Yup, you're right... and he's only available in the Nitro variant in the 2-pack. So if you're getting the 3DS set, you'll be doubling up on one of them. Oh well.

Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack, which includes:
  • 1 Video Game
  • 1 Portal of Power
  • 3 Skylander Figures (Wash Buckler, Blast Zone, and Ninja Stealth Elf)
  • 1 Character Collector Poster
  • 3 Sticker Sheets with Secret Codes
  • 3 Trading Cards
  • Skylanders Swap Force LightCore Grim Creeper
  • Exclusive Skylanders Swap Force Magic Triple Pack (Mega Ram Spyro, Super Gulp Pop Fizz, and Star Strike)
That Walmart super pack looks ok (basically your getting the lightcore Grim Creeper free), but why does it show a release date of 11/5?

Does anyone know if all of the first run sets have the lightcore Hex figure included in the box, or are they separate?

That Joystiq article is wrong. I can't link to the official TRU press release but a quick Google search will bring it up.

Only Legendary Free Ranger and Lightcore Grim Creeper will be available at launch. Dino-Rang isn't even mentioned as being a variant so it could be as simple as an exclusive re-release of the SSA figure.

Walmart changed the price to $99.96 and there is no longer a Wii U version for pre-order.

I'll stick with my Dark GameStop edition...right? Shit, I have no idea what's going on with Skylanders anymore.

The problem with the Magic 3-pack is that those 3 figures are in the first 3 triple packs already. You end up paying about the same when you factor in you need to buy 6 singles to get the same 9 characters.

Dark Edition is a better bet.

I'm going to forego the black edition and get the regular versions for 20% off each plus the $10 off Frito Lay coupon. We are getting both the PS3 and 3DS versions with 6 different figures for close to the price of the dark edition for only one console. I will also use the TRUS 20% off coupon a few times during the day to pick up some various figures.

There was at one point as that's the version I preordered in-store. I noticed that it has since gone out of stock on Gamestop's web site. Just another way that the Wii U is getting shafted. Europe didn't even get the option for Wii U Dark Edition.

What 20% off coupon are you referring to? (I have the Frito-Lay one)

Still can't post links but if you go to TRU.com and check out their weekly ad section they have a big brands online catalog with a bunch of coupons including the 20% off a Skylanders item.

Sorry I didn't get back on here any sooner. I have had to teach classes from about 11:45 until now. If you can't find that coupon then let me know and I can email you the pdf file with it and a bunch of other coupons. It even has a 20% off Disney Infinity coupon in there.

I see the mention of Save 20%, but I can't find any link to the coupon. What am I missing here?

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Any chance TRU would take both the 20% off, and the Frito Lay $10 coupon?

They should as one is manufacturers and the other is from the retailer themselves. I guess we shall see.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Also, the buy one get one 40% off sale on games and figures has been confirmed. I am planning on buying both console games and trying to use the 10 off coupon for each of the copies as they are manufacturer coupons. It would come out the same as using the 20% off coupon on each one. However, if they give me a hard time then I'll split them up and use a 20% off and a 10 off coupon for each one. We shall see what happens.

Is it too late to get the Hex deal through Toys R Us? If the 20% off stacks with the $10 off coupon at Toys R Us, and I can get the Hex figure, then I'll skip my Target preorder.

No. I went in last night and talked to the Rzone associate. The pre-order cards were still available so I grabbed one ($1), and asked about the coupon stacking. She said the normal policy is a manufacturer coupon, and store coupon stack, but she didn't know if they would have a disclaimer sign about their 20% off coupon not working on Swap Force. The coupon supposedly was intended for Giants, but the wording doesn't reflect that (nor does the expiration date).

I will find out at midnight I guess. If for some reason they only allow one I'll push for the 20% off coupon as I figure even $59.99 at launch is the best price I'll see. Some of the TRU figures are supposed to be $2 higher than retail so I don't know if I'll buy anything but the starter pack.

She did also say that the backroom was so full of Swap Force stuff that you almost couldn't walk through.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Yeah, just got back after getting a preorder card. The guy checking me out told me the 20% off coupon was only for what was pictured, which doesn't make much sense since the wording includes figures and packs along with the starter shown. He said he didn't know if the stacking would work either even if the 20% off worked. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

What about the buy one get one for 40% off plus the manufacturer coupon(s)? They really shouldn't play hardball with the 20% off as Disney Infinity has had multiple occasions where you could get it for 20% off or 25 dollars off since it was released.
