Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Gil is back with a summer donut sale:

132-Donut Tray + $10,000 on sale for $7.99.

576-Donut Dumpster + Premium Mystery Box (guaranteed to contain one premium building) for $34.99.

I'm thinking about getting the second deal. I've got two $15 iTunes cards I received as a gift that I have no other need for and I've been trying to figure out how to use them without spending a lot more money (like the extra $20 jump it would take to get to the 900-Donut Store).

Any brave souls going to go for it, check out this Premium Mystery Box?

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

I want to see a list of what premium buildings people are getting. I'm sure there's a thread in one of the forums.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

You're right. Someone on the EA boards posted that the 13 premium buildings are:

13 buildings you have a chance of winning with the Premium Mystery Box.

Duff Stadium - Chance .090909
Try 'N' Save - Chance .181818
Aztec Theatre - Chance .272727
Springfield Observatory - Chance .363636
Planet Hype - Chance .454545
Mount Carlmore - Chance .545454
Fireworks Candy and Puppy Dogs - Chance .636363
Asia De Cuba - Chance .727272
Open Air Stage - Chance .818181
Sprawl Mart - Chance .90909
Springfield Museum of Natural History - Chance 1

If you already own the above, you will win the following;

Ferris Wheel - If you already own - Duff Stadium, Try 'N' Save, Aztec Theatre, Springfield Observatory, Planet Hype, Mount Carlmore.

Lard Lad Donuts - If you already own - Fireworks Candy and Puppy Dogs, Asia De Cuba, Open Air Stage, Sprawl Mart, Springfield Museum of Natural History.
Another person there claims the buildings have an equal chance of 9.09% being selected.

Yet another person put it the cost of the deal in a different perspective, that if the above buildings cost at least 60 donuts, then put those 60 on top of the 576 for 636 total, or as it breaks down here:
300/20 = 15 donuts/$
636/35 = 18.17 donuts/$
900/50 = 18 donuts/$
I was hoping the Premium Mystery Box would offer a building with a character.

I am thinking about the $8 package. I really just want to be able to get all the Halloween update extras.

Now we know why these particular buildings were "specially selected."

I wish there were a deal at a price point between these two. I might get it, but I'm on the road and of course I have an unentered iTunes card sitting at home.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

No problem, just send me the address and I'll get those redeemed for ya.

Just over 5 days until my corn is ready. The "tile glitch" to stack friend taps still works for the corn, yes? You all are going to tap the heck outta my corn, yes? Help me rack up the XP on my road to more donuts, yes? YES?!

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

I don't think the stacking works anywhere. Someone elsewhere was claiming that it did work on the farm. I have tested it on some crops and only been able to tap once.

The odds you've quoted /are/ 9.09% for each building. 9.09% also = 1/11, and there are 11 buildings, so each one has the same likelihood of being drawn. Also, as it turns out, the cumulative value of those 11 buildings is 1095 donuts, or just a fraction under 100 donuts each. Some are as cheap as 60, others are as expensive as 150. But if you don't have any of them, then the /average/ random building will be worth about 100. Add that to the 576 in the dumpster, and you're looking at 676 donuts' value for $35. Or > 19 donuts per dollar.

Looking back at the last two Christmas sales, you'd have to spend at least $50 to get a better return on your investment from donuts per dollar perspective. So as it stands, even though the buildings are random and you might get a stinker (like Asia de Cuba or the Natural History Museum), it's still a good deal. And it's a better deal if you have all 11 of the premiums already, since the average value of a Lard Lad Donut or a Ferris Wheel is 112.5, making the dumpster worth 688.5 donuts.

I've been doing some redesign of my KL. I have trapped all of the KL customers on a looped path around my Duff Pavillion and the concert venue I built, so I no longer have to go hunting around to find them. (BTW, there are exactly 30 customers in KL.... knowing that makes it easy to confirm that I've tapped them all when I go over there).

I am going to be making KL looks as much like the old King's Island from the 80's as I can. The Food Needle will be the Eiffel Tower in the center of the park, the Tooth Chipper will be the Racers Rollercoaster, which will be far left as you enter. Food vendors in Oktoberfest, kiddie rides far right, etc. I will have to design around the Duff Venue, because I really like it, but otherwise I'm kinda looking forward to seeing what I come up with.

(1972 Map, spoilered for size...)
Spoiler:

But first for me, I need to finish buying up all of the land in Springfield so I can relocate my Blue House farm to the far southern inland corner and free up space for the premiums I'm going to buy with my donut dumpster.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

The update on Friday added a "Premium Stuff" icon and sub-menu to the Build (hammer and saw) sub-menu.

It's a just a short-cut to the Gil offer.

Ah, hadn't logged in for a few days so I missed it Friday. Took our almost-3-year-old daughter camping this weekend (her first time and it was a blast!).

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Kept putting off the Gil deal and finally decided to go for it... and I can't do it. Tried to update my wife's old iTouch so we could get the iTunes gift cards that I received put into a brand-new iTunes account and then onto her device after downloading the game blah, blah, blah it is way too late at night to worry about this stuff. It's only a game. I can't find an easy way to spend my money. Oh, well.

My corn is ready for you to tap, neighbors!

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

This game can be really annoying. It's been forcing me to download the 335 MB update just about every other day, and when I'm on vacation away from my home computer, it's tough to keep deleting stuff to make room. I ended up locked out of the game for two days until I could offload some stuff to my laptop, and in the meantime I missed out on the Gil deal (had sort of decided not to bite on the premium-building deal anyway).

Oh well, at least I'm back in business just in time to tap story's corn (once I finally found it)!

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Thanks, david. I should say where it is. When you land in my Springfield, go almost due east until you hit the forest by the prison. You'll see my trusty corn guard, Kirk, flailing on a pole.

Let's find out for sure if it corn truly is (still) stackable or not.

Story,

I can't tap in your corn. It's not available. Everything else is. I tapped in your News Channel building.

I visited story again but couldn't tap the corn so I hit a couple other buildings instead.

In better news, I got two random donuts for this round of neighbor visits!

Lately I'm hardly visiting neighbors because ever third or fourth town makes the game crash. It's really annoying.

Re: The Simpsons: Tapped Out

It seems today is the day.

So plan accordingly.

I'll have everyone free around 10 am PST. I was actually in the middle of sending everyone to jobs last night and my game crashed. Restarted the game and saw the update, I couldn't believe it, thought that maybe was the new level. Fortunately it wasn't.

Some people says it's going to be a store update. And of course some say there's no update coming today. It seems a new Gil deal is coming for sure.
