.

Based on the pricing of the games, it speculated that the cost to upgrade the Kirby Dreamland and Mario Party games is going to be $19.99 each. -eek-

that's fucking ridiculous! I thought $10 was fine, but fucking $20 is completely outrageous. they are really betting we are going to love this system or they wouldn't put too much effort in fucking the consumer. at least my credit won't go to waste. ;)

it's too bad my Wavebird will be left dormant. i have the GC hooked up and everything looks terrible and so clunky controls.

IGN is pretty trustworthy but it's already been confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 is fully on cart. A huge game too. Very large.

So...not sure why so many others are all game carts. Maybe it's more of a launch thing? A way for Nintendo to manufacture the carts ahead of time while developers are still able tinker with the ports right until release date? This will really suck if this is an ongoing trend. The only reason to buy these stupid things will be if it's on sale and cheaper than digital.

The one saving grace is that at least Nintendo has required a designation on the packaging to say that it's a game cart. It would have been a lot nicer if that notice wasn't so huge and ugly but....at least it's there.

Yeah pretty much. $60+$20 = $80. I kind of understand this as they did seem to add a lot more to the games. Entire modes and worlds vs just an tweaked experience like the Zelda games. So it's really more like DLC. I guess we'll have to wait and see just how much they added.

I still think their marketing screwed up though. I don't know why they're releasing these games as Switch 2 games. Especially if they are just repackaged Switch 1 games with DLC. Why draw the ire of the public in releasing $70-$80 games that are years old??? Just announce them as DLC for $10-$20 and that goes over a lot smoothly. At least I think so. Or at the very least RELEASE THE ENTIRE DAMN GAME ON THE CART FULLY PLAYABLE WITHOUT HAVING TO DOWNLOAD ANYTHING!!

What do you mean? Which games have clunky controls? What does this have to do with the Switch 2?

I'm not that into the retro gaming scene but I think there are some mods you can do to get better PQ out of a GCN.

I couldn’t even play Metroid Prime on GC. The controls sucked. The new version is great however.

Not to get personal but you are the exact type of consumer who complains about the price but pays it anyway. 😅. I mean for all of the complaining about the price of this system people seemed eager to pay it so maybe we deserve it. Right now I’m resisting the amiibos.

Yeah those amiibo price hikes are just absolutely disgusting. $10 price hike from the announced price that was already $5 up from last gen. So a 100% markup from last gen. $120 for the set of 4. That's a REALLY tough pill to swallow. I do love my collectibles, especially amiibo and especially Zelda but man. That's just ridiculous. I might still cave in and get it but I'm not sure. Not today anyways. Maybe I'll hope for a sale of clearance.

I have to ride by my local GameStop on my way to work every morning and they must have announced they were doing preorders again today. There was already a line of around twenty people at 7am this morning.

I kind of think it's out of their hands considering where amiibo are made, but I haven't looked up non US prices to verify. But yeah, I'm out (for now).

Right, but you're complaining about the game upgrade price and will (probably) still pay it... :)

For those of you who have an OG Switch and are upgrading, what are planning on doing with your old hardware?

I guess I'll sell or trade mine in, but there's something about the Switch where I feel differently about doing that, despite that being somewhat standard practice for consoles where the successor has backwards compatibility (traded in my PS4 and PS4 Pro, gave my Xbox One and Xbox One X to family, have my PS5 ready to trade-in despite dragging my feet on actually doing it). I can't really make a case for keeping it, but...I dunno.

I don't think I will get rid of mine, but I don't usually part with my old consoles anyway.

I have 2, OLED and original, plan to keep both, the original is for my 8 year old. We also have those Mario Kart racers, will continue to use both Switches to race them.
