Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
Did you get to hear or see anything about Zoo Tycoon?
And if you have a chance, would you be willing to go into more detail on Ryse? I keep hearing that it isn't just a QTE-fest but I haven't yet heard what it *is* then. |
Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
Yes, I am actually interested in some Zoo Tycoon feedback as well. And yes, as a former GS manager, the expo is pretty shitty. I can't believe they started charging admission to it for the public, as it is very tiny.
Side note, just rad your PS4 impressions and I pretty much agree. They may have come out swinging at E3 but I think they had to do something to get some early adopters, as the console is extremely weak so far in comparison to the X1. |

In the co-op portion of Ryse we played, you were lowered into an arena and had to pretty much kill everyone that stands in your way as well as complete specific tasks (like light specific areas of the arena on fire). The gameplay was very reminiscent of any third-person game you've ever played before (Y to block, A to attack, etc.), but at specific points when the enemy is low on health, you can hit the B button and it puts the game into slow-motion (like as shown during the gameplay videos we've seen so far) and gets really graphic. I'm talking about head stomping, throats getting slit, and if your partner hits B at the same time, some fun double team action. It was very cool. Now I don't know if the actual campaign well be as fun, but time will tell.

Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
I read that they removed all the button prompts in Ryse and now the enemies glow a color that corresponds to a button. Seems a bit better than the huge QTE button icons, but i'm still not sure about that game.

MS has been working on this console for at least a year. Announced it 6 months ago. Revealed some tv & sports shit 4 months ago. Showed some games and more shit at E3. They showed some more stuff at Gamescom. They announced long ago it was due in November. Point being, they aren't announcing a product and then saying, "buy it next week!" It's been a year long announcement with no end date. Where do you draw the line?
It's not a double standard because they are two vastly different approaches to launching a product. |
Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
Matthew, how did the vibration in the triggers feel? Was it a significant difference from previous controllers?

Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
So far the Xbox One is the only system I have games preordered for. Hopefully we get some Battlefield 4 footage soon on the system. Really can't wait to get my hands on that controller.

COMPANY LINE! Oh wait...
Xbox One’s touted voice commands will only work in 5 countries at launch August 29, 2013 9:00 AM Microsoft plans to launch the Xbox One console in 13 countries this year, but only players in five of these nations will get to use the device’s voice commands. The company recently posted a “Get The Facts” blog on Xbox.com that goes over the many features of the next-gen hardware. Whenever it mentions the voice features that control the box, however, it refers to a clause in the fine print that reveals that functionality won’t work in more than half of the nations it will launch in this November (via NeoGAF). Xbox One’s voice commands will only work in United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, and Germany. Microsoft plans to launch the Xbox One this year in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, United States, and New Zealand. What’s weird is that Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand are all largely monolingual nations that primarily speak English, and Australia, for example, doesn’t have any official-language laws that would prohibit Microsoft from releasing a console that doesn’t understand the Australian Aboriginal languages. Austria, like Germany, is a German-speaking country. We’ve reached out to Microsoft for an explanation and will update this post with any new information. Xbox One is due out in November, but Microsoft has not set a firm release date. It will retail for $500 and comes with the Kinect 3D camera that also takes the voice commands. Using those speaking features, gamers can turn on their consoles or quickly switch between games, apps, and television. Read more at http://venturebeat.com/2013/08/29/xb...0tSjekyrLi5.99 |

As a friend who was at the Expo pointed out to me last night, all of EA's games were being demonstrated on XOs. |

Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
Probably a smart move. Better to add countries over time than to have people struggling to get it to work and badmouthing it as a result.
I personally can't wait for the Francis vs Kinect video. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/b2xDKEWMYqQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

So apparently LocoCycle (which for some reason reminds me of Extreme G) will be $20.

Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
The Mountain Dew/Doritos contest points whatever thing is live: http://every2minutes.com/
Isn't this the same game from the 360 launch? You bank a bunch of points from tops and packages then wager how many of them you're going to put into the pool to win a console? I vaguely remember how that one worked even though I'm pretty sure I was obsessed with it. |
Re: The Ironically Thoughtless Xbox One Thread
Yeah.. that's how the last few went. You get points from pop or chips.. Enter them in your account and then you can use the points to win chances at various prizes. One point per chance.
