Did you get it used? Because otherwise someone opened it and played with it... not that it matters much if it's complete and you're happy.

Did you play with them on another *save file* first? They only show up automatically on the first file they are played on. For any subsequent save files (2nd/3rd/4th/etc.) you have to take ownership before they'll be added to a collection. Even if a figure is in your collection you can take ownership on another save file and it will still appear in your collection. It's a royal pain but it's to keep a friends figure from automatically appearing in your collection on your system.

The Adventure Packs work in a similar manner. Once the main item is put on the portal in a game it's no longer needed in *that* save file for the level to appear. But if you wipe out the file or start another save file you'll have to put the item on the portal before it'll show up.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

My son is just starting to get into Skylanders Giants. Now I'm starting to hit the stores regularly looking for the rare versions of the figures. The release schedule of a new game every year kind of sucks from a collector's perspective. The shelves have to be cleared to make room for the new figures.

On a related note, just saw a press release that McDonald's Happy Meals will have Skylander toys starting this Friday.

I played the game with my kids and it's not that bad. I have fun looking for different characters in the store. If they added jumping to the game it would be perfect.

If you go to the happy meal site, you can see the toys that will be out.

I'm sure my grandson will be all over those in spite of the fact that they do *not* work on the portal/game. If nothing else he'll want a Chaos for general play and I'm sure it'll be the hardest to find for that very reason.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

We should network if we decide to collect these as well. I'm happy to swap with others if we have trouble locating some. And it hadn't occurred to me, but yeah, that's the first Chaos figure!

My daughter got Chop Chop in her happy meal. It has a little button on the back to push for some true chopping action.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Thankfully my father works as a district manager/supervisor for McDonalds and said he'd get a bag of the figures for my son. I can't imagine trying to collect a full set of these otherwise. It seems that each time we go to the nearby locations we get the same figure from a toy line over and over again.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

My grandson was excited when I picked him up from Sunday School - he'd gotten a Tree Rex (I didn't tell him about these but I *did* tell his great grandparents who took him by yesterday). I mentioned Kaos and he was "meh" until I countered with "I thought you'd like one of him so your Skylanders could beat up on him when you're playing with the figures." He replied "Good point... I hadn't thought of that." Guess he'll be looking for one of those now. Tree Rex is cool, fairly large (larger than I'd expected) and his hand lights up when a button on his back is pushed.

My youngest got a Tree Rex from one of his friends. It is bigger than what I thought it would be.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I went to McDonalds on a whim just to get one this weekend. First bad sign was that they still had the Croods up. But instead, I got some ancient Clone Wars toy. Guess I'll wait a few days.

Just take the toy back and ask them to exchange it. Something similar happened to me, but they had given me one of those Young Justice skateboard things. This was at lunch time. I swung back around in the afternoon and told them my son wanted a toy from the new promotion. He looked in the Happy Meal bags and it just so happened they were filled with the new toys now, so he swapped it for me.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

I just cinched it for you all...

Amazon US will get Scarlett Ninjini and it will be abundant. How did I do this? I just ordered one from Amazon.de for $22.93 (after shipping and conversion from Euro), that's how! The way things generally work for me in such instances is they'll go on sale in the US the day mine ships and everyone will get one for ~$15 or less *before* mine arrives.

Of course I'm mostly OK with this as if it doesn't go Amazon exclusive and I have to purchase locally or worse (TRU) it will only cost me ~$6 more this way in a worst case scenario. If TRU gets the US exclusive it's actually *less* expensive for me to do the international order after the higher price TRU will charge + higher shipping + sales tax.

I thought the rumor was that scarlet ninjini would be at all retailers in mid / late may? It went on sale at amazon.de a couple months ago.

I've read the same thing but no one seems to know for sure. At this point it's worth the extra few $$ to not have to drive around looking for one. Since it's one of the last to appear I'm half way expecting it to be like Wham Shell and only a few will escape the warehouse at MSRP.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

For anyone with a Fry's nearby, they are having a sale on Giants three packs for $12.99, almost half price. Grabbed the one with Hot Dog, Zap S2 & the Scorpion Launcher. In four weeks, for his birthday, I'll give him that, Eyebrawl, Thumpback, Ninjini and Jade Flashwing. Then thankfully I'll be done. At least until the new game.

Re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Also, at McDonalds I discovered that they actually have nine toys, not the eight on display. I found a Drobot toy that I'd never seen before. Now I just need Gill Grunt. Of anyone finds an extra, please PM me. But I'll keep searching.

It's the last week of the McDonald's Skylanders promo, and I don't think I'm going to get them all. The last two McDonald's I visited had run out of Skylanders and were substituting the old leftover toys from earlier promos.

Currently I have:
Tree Rex, Spyro, Gill Grunt, Drobot, Ignitor

Still looking for:
Chop Chop, Crusher, Jet-Vac, Kaos

In my extras pile, I do have a Gill Grunt and a bunch of Spyros. Decker, if you have any extras of what I am looking for and want to do a trade, I'll hold the Gill Grunt for you. I'll probably try to visit a different McD's and see if I can at least score Kaos.
