All I need from MS at this point is an Xbone controller for the PC.

Someone posted elsewhere that when he announced that the system was coming out in November the crowd started clapping and when he said $499 the clapping stopped. lol!

Re: Xbox One: This Thread Requires An Always On Internet Connection

$499 is what I was expecting originally so no big surprise, it'll do fine at that price level. No clarification on a lot of things though which is a bummer.

That was nearly a flawless press conference, and Sony is going to have a really tough time following it up!

-Metal Gear also on XBOX...that was a huge kick in the nuts to Sony, as that is basically their only good "exclusive" announced thus far
-Killer Instinct and Dead Rising are exclusive to XBOX
-Tons of new studios and new IP's, including lots of Indie looking stuff and Japanese developers
-Battlefield and Titanfall both look pretty good
-Halo!
-Twitch support and live streaming is a HUGE deal
-Love that Smartglass is finally being implemented usefully into games.
-PS+ ripoff of free games to gold users (finally!) ad the ability to share gold to anyone on the same console is fantastic news.
-Release date and price confirmed ($499 is what was expected, but $399 would have been amazing)

All they missed on showing was a new Banjo game to make my gf happy, but other than that they nailed it!

Did they say if D4 was a launch title or "later?"

yeah the new stuff impressed me. that was a shock.

Very solid press conference. A bit too heavy on the pre-rendered stuff, but plenty of in-game footage of other games as well. Titanfall just looked absolutely amazing. And those of you saying Battlefield 4 looked like a 5 year old PC game,. Get fucking real. The level of particle effects, physics, and lighting, were definitely beyond a PC game from a few years ago.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I'd drop $600 on it on day one if the only other negative in your list was the forced Kinect. I've been hungry for an upgrade from my 360 and PS3 for a couple years now. Hopefully Sony knocks it out of the park (relatively) this evening. Microsoft's certainly set a low enough bar for them. Pretty much all they have to do is walk out and say, 'Hey, it works just like every other console you've owned, but it's a lot more powerful.'

When was Metal Gear announced as a PS4 exclusive? I had always read "next gen consoles"

so, this was essentially:
"Here's our console. It' plays games!"
"What games does it play?"
"All of these ones!!"

Yet, people are still complaining.

I had never seen anyone mention XBOX for anything dealing with the new Metal Gear Solid 5 game. I think everyone, myself included, just assumed it was like MGS4 and Sony exclusive.

I still wish that MS would announce an on demand rental service of some sort. If that happened I could get over this DRM and 499 price point much faster. I enjoyed 75% of the games they showed and even they games I won't play look stunning.

Gotcha. There's been a lot of crossover with the MGS series, and now that they can't complain the 360 is shoehorned by capacity restrictions (DVDs) I just assumed it was all multiconsole from this point forward.

Thanks, not sure why a normal search wasn't working. Pre-ordered today as a placeholder, even though I don't know if I'll actually get it.

Don't get me wrong though, the core gameplay still looked like the same old "run around and kill guys" gameplay, but with an extremely nice dressing over it. The level of immersiveness was pretty incredible. But then came Titanfall, holy fucking shit, that looked awesome.

I placed an order. I'm guessing I'll probably end up cancelling. But I wanted to get it locked in just in case.

I just preordered as a placeholder too. Worse case scenario, I buy and then cancel. At least I'm locked in somewhere.

I kept trying to click on the placeholder but it would not work for the last 30 minutes but found the correct link thru video games/xbox one.

... Brother got it pre-ordered!
