Which you can delete when you are done playing the game. Who plays 10-15 games at the same time? I install all my 360 games, beat them, uninstall. No biggie.

Strange they didn't say cpu speed. Seems like everyone expects it to be same as ps4 (1.6ghz). Still a chance it'll be faster than that?

Technically the Xbox One will play used games too. PS4 just didn't say anything about a fee.

Good show. They said that it wasn't gonna be many games on it, that's E3. System is sold!

yes I would love more awesome exclusives, but no they're not fucked. Sony has a lot of exclusives and they don't sell and hasn't helped them this generation.

I think that option can be easily eliminated by requiring the game to be inserted into the console to play.

On the actual sale of a game though, how much money goes into Microsoft's pockets actually? Think about the fact that when a game comes out it is $60, but not a month or so later can be on special for $40 for example. A store will obviously take a hit in their pockets when they sell games like this but I'm going to have to assume not a negative one though. Imagine they still might get a very small profit. My point being this, how much does MS themselves actually get in the sale of a game? Then not to mention that since it is used they have already received some money already for said game. Would the "used" fee we have to pay be really that much then? If it is say about $5-10(more than that would be insane IMO) then while it would irk me I would just adjust my spending amount accordingly in what my price point of purchase is for example of "used" games.

Not sure which one you're looking at. The one on no BC for retail or XBLA games cites Marc Whitten. The one on the fee for installing a game from a disc that's already been used by someone else cites the Wired article, which claims that info comes directly from Microsoft as part of their exclusive first look.

"Update: In a post answering "top questions" about the Xbox One, the official Microsoft page notes the system "does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet." Additionally Microsoft notes that in the case of pre-owned software, the Xbox one is designed "to enable customers to trade in and resell games. We'll have more details to share later." The Q&A makes no mention of the fees confirmed by Microsoft to Wired."

I hope they don't do that with mandatory installs and a fee to install a used disk. I'd rather just create a library of GoD titles from games I've bought.

Edit to add: This will basicly kill game rentals.

Used games can also play on the Xbox Juan.

I'm curious if there will be a way to "deactivate" a game from your account when you're done with it. Probably not, but that would more or less solve the problem.

From the Wired article, Microsoft seems to confirm 1) once a game's installed, you don't need the disc, 2) a game must be installed to play, and 3) the fee thing for using a disc someone else has already installed.

Yeah, there is that. Although with Steam PC gaming is much easier than it's ever been, and cheaper than console gaming to boot.

Also consoles are getting to be more of a pain in the ass than PCs

We'll know when they announce something.

Just spitballing here, but I'm thinking they have an agreement in place with Gamestop and maybe some other key retail partners, Best Buy, etc. If you want to trade-in a game you've installed, you have to take it to one of those partners. They pop it in and connect to Microsoft's system, which notes that the unique serial number for that game is no longer associated with your account. At that point, you can no longer play the copy installed on your hard drive unless you opt to pay whatever fee Microsoft charges, which is probably MSRP. The same fee would be charged if instead of taking it to a Microsoft partner, you just sold, traded or gave it to another individual. But, whoever buys the copy you traded in can use it like it's new.

That would likely be enough to keep me onboard, but it'd still be irritating. Two or three times a year, I go through my games and pull whatever I've finished or given up on and am not interested in replaying. I check half.com, Amazon, Best Buy & Gamestop, then trade or sell across whatever channels offer the best return. For anything more than 6 months old, half.com is always the best option by a substantial margin.

That seems to be the rumor right now. I wouldn't exactly call it confirmed just yet. But, if they're saying that you have to install a game and the disc then is meaningless, then yes there's going to be some kind of fee.

^ Which is dumb.

Ancient tech, but I still wish they wen't with a jump drive(or hell the HDD or cloud) that stores "key" data. The hard drive version won't play w/o the jump drive plugged in. Once you sell the game and someone else pops it into their drive it could render your cd key as old rendering your hard drive version unplayable until the next time you pop the disc in. Then it puts a new key on the jump drive making your HDD version viable again without the disc.

This way the disc is still loanable and wouldn't allow two people to have working copies of the game at the same time.

I keep Halo, Borderlands & Rock Band on my current 360, plus 1-3 current games I'm playing.

Assume games are around 30GB, that's a couple hundred GB already.

XBLA games will no doubt get bigger as well.

500gb when TB seems to be the standard in PCs these days is a misstep.

I wonder how much of the HD is already used up by the OS / apps required to make all the tv stuff work.
