"Microsoft has confirmed that all Xbox One games will require mandatory installation onto the system's hard drive and, to install the same disc onto another user's drive, a fee must be paid."

Well, that's that for me. It was fun Microsoft.

Looks good! 500gb is more than enough room, I don't understand all the thumbs down for that. I use maybe 25-30gb of space and thats only because of Rock Band. 100gb is plenty for a gaming device, 500gb is insane.

500 GB is not more than enough when you are talking about mandatory installs of games that will probably ship on Blu-Ray media.

The TV stuff is neat, but I don't even have a cable box so I guess I'm screwed unless you can screw the coax cable into the back, which I don't think you can do. BC is useless, so again I don't care...I have a 360 for that. No used games would be the worst feature, but we shall see on that. Overall, much tighter and better than the Sony event, and we saw the system. Sign me up for a preorder.

500 GB sounds great until you start to think about HD Video and mandatory installs of games coming on Blu-rays. I'm guessing it'd quickly feel small. And the Wired article says the Hard Drive is unique, specially designed by Microsoft, so there goes the hope of swapping out for something larger on the cheap.

yikes!! no used games? Will the PS4 be the same way?

That's how you reveal a console.

Yes, there are stills lot of things they have to work on, but they are o. The right track.

I wonder about the price but I think they can deliver for $499.

You can still buy used games all you want. You just have to pay Microsoft a fee when you go to play it for the first time.

Also, the first Kinect could track you in the dark. It didn't use the camera to track you, it used all those little infrared lasers.

Does not work for me with any of my games, perhaps if my room is bigger it could then? So this is big news for me.

Also from the Wired article is this tidbit.

"This time around, a 1080p camera enlarges the sensor’s field by 60 percent—a fact that the entertainment division’s lanky hardware guru, Todd Holmdahl, demonstrates for me by walking his 6′ 4″ frame toward the sensor. Even 3 feet away, the Kinect’s onscreen display clearly registers his entire body, and he still has room to lift his hands above his head."

Right now I need a Nyko Zoom on my Kinect and extra lighting just o be able to use it in my limited space so this is very interesting news indeed.

And if Sony does essentially the same thing? They've been coy in their answers on this topic so far.

I wonder if the on-screen fantasy updates will have my opponents' scores as well. The idea of watching my players' highlights is great.

TheVerge article just says "Microsoft says", that isn't how you cite a source.

Wonder if GS will adjust their prices down?

However, they will still get the clueless moms, dads and grandparents who come in to buy used games thinking they are getting a good deal.

If Sony does the same thing then I just wait on getting either new console until I've entirely exhausted my current library. Or I find something else to do. Microsoft wants me to watch TV, maybe I'll just do that.

The only way it makes sense is it it's MSRP. Say it's half. Two dozen people chip in on a copy, pass it around and all get the game for 46% off. No way they leave that option open.
