That aside, I've been playing Split Fiction with my sister remotely and man what a great game! Wish it had some sort of single player mode but even without it, good good stuff.

And that's the problem we were discussing before it even released. Now with the economy and Nintendo's rep in the toilet it makes it that much harder of a sell.

Of course hindsight is 50/50 and we'll never truly know, but if the rumors were true about it being ready to launch much earlier, imagine what launching 6-12 months before it did would have done for the trajectory of the console.

How is Nintendo's rep in the toilet?

I thought I read an article a few weeks ago that all video game hardware and software sales were down, I think a lot of it due to the economy, so comparing it to the switch's launch (especially with the novelty gone) is kinda disingenuous. It's also not really competing with the PS5 directly, at least in terms of horsepower, though good for Sony for continuing to sell units. And MP is not a system seller as much as I'd like it to be.

I also don't see how their reputation is in the toilet, especially in comparison to the other videogame companies who have also been raising prices across the board (hardware and software) out of necessity. They do things that annoy me like game key cards (and Pokopia being on one of them annoys me to no end) but otherwise, I didn't need anything THAT revolutionary for the switch 2, especially when you consider how many of those revolutionary improvements usually fall by the wayside eventually anyway (was the 3D in the 3DS really that big of a factor a few years into the life of the console?)

They are widely considered the best system you can play in the toilet.

Man I've been playing it on, but not in. What am I missing out on?

They very recently started doing things that many people are calling "anti-consumer."

- If you use a flash cartridge even once, you can never again use online on that console (I'm not commenting on using one, just reporting on what happens when you do, and what people in general in the internets interpret it as)
- If you buy a used cartridge and someone has ripped the rom out of it, you can never again use online on that console. Contacting Nintendo will fix it, but you have to show proof of purchase, etc. Not sure how this will work with something like Facebook Marketplace and cash, as the stories I've read so far are from used video games retailers.

There's some more I'm sure I'm forgetting. But Nintendo is doubling down on only legit games on its system more than any other company ie Sony, Microsoft, and that makes people unhappy because they think Nintendo already makes enough money.

Cutting down on piracy doesn't seem that unreasonable. I'm curious how often that second scenario happens. I would think it's a very small subset of people who are up in arms about something like that as opposed to prices.

Nintendo's year in review is up! Kind of a quieter year for me, despite the new console!

It's odd because it shows Bayo at #3 with only 1 hour played and I know I played Hades more than 1 hour.

Good deal for eShop credit, especially for non-Costco members.

I was able to get Nintendo Museum tickets for our upcoming trip to Japan in March. Super excited since March was already sold out but they put some cancellations back up for a few dates today and there was one date that worked for our trip so I hopped on it.

I already hit the max. But this would have been a great deal.

My most played game was... Super Robot Wars Y. Like by a lot. Though Ball X Pitt is coming for it quickly for this year.

Blame Silksong lol

That was 96 of my total hours. All 91 from Sept, I'd imagine.

I've been playing a lot of MKW the last six months and still come across songs that just kind of jam, the OST just sounds good when cruising around.

A Tomodachi Life-focused Direct is scheduled for Thursday!

tanman 01-26-26 09:31 PM

Re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25

Dang, saw there was a Direct but didn't know it was for that game. I have zero interest.

I noticed that they dropped the price of the Amiibos coming out. The new Mario ones are $25 now instead of $30.

Which kind of sucks because I think it worked better when they were $30 because nobody bought them and they all dropped in price pretty quickly so I was eventually able to pick them up on the cheap.

At $25 and since they are Mario Amiibo I don't think they'll drop in price so quickly.
