Some of my MS fanboy friends are now wailing about how this sets the industry back several years.

As I suspected, they listened to the bitching and did what they had to do.
I didn't really have a problem with it to begin with, so the XO is still a purchase for me. I trust the development of games in this platform more than I do on the PS4 - and I expect a lot of PC game ports coming as well. |
Re: Xbox One: Full Reverse!
While it's good to see MS reversing course on some things, I don't think this would be happening if Sony had gone along with the new DRM scheme. Thus I think Sony deserves to be rewarded.
In addition, they haven't resolved my aversion to Kinect and its resulting price increase. Drop the Kinect. Drop the price. I will get Xbox One as my second console. I wonder how the proposed "We Are Watching You Act" would apply to Kinect. |

now, if only we could get BC!

Seriously is there a blog I'm not following? Why are all the Xbone fanboys saying this?
I'm guessing everything that just got reversed can be turned back on pretty easily in the future, when people have been gradually eased into the changes. |

Also, the systems will share almost all of the third party games with the odd token or timed DLC thrown one way or the other. They are just too similar. The WiiU is probably a better option. At least there you'll get some Nintendo games and some off the wall Japanese stuff. |

Sony thought MS was gonna dig themselves such a grave that they could get away with now charging online in the face of the overwhelming negativity towards MS. Now MS reverses their policies and the negatives of the PS4 become more apparent. I really don't like either console at this point. And MS really pisses me off as they're the ones always trailblazing the new methods of charging consumers in every way they can conceive of. Sony follows suit when they see the opportunity to. This is all assuming the rumors are true ;) You are paying for better performance as well - they already tried going the free route and we all know how that turned out........oh and, |

Well, it's the idea that in place of innovation the XBox One will now just be the Xbox 360 2. Same thing with prettier graphics. I think there's some merit to that, but all the drama is kind of amusing.

I feel that if Nintendo did the same things MS tried, people would embrace the hell out it and call them revolutionaries. I truly hope MS can implement at least a sliver of what they were trying to accomplish back into this system and set it apart from the rest, at least gradually. |

Pretty much what I was getting at. We lost innovation and a change for the better in the gaming industry, to cater to the masses who bitch about almost anything. Instead of new ideas involving an always connected system, we can go rent a game from redbox or hand the disc to a friend. Do we really value those things so much that we hold back an entire industry and shit all over the visions of a company?

Why wouldn't Sony charge for PS+?? It's only 50 bucks a year. Don't wanna pay 50 bucks up front? Then pay 17 bucks for 3 months at a time.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??
Right but.....you do have to remember they have not yet announced the other online services that are coming out (more apps obviously)...hey, I know not everyone likes that stuff but that's they way it goes.
Their network will be improved though as well - I know it's seems frustrating to read that now but, I honestly think they would have to charge at some point. That's just my worthless two cents and uh, as a 'previous' xbox owner.......50 bucks is much cheaper to me ;) |

For the same reason they didn't charge last gen? It's an added incentive to go with the PS4, and considering that imho they shouldn't be charging for online play at all (another shitty trend MS started), i'm naturally against it.
but whateva, I just like to bitch :P I agree with you. PS+ is a good deal for people who use it. The model they use this gen as a premium service is fine, but keep basic connectivity for multiplayer free. I already pay enough for my internet connection as it is. What's next, paying to use YouTube, Facebook, etc...? |

Oh and uh, trust me....I'm not against anyone at all for being pissed about now being charged a fee....trust me I get it.
I just honestly think it costs money to provide that kind of service........or maybe I don't know what the hell I'm talking about at all. |

I just think it's funny that everyone complained how much more expensive the PS3 was when it was released, when I know for a fact my idiot co-worker with a 360 paid more over the life of his system and didn't even have a BD player to show for it.

$400 + (8*$60) = $880 when all was said, and that's ignoring the fact that they'd have to buy their own BD player |

And then with the Wii U, they were pretty criticized for that huge controller, and sales haven't been exactly blowing people away. So please tell me why Nintendo would have been able to pull of that DRM scheme. |

If MS took the stance that hey, the always online thing is optional, but you're going to love the new features (game sharing, cloud computing) so much that you'll want to turn it on, I think things would have gone over much better. I mean if things are so revolutionary and the dumb masses just don't know it, why not take the time to convince them? |

There's far more to the differences in the consoles, exclusives, community, and personal preferences than just saying "PS3 = X360+BD, idiots!" |
