Bought the 360 version last night at TRU. The cashier gave the 20% off coupon a good look over (I assume he was reading the fine print), but scanned it and the Frito Lay coupon and they both came off automatically.

Did you grab any extra figures? Any early impressions of the game itself? We are heading to TRUS in a few minutes for the 8 o'clock opening and grabbing the PS3 and 3DS versions then heading back home and hitting the bed for a bit. I plan on grabbing a few packs of characters as well.

Gonna grab a Wii U Dark Edition...and that's probably it. Comes with 5 figures + free Hex...so I should be good.

Is there a wireless Wii U Portal? Or something that would work with it?

Damn I need to stay away from this. I still have boxes of unopened skylanders and giants figures in the basement. Maybe if it goes for $30 on BF...

At first they were not going to let me use all three coupons (free Hex counted as one), but the manager eventually did an override for it.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Just got back from TRU. Went at 9; it was empty but open. It turns out their Buy One, Get One 40% off deal was so good that I skipped out on my Best Buy 360 preorder and picked up the 360 version (second to last one on the shelf) along with my preordered 3DS version at TRU instead. Used two $10 off Frito coupons and got both starter kits (with six unique figures) and one free Lightcore Hex figure for $98.98 + tax in one single transaction. Great deal, but I'm going to have buy another figure or something in order to qualify for that free exclusive figure.

We got two Lightcore Hexs for free but I was able to swap one plus about a dollar difference for the Lightcore Grim Creeper.

I think Activision got a lot of grief from people who don't understand wireless tech (and have trouble reading/following instructions for same) and couldn't grasp the concept of rechargeable batteries for the portal so they just went wired on all consoles to stop complaints. I much prefer the wireless myself and we've not had any trouble with ours using rechargeable batteries.

There were jump pads that would launch you.

This game looks way better than the previous versions.

Just the 3DS version had jumping.

I haven't even played Giants yet...

Took the kiddos to check out Target's supply. They looked for a few minutes and were ready to move on. No longer interested. My wallet breathed a sigh of relief.

my kids will be getting it (the game and the system) for Christmas) so once we've got it out and set up I will.

By the way, my 4yo son and I played 10 rounds of Battle Arena on the original game tonight. He beat me 3 of the 10 games. He was happy!

The original is still fun!

I actually like the design of most of the new characters. I think the game is a worthwhile addition and I like that they added the ability to jump to all of the characters throughout the series. The graphics are a huge improvement as well as we have the PS3 version.

Sorry for the late reply. I only played the first level after getting home from the midnight launch (which was a mistake since it ended up taking a little over an hour). I thought the gameplay was good, felt like Skylanders with the ability to jump. I was surprised by the large number of different elemental/movement gates in the first chapter. The only extra character I grabbed so far was Enchanted Hoop Loop at Walmart. Rumor is TRU was getting wave 2 early again, but no confirmation on that headed out this morning to look.

I didn't have a coupon for Hex. I just showed them the pre-order card and receipt and I think he adjusted the price on Hex. I'm sorry now I missed the week or so when they were doing the second free figure for pre-orders.

re: Skylanders, Anyone?

Just an FYI for GS's Dark Edition. The $10 chip promo coupon doesn't scan, I couldn't use it :-( Also, the Hex figure is not free, the cashier has to do something to make it free (the guy said told me there's a corporate e-mail on that). It's a bummer that I can't use the $10 coupon!
