Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Anyone keeping Ironman 40's yellow at level 1, if paired with a red user, for the lower cost AP?

Max, I'm not at the 3* transition yet, but I've read a lot of good things about The Hood. He denies AP and can be a blue battery. You could even pair him with OBW as long as your 3rd is a strong tank/dmg dealer. And don't forget, 3* Mags is due for a nerf any day now. Don't spend ISO on him until the dust settles.

I guess people must get clustered pretty close together where a small comparative point change can drop a lot of ranks. Anyway, got a 3* Thor cover and a bunch of useless 2*s from my S3 reward tokens, but picked up an Iron Man 3* from the last event and a 2* Human Torch from one of the PVE tokens.
I don't think it's necessarily that people are grouped close together, I think it's that a lot of strong players make a push in the last few hours all the way up the leaderboard, and it becomes a bloodbath. Basically, if you're not going to play the final day, no lead is safe.

I know Mags is getting nerfed soon, but man that 5 blue is amazing. He really sucks on defense because the computer won't place the blue tiles correctly, but he absolutely needs to be nerfed, he is way overpowered, placing two blues for such a low cost which is basically self sustaining. I don't have him level maxed for fear of the nerf, but he (and Rags or a similar 2*) can wipe out way more enemy teams than my top combo of Hulk/Punisher without needing healing.

I wanted to try that Iron Man one yellow trick, but I looked at my Iron Man and he's already got two. So I'm tempted to start another one but it would be a long, long time before I got enough covers anyway, and by the time I get there they'll nerf that ability too.

I see that happen all the time on individual PVP events, but I'd think it'd be a lot tougher at the end of the season, since the cumulative score depends on all the previous PVP events from the past 3-4 weeks. There's only so much ground that can be made up between a single event & the Shield sim, which is why I think there must've been a good number of people in approximately the same point range going into yesterday.

Look at it this way: You can have IM feeding your Maggs blue AP!

Got all 2*'s out of my Season 3 tokens Did get a grey suit Widow with a regular token later on though. Starting to feel burnt out again, I think i'm going to relax the rest of the week on the current PvE event. And Season 4 didn't start yet apparently?

Edit: looks like it starts Friday at 12:01 AM EST.

With my 10 pack I got a red punisher I didn't need. But also a Falcon and a Blue Doom. So, cool.

What are some killer 3 team combos for the current Balanced PvP event? (Which is pretty cool btw. It's awesome seeing so much damage being dished out).

I know I've mentioned it before, but my typical go-to 2* teams are Thor/OBW/Daken and Storm/Magneto/Wolverine. Both kick quite a bit of ass in the current event. With the former, Daken's passive green-match power makes all attacks super powerful with a little luck, and Storm's blue does over 5k damage to everyone on the opposing team with the latter.

Got my first useless 3* cover with a Falcon. But I snagged a 3* Black Widow from a standard one and placed top 10 in the PVE for three Caps, so can't complain.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Thanks Max. I've used Ares, Daken, OBW so far in the event. Will try to swap in Thor.

Yeah, I placed 3rd in PvE so got 3 Caps as well.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Wow, that last Psylocke tournament got a lot of late players... I entered a late tournament hoping just to get a blue Cap cover, but was quickly outclassed and I just gave up. Even the PvE stuff, I fell way way behind and there are still days left to go.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

The PVE stuff was killing me last night, but I've done better today. The powered up Cap seems to do well with Magneto & Storm. I've got him at 104 before the boost, so his red attack is really powerful and can be self-sustaining with the 10-red return, especially if I'm able to get enough blue to have Storm's stun in effect. Anyway, jumped from around 400 this morning to top 20 this afternoon with four 15-20 minute sessions.

You guys remember the good ol' days when raising a single level would fully heal your character? I miss that feature.

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

I was in a brutal bracket for the Psylocke event. I got a couple top 25's in the last few events, so I'm guessing that's the reason. Pretty much filled with 100+ characters, and I wasn't even able to get into top 100 with 500+ points.

I came in 14th in the last ISO event and got 3 Captain Marvel covers! stoked about that, trying to get 60k point to pick up a 4th in the oscorp event.

Just pulled a 3-star Thor from a standard recruit token. That was a nice surprise.

Also Deadpool has just been announced. There will be a Deadpool-based event starting August 1st and he will become a playable character after that.

Whoa. Interesting. I wonder if they are canned to specific character combinations or if it's just unleashing multiple powers at once for a bonus.

Man, I missed out on a Captain Marvel cover early on, got put in some tough brackets, and lost a ton of interest until the PvE resets and Captain Marvel loses her importance...

(also doesn't help that I bit on a 10 pack with a boosted chance of Captain Marvel and got... 10 2*s. I've never seen that happen before. Not a single 3*, not even one I didn't need.)

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

Deadpool is coming! That is what was declared to the masses at the Marvel Games Panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday! We are now in countdown to when Deadpool arrives in the upcoming Episode "Deadpool vs. Marvel Puzzle Quest" on August 1st.

At the panel, we also introduced the all-new Team-Up feature where players can bring heroes into battle that aren't in your roster. This will bring huge amounts of tactical ability to the game. This will go live starting tomorrow (7/29) in the R58 update.

And last but not least, we will be removing the Dark Reign subtitle as we look to expand the story to other realms in the Marvel Universe. So stay tuned to where the story goes next in the coming months.

I'm more interested in the story expanding past all the Dark Reign stuff.

Whoever Mister Hand is, hasn't played in at least two weeks. If he didn't buy in for his slot, perhaps there's another person playing that would want to join instead?

Re: Marvel Puzzle Quest: Dark Reign

One person not playing is hardly the only issue we have as a competitive alliance.

Gameplay
New Feature: Team-Ups
- Team-Ups are single use abilities that can be brought into battle that allow users to use abilities from characters that aren't directly on their teams
- Most abilities are available to drop as Team-Ups for usage
- Team-Up abilities have a chance to drop when defeating non-minion characters
- New Team-Up tile art has been implemented
- Team-Up tiles replace Environment tiles on all boards that use Environment tiles
- Enemies can select and use Team-Ups
I'm pretty stoked to try out this team-up stuff tomorrow. It's not clear to me what they mean by "boards that use Environment tiles". Are there boards that don't have those (beyond the tutorial)?

Just as well because watching a 10k+ HP Hulk use "Hot Dog Stand" for 50 was comical. And 3 3-strength strike tiles in Latveria do nothing. A one-time use team-up sounds far more beneficial, even if I have to endure them being used against me.
