I still think late October, you really don't want Battlefield and Call of Duty on current gen first.

I don't care about the date either. It'll be here when it gets here.

I'm not too concerned with the date; I'm just happy I got a pre-order in before they sold out.

Xbox One, PS4 help Amazon post biggest preorder week ever
The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 helped the Amazon Video Games store post its biggest preorder week ever, the retailer announced today.
During "peak demand" last week, Amazon customers were ordering more than 2,500 Xbox One and PS4 consoles per minute, the company said.
Amazon also noted that E3 week preorders for Xbox One and PS4 led to a year-over-year increase in console orders of more than 4,000 percent.
In addition, day-one preorders for the two consoles was almost two times that of all video game sales during Black Friday 2012, Amazon said.
The Xbox One is currently the bestseller on Amazon's game chart, though the PS4 has five SKUs in the top twenty, while Microsoft has just one--the Xbox One Day One Edition.

This thread is boring compared to the Xbone thread.
Tons of drama over there...confusion...speculation...rumors.
Here it's "Yeah, I'm not sure what to make of the UI".

That's one really really optimistic way to look at it.I'd file it under clarity of message: Here's the box, it has better hardware than theirs and looks better, we improved the controller, we're working on a bunch of fun games, we're developer friendly, indie friendly and consumer friendly...and we're $100 cheaper and available now for preorder.
Since then, they've mostly just stepped back and watched Microsoft step on their own dicks.

Spoiler:
The PlayStation 4 will feature 802.11 b/g/n wireless network connectivity, Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX and 1000BASE-T), Bluetooth 2.1, and two USB 3.0 ports.[14][26] An auxiliary port will also be included for connection to the PlayStation Camera, a motion detection digital camera device first introduced on the PS3.[14] A mono headset, which can be plugged into the DualShock 4, will come bundled with the system.[32] Audio/video output options include HDMI and optical S/PDIF.[14] The PlayStation 4 does not have an analog audio/video output.[33]
It's disappointing they aren't going with 802.11ac.

Looking at the Wiki page of the PS4 I assume this is good news but since I don't have a PS3 to compare I'll let PS owners chime in....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_4
The read-only optical drive will read Blu-ray discs at 6x CAV for a maximum read speed of 27 MB/s – a significant upgrade from the PS3's 2x speeds that were capped at 9MB/s. To further enhance optical drive performance, the PS4 will feature a hardware on-the-fly Zlib decompression module, allowing for greater real-term bandwidth, whilst at the same time, the console will continuously cache data onto its hard disk, even buffering unread data when a game isn't actively accessing the optical drive, forming part of Sony's PlayGo strategy.
Early reports indicate that the Blu-ray Disc drive will not be capable of reading quad-layer 100 GB discs, a new Blu-ray Disc technology designed to support 4K resolution. Although the console will support photos and videos at 4K resolution, the system is not expected to be able to render games beyond 1080p. The console will include a 500-gigabyte hard drive for additional storage, which can be upgraded by the user.[31]

The slow disc reads were one of the reasons why some PS3 games had such large installs and/or load times, so hopefully this fixes that.
Wait, does the PS4 install the full game on the HDD too? I know you need the disc to play it anyway. One of the things I hated about the PS3 was that when I had an hour and wanted to play a new game, sometimes it would take 20 to 30 minutes to install to hard drive, load up the updates, etc.

I am looking forward to some more UI stuff and seeing party chat in action.

Meh, not a big deal. Just replace it with any other generic headset you have like, I presume, the Xbox one. It's not magical proprietary tech in that 1/8" plug.
Shouldn't matter because it's only for game chat, right? The other chatters are speaking into a mono speaker with no L/R direction relative to you.
