re: PS4: Games you don't want, but it's $100 less! (11/15)

Here's what's happening here:

Sony PR: "Welcome to Sony. We love you."
Hardcore Sony fans: "OMG yes! Sony loves me! Man, know what would be awesome? A PS4 and a Vita TV and two controllers. I bet Sony will do that for me because Sony loves me. They do. They really do! They said so! So, that bundle will happen. It's a no brainer. Because Sony loves me."

PS4 must need the help if you post non-stop about it day in and day out posting wild predictions for a product that hasn't even been released.

I absolutely do, but the symbiotic relationship between PS4 and Vita/Vita TV is a great selling point for both systems.

I speculated on what a bundle might look like. You guys are acting like I said it would come out next week or something.

No, I think you understand that Vita and Vita TV are two different devices and are trying to get a rise. Not interested. Thx.

Both Vita TV and PS4 will help the Vita platform.

Of course I understand that. I'm asking how taking a loss on a Vita TV bundle helps the Vita. Legit question.

Yeah, that's exactly what's happening here.

As a side note, for mods or whomever, I wonder if I could get away with posting something like this...or would ten people jump down my throat?

I'm posting about a product that I'm buying and am looking forward to. You don't see me trolling the WiiU thread do you?

Not getting in the middle of whatever's going on above but I will say this. I thought remote play would be a gimmick with the WiiU but man I've used it a ton. If the Vita works as advertised for remote play and let's me wander more than 15' unlike the WiiU (which I'd use more if the range was better), I might be in the market for one. I played most of Pikmin (80%) on the tablet and all of DuckTales and Rayman so far.

But the vita box to play vita games on the tv? Zero interest there.

This made me laugh in a pot/kettle black sort of way, that is all.

It's just a Roku / Apple TV that can be used to stream your PS4 games in different rooms, I see the Vita / Download games as additional features more so than primary purposes. The tablet controller is cheap on the Wii U but I agree it is the best feature on that system, I played all of NSMBU on the controller screen.

How about for playing PS4 remotely on the bedroom TV, kid's room TV or while traveling?

Granted, you can do the same thing on the Vita handheld, but I like the idea of a controller and full TV screen.

While traveling? How would that work?

I guess it'd depend on your internet connection at home and abroad, though since you can turn the PS4 on remotely to download titles, it seems logical that you could turn it on remotely and play games on it through the internet.

Seems like it'd be a perk if you bought your games digitally. I see it as wizardry for now.

Well, until Sony says something about how you'll be able to play your PS4 games on the go via a Vita or a Vita TV no matter where you are in the world, I'm not going to consider it a selling point. It has plenty of other selling points they've actually mentioned that are attractive enough. Again, I really think people are getting their hopes up over something that, if true, is going to require the perfect storm of outstanding internet connections to make functional.

It depends on what bitrate the video would be streaming at, the rest would be about low ping times for responsive controls.

@ 1:30, what do you see on screen?

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/u-JdJxcdBEc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'm not surprised you would be skeptical of this technology, but it's really just compressed/decompressed video and controller inputs.

I'd hope they'd just Gaikai it, look at what you have on your acct and let you play PS4 games anyhwere.

Though, at that point, there'd be no reason to own a PS4.

Yes, we've been over the video. What I want someone from Sony TO SAY IT. If it's a Hiroshima-sized megabomb, then announce it. Not 5 seconds in a Japanese video and a coy response on Twitter. SAY IT. ANNOUNCE IT. Will I be skeptical until someone says it's a thing in reality? Yes. Yes I will.

Vita out-of-house Remote Play, Sony's version of the Microsoft "Sharing" non-announcement.

So an actual advertisement with video of a Vita connecting to a "house" connecting to a PS4 won't convince you, and the fact that you can do it now on PS3 won't either. Got it.

And there was nothing "coy" about the tweet. Can I remote play from PS4 to Vita outside of my home? Yes, if your internet connection is good enough.

You accuse me of being overly optimistic, but you are in denial of the patently obvious.
