Saint's Row is a bad mutha...shut your mouth...I'm just talking Saint's Row.

I'm playing as a dudebro...with an Aussie accent...in a bikini...with a mohawk...wielding a giant purple dildo. Hilarious game is hilarious...and free on PS Plus.

re: PS4: All the latest updates, such as...umm...uhh...hmm...

I've never given much thought to the PSP or Vita, but hardware based remote play of all PS4 games has me interested...along with free Vita games on PS Plus. So I started looking with the intent of maybe getting my kid one for Christmas.

If I can get one before Christmas for $199, that wouldn't be too bad, but what the hell were they thinking on the absurdly overpriced proprietary memory sticks? That alone might keep me from buying one. Given the options for SD or even Sony's own memory stick pro duo (which the PSP used), the only reasons I can come up with are cynical fleecing your customer reasons. It's a very Microsoft move, and it has me kind of down on the Vita in general.

The memory cards has always been the downside to the Vita. It's a great product otherwise. I'd suggest looking on eBay. You can get good deals on the system and cards if you don't mind used.

no doubt you'll find it before christmas for $199. I got mine through amazon BF for $199, w/ 3 months of plus, 2 games, and a 4gb memory card (which is pretty useless), got the 32 and have loaded tons of games on it.

That is actually a very Sony move, since they seem to always have proprietary memory cards.

With PSP, there was still some possibility that they were competing with SD, so that wasn't so bad. In this case, SD has already won, and if you don't want to use SD, you already have a sensible proprietary option in pro duo that your most loyal customers already have. It just seems cynical to create another one.

In terms of PS3/PS4, Sony has been anything but proprietary. Everything is USB/Micro-USB/SD/Bluetooth/SATA compatible. That's why this move sticks out to me.

I'll keep an eye out for a bundle with memory included.

Vita - Proprietary Memory

PSP - Same

Cameras - Same

I believe TVs and other electronics were also the same.

Terrible analogy in that every other memory on you list is Memory Stick, which they intended to become the industry standard, and Memory Stick is manufactured by multiple other companies.

In the case of the Vita, that memory card is ONLY meant for the Vita and to date is ONLY manufactured by Sony.

I'll take your point, but there is a difference here. This feels to me just like Microsoft with the 360 hard drive.

PSP and Sony Cameras share the same propriatary memory card format, the Duo. So as chess said, based on that history, there was no reason to believe they would create a new format just for the Vita.

Yeah, it's an annoying flaw.

But keep an eye out at Best Buy. They have the 16 GB on Clearance for $29.99 which isn't great, but isn't terrible either.

You're (understandably) forgetting about the proprietary memory card that was inexplicably required by the equally forgettable PSP Go.

The PSP Go was ahead of its time. No cartridge, DRM-based downloads, everything cloud oriented.

It's amazing and a shame the Vita had to screw it up by offering both physical games and offering its full library as downloadable.

Always editing your posts...

There's a good chance I never own any game on Vita that I didn't get for free on PS Plus.

If I get one, it will be strictly for that and for streaming from PS4.

The Vita is fantastic. I have at least 15 games for including plus free bees. P4G is mandatory. Soul Sacrafice is good too.
