I think the answer is yes, but will peripherals (light gun) using the SW1 joy-cons in it, be able to use with SW2 with SW1 game cart, like HotD?

Amiibo prices are going up too…

40 bucks? Geez.

Here's a preorder Tweet from CAG with links to the store pages for when they go active.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Debating on whether or not to say awake until midnight and try my luck there. I really would prefer GameStop due to the fact I have a lot of store credit to use. Honestly, I don't know what to do. :hairpull:

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
The Best Buy link points to their Switch 1 page with the Super Mario Wonder bundle highlighted. Wouldn’t they make it its own page?
We’ll have to see. |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Is Hogwarts Legacy getting the SW2 upgrade? I keep seeing it in videos of hands-on previews.

I figure third party game updates won't be free with the Nintendo Online with Expansion like the first party games will be. |

You have to read their fine print… or rather the first FAQ:
https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-s...-2/how-to-buy/ That kind of stinks. I wish they would have sent them out before other stores did their preorders. That would reward Nintendo loyal for not having to go through the preorder mess and it would free up some preorders from those folks getting it straight from Nintendo. But again they're probably doing it to continue to foster a relationship with the stores. Whether they like it or not they still have to maintain those relationships. Especially for these big events like console launches. Which is why I don't think either Sony or Nintendo have gotten on board with pricing digital content for less than physical. At least not retail pricing and even some of their sales events discount both digital and physical. I would love to know how much more Nintendo makes on the sale of a digital game vs a physical game. My guess would be at least $10 more since that's the discount using the voucher system on a typical price of $60/game. |

I'm not going to dig for an answer but I would say that while there will be a Switch 2 version of the game, I'm not sure about a paid upgrade.

Metroid Prime 4? Mouse controls are not required. You can definitely use the pro controller. In fact one of the awesome aspect of the mouse controls is their seamless integration and ability to switch back and forth. To activate mouse controls all you have to do is place the joy con on a flat surface and bam, mouse controls. Take it off and back to playing with the joy sticks (and motion control?). I really do hope there is motion control. I've gotten very used to it with Splatoon and it works flawlessly.

Manufacturing, shipping, and the store's profit margin on the game has to be more than 10 bucks, right (I realize there are server costs for digital)? Plus tariffs now.

 Seems like it would be. Then what's the reason that digital games aren't cheaper than physical? Is the relationship with the B&Ms really that important? I guess it is. I don't think Nintendo wants to get stuck with distribution of all it's consoles. They're definitely not built for that. And I'm sure a large number of sales are based on the demo stations in stores.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
The hype train has already started…
Nintendo of Japan has received 2.2 million applications to purchase the Switch 2 in Japan alone. Just through Nintendo. Not any other retailers. For comparison the original Switch, the best selling console in Japan, sold 330,000 during its first weekend. So Japanese demand hasn’t taken a hit. I wonder if American demand will falter? My guess is no. People will complain all day about egg prices but will still have all the money in the world for escapism. |
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Why would the demand in Japan take a hit? It's super affordable for them.

On the Pro controller 2, what are the buttons in back in the middle do? below the trigger buttons.
|
re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Custom mappable buttons, like many 3rd party controllers have.

I'm not too aware of 3rd party controllers. why would you need to remap a button that the movement or whatever is already assigned to a normal controller button?

I rarely use the custom buttons, but some games you need to hold a button to block. I find that back button is much easier to hold than one of the four face buttons for that sort of reflexive button press. I would never use it for, say Jump or to grab an item. |

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
I would think demand would be high in the US if only because of the scalpers along with people excited about it. Then there's the possibility that shortly after launch the 90 day "stay" on tariffs ends and this becomes more expensive.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
In PUBG for instance, I map the peek input to the back paddles on my Edge, it is so much more convenient than pressing in the sticks to peek during combat.

re: Nintendo Switch 2 - 06/05/25
Take this with a grain of salt because this is coming from a GameStop clerk. I went when they opened and asked if they knew how many pre-orders they would be taking tomorrow. He was told 82, but that number could increase or decrease by tomorrow.
