I know that I'd do the $10 "rent" for a month option with Assassin's Creed IV and Madden 25. Not sure if I'll even bother with Call of Duty Ghosts.

I'm only a fanboy for Nintendo, and like Microsoft, they've kind of lost their way lately, so I empathize with the frustration.

I'm also a "Sony guy" who has been extremely disappointed in the PS3 hardware (but not the software), so I started this out as neutral as anybody could be in terms of "I'm going to pick one of these two boxes, and with no BC, I don't really care which one."

From there, the X1 had the most...umm..."interesting" console launch of my lifetime, so I enjoy the discussion about this interesting launch. I called you pro-Sony before (in those words) and you got upset and said I was calling you a fanboy. And this isn't the first time i've heard you claim neutrality by referencing a 360 purchase, but if I recall you also said you owned one for a week before getting rid of it, which isn't the best example if you're trying to convince those of us that think you're biased. I haven't been following closely, but have we heard from, say, the Madden development team? The Madden that was available at the launch of the 360 was prettier, but nowhere near as refined as the previous gen's offering, for instance.

I hate to re-visit the so-called "MS Spying on us" segment again but saw this story today that...well to me continues to raise a flag and slight concern anything MS.

Apple’s Tim Cook, tech executives meet with Barack Obama to talk surveillance

http://www.politico.com/story/2013/0...362.html?hp=l3

President Barack Obama hosted Apple CEO Tim Cook, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson, Google computer scientist Vint Cerf and other tech executives and civil liberties leaders on Thursday for a closed-door meeting about government surveillance, sources tell POLITICO.

...The administration’s outreach began Tuesday, when chief of staff Denis McDonough and general counsel Kathy Ruemmler convened a privacy-focused huddle in the Roosevelt Room. Joining them were representatives from the Information Technology Industry Council, TechNet and TechAmerica, which together represent a diverse swath of the tech industry — from major defense contractors to companies like Facebook, Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. The American Civil Liberties Union and the Electronic Privacy Information Center were also present, sources said.

MS and other technies might not have a choice as long as Obama is in office and we've got 3.5 years left...just when the new XO is coming out. It's not MS I'm concerned about; it's Obama, NSA and all this forced spying. MS might not have a choice but in any account I'm betting they're getting paid as well. And it's not just MS...it's Google, Facebook and Yahoo...all of which seemed to be tied together using each other's services and all friends of the Goverment...how convenient.

If for some reason this stuff really causes you concern about the Xbox One, i'd be curious if you're currently browsing the net on a Windows or Mac computer, use an Apple or Android phone or tablet, or have a Facebook account.

Frankly, I think any major tech corporation operating in the US is going to be cooperating with the government in spying on us, so I doubt Sony will be any better.

Yep, just posted something along those lines in the PS4 thread.

Upset? From a post on this forum? Not likely.

Please cite where I said I wasn't biased. We all have our preferences, and you seem to be holding me to some ridiculous standard like I'm a journalist or something. Of course I'm pro-Sony, but not solely pro-Sony. I'm extremely pro-Nintendo, and I was pro-Sega, and I'm even pro-Microsoft when I think they are doing something interesting and not trying to screw me over. Ironically (for a monstrous MS-hating fanboy), Microsoft is the only one on that list that I've owned all of their consoles (no Sony handhelds, no WiiU/3DS, no Saturn).

This isn't directed at you, as I appreciate you at least engaging in a dialogue like an adult...

It's just a console, and it would be nice if folks would lighten up about it and get over their persecution complexes. Anybody with eyes can see that MS have screwed it up in a whole variety of ways, but they are also fixing a lot of their mistakes, and they certainly aren't in any worse shape than Sony was with the laughable PS3 launch because they aren't burdened with bad hardware.

re: Xbox One: We said WHAT at E3??

MS will only "screw it up" if the finished product sucks. Who gives two shits about the behind the scenes stuff? I don't. E3 never really impresses me. It's all about how well a system works and the games in the end.

I haven't seen any blatant display of MS screwing over the consumer anymore than Sony. Sony's silence, for my money, is just as "bad" as MS talking too much.

Upset is obviously a figure of speech since it's based off text, but like I already said, in the E3 thread I called you "overly pro-Sony" when you were disagreeing with discostu's positive Xbox comments and you responded by saying "save your fanboy accusations." That sort of response sure sounds like you were irked by the assertion and disagreed with it, no?

And i'm not holding you to any particular standard, and I don't think anyone else is either. I think people just notice that you're clearly a Sony guy based on your post history, but comments about how you owned a 360 (again, for a week) or saying there was an equal chance of you buying a Xbox One (when you've posted numerous times about how Microsoft has had no good exclusives since 2007, or how much better the PS4's titles look, etc) just come off as phony and like you're trying to use those to justify some sort of neutrality when you make any negative comments. Let's just say it's no surprise that you were the one to complain about articles having a "bias" against Sony, or to thank Sony for every change Microsoft makes. Sorry if it's not true or your intention, but that's the way it comes off. Repeatedly.

I don't think there's a persecution complex at all, as there are others who have openly given up on Microsoft this generation here that hasn't drawn any ire. I don't like feeling like i'm railing on you or keep you from expressing your opinion; you just seem genuinely confused as to why you've gotten negative reactions in this thread, and to me the reasons are obvious.

Sure I disagreed, and I was at worst dismissive of the idea, but not definitely not irked. It wasn't my first day on the internet.

I've never said "equal chance", as I definitely lean toward Sony, but I stand by the fact that I was a persuadable customer until May 21-June 11.

360 hasn't had a lot of great exclusives lately, but I think 2008 is a better cut line, and I've never said "none". You may not think it's a fair statement, but I'm happy to defend it with data, and further, I think it's the most important distinction to make when predicting the relative merits of the two companies going forward. So yeah, I prefer Sony exclusives and they have a ton of great studios, but that's only one of many datapoints. I can't emphasize enough how disappointed I've been in the PS3 hardware (architecture, controller, store, YLOD, updates, installs, cross game chat, etc.), and I consider that in my decision making as well.

I also don't think I've ever said that PS4's titles look better, though I think they might in a few years. I'm generally underwhelmed by the launch exclusives on both systems (and all other launches really). They both have about 2 announced exclusives that interest me (Infamous, Planetside 2, Titanfall, Spark...maybe Knack when it's cheaper). The only X1 game I've ragged on is Ryse, but only because I detest QTEs.

Let's just say it's no surprise that you were the one to complain about articles having a "bias" against Sony, or to thank Sony for every change Microsoft makes. Sorry if it's not true or your intention, but that's the way it comes off. Repeatedly.
There was really just the one article, and it was a genuinely poor piece of journalism (one source contradicted by many sources and largely recanted after getting clicks). I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the first to respond to just about anything right now, as I'm pretty active in both threads due to having some extra time on my hands for personal reasons. Maybe my mere presence makes me a good surrogate for all of the actual "fanboys" and "trolls" out there, but it doesn't make the accusations fair...especially from guys like discostu and Deftones. :)

Fair enough if you truly believe your opinions have been justified, in the end i'm just saying you're not any different from those that are firmly in Microsoft's camp or the couple of guys here that are clearly Nintendo.

I can't eliminate exposure, but I can limit it.

The PS4 will not have a camera/microphone required. X1 will not run without Kinect plugged in. You can only turn Kinect "off" via software. If I could unplug the Kinect, I might buy X1 after the price drops.

Going into this year, I had every expectation that I would be buying the new Xbox. The original DRM was a sticking point. The mandatory Kinect is a sticking point. The extra $100 is also a detriment.

Just got this email from Xbox Live regarding my current family gold account.

As a valued Xbox Live Gold member, we'd like to thank you and your family for being part of the Gold community.

We continually evaluate our offerings and are always working to provide services that best meet the needs of our customers.

Starting August 27, 2013, we will be converting each activated account on your Gold Family Pack to an individual Xbox Live Gold membership to prepare for new upcoming features on Xbox Live Gold. Rest assured, each individual membership will work on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Through the new Home Gold feature on Xbox One, a single Xbox Live Gold membership will allow anyone in your home to enjoy many Gold features like multiplayer, access to Gold entertainment apps, and more on your Xbox One.*

As a bonus, we will give each converted individual Xbox Live Gold membership from your Gold Family Pack an extra 3 months of Gold (in addition to the time remaining on your membership term).**

Before your memberships convert, you can still add family members to your Xbox Live Gold Family Pack, for a total of up to four accounts. However, any unassigned secondary accounts will no longer be accessible after your conversion. Please be sure to update your secondary accounts here.
After your memberships convert, the only Gold Family Pack features that will no longer be available are activity monitoring reports and Microsoft Points allowances. Activity monitoring reports will deactivate at the time of Gold Family Pack conversion, whereas the Microsoft Points allowance feature will no longer be available after the next Xbox 360 system update. Xbox Live family settings, including parental controls for what your kids can access and play on or offline, will still be available.

More Info >>

We hope you enjoy your 3 bonus months of Xbox Live Gold and continue to benefit from your Xbox Live Gold memberships on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Sincerely,
The Xbox Live Team
I was hoping to be grandfathered in with my current 4 gold accounts but looks like that $99 a year ride is over. At least they gave me an extra 3 months for each account.
