Is the update automatic or can you say yes or no?

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012
You can say no, just like with any XBL dashboard or software update, but you will be disconnected from XBL so your online progress won't be saved with the Gearbox servers nor will any achievements you earn be reflected on the XBL servers until you reconnect.
It's for online consistency and an anti-cheating mechanism.

Odd...mine are on the same account, and as best I can tell, it doesn't matter how I bring the other player in as long as controller one doesn't open the box. I farmed for about 45 minutes last night, and I had the silliest pile of purple on screen. You have to take the crap out of the gold box, or it won't close, so I had it all discarded on the right side. Edit...dude on video makes it look more complicated than it is. My player one never moves, and it's 10 button presses between cycles to bring in player 2.
I start in Sanctuary with my Level 9 Assassin. Press start, turn on 2nd controller, press X to join. I then press Triangle to select character, choose existing character, and I then select my Level 17 Siren. Player 1 presses X to resume, Player 2 confirms the Level 17 siren choice, and then I'm in the game. Player 2 (Level 17 Siren) moves to Gold Box but it says I can't afford to open it.
Is this what you've been doing? Or did I do something different?
(Also, copying a save to another user account and then trying to bring that in apparently doesn't work on the PS3.)

Nevermind. Just did some research on the ol' interwebs and learned that you have to have premiere club access for the 2nd player to start with a golden key. I haven't redeemed mine yet, so that's why it's not working for me.
edit: And apparently it doesn't work anymore post-patch today.

I wouldn't be surprised Gearbox might implement "patches" more frequently this time around to curb certain glitches or obvious...cheating...than they did the first game. Some might get a bit pissed or upset but at least they won't be anal about it like COD and get you banned from the game.

For some reason I still can't get this to work.

I am still on my first key, for what it's worth...not sure if that would make a difference.

It's probably for the best anyway. I'm doing a playthrough now with the Mechromancer where I use whatever guns I get organically, and it's really a more interesting way to play. Farmed gear takes the appeal of searching for loot out of the game.
Mechromancer is a ton of fun. I'm using shotguns, which I never do, and just running into fights with reckless abandon, knowing that if/when I die, the robot will likely get a kill and revive me. It's odd, but it's the closest I've come in this game to the way I played Lileth in the last game.
That said...she is straight up "easy mode".

I still won't get this until it's on the cheap, but it looks like the original Borderlands may be in my sights in a shorter time frame than Borderlands 2 if someone can answer me this question:
What's the difference between Borderlands: Greatest Hits Edition ($20) and Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition ($30) besides the above Amazon prices for new copies?

GOTY has all 4 DLC.

So this happened tonight:
Me (looking at quest list): "Does anyone know where 'Ore Chasm' is? ... SHIT! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
I, like a 12-year-old, literally laughed hysterically for about 10 seconds. Once I said it out loud, it was all over.

But I'd also say that if you are going to spend $30 on the first game, that you should just drop the extra 20 for BL2, because the multiplayer interface is so much better and people are still playing it.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012
To clarify...I'd recommend either getting a used copy of the first game (without the DLC) or simply moving on to the second game. If you're going to pay $30 for the GOTY, you might as well pay $50 for Borderlands 2.
I just looked on Amazon, and they have the first game in "Warehouse Deals" for $15 with free super saver shipping...just look in the used section here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=all
And despite what I said above about multiplayer, I'd be willing to roll a character with you the first game.

I've been passing this low level pistol between my new characters, so awesome from like 8-16. It shoots out 6 bullets like a shotgun each shot.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012
Well i couldn't resist just trying out the Mechromancer last night waiting for the friend I've been playing with. About 15min in the game he joined and was already Level 5 with his Mechromancer. We stayed with it and made it to Santuary at Level 10 & 11. Playing with two was pretty intresting and full of action. We'll pick up again tonight.
We joked about what it would be like with 3-4 of these especially at around Level 22-25 and at certain points like the Slaughterhouse. It would be pure insanity. So if anyone has one already at level 8-10 and see us on, you're more than welcome to jump in. We're on around 9:45-10:15 central.
Note - We both did the patch of course and no issues but seeing the screen about installing "Compatibility Mode" almost sent us a scare.

Same thing happened to me. She's a lot of fun to play in that the Deathtrap liberates you to just dive into fights with wild abandon like I used to with Lileth.
I've been using her skill tree on the left, which is solid but kind of bland, but the more I look at the center skill tree, which looks like electric armageddon, the more I want to give that a try instead. An electrical explosion every time I reload, combined with close quarters and a shotty? Yes please!

I have not gone back to the game since I have been playing Resident Evil....so the word a while back was that this character had one tree that was nicknamed the girlfriend mode...since it was suppose to make the game easier...those that have played with this character, have you seen this? K&AJones and chess you both seem to indicate this..

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012
I think the skill tree on the left could be considered that...lots of health and shields, a cooldown skill for the deathtrap, and a skill called "close enough" that ricochets up to 50% of your missed shots off of the environment and toward the nearest enemy.
But really, she's kind of an easy mode anyway, because the game is mostly structured into short encounters, and that robot lasts a long freaking time...long enough to get you through most of them. I played to level 13 with her last night, and I only died once, and that was just dumb recklessness.

I'm concentrating on the middle skill tree and then the left one. I've got to look at the Anarchy ones a bit more since there is some trade off. Shield and health are way to important in this game which is one reason why I like playing Maya. The middle tree helps build and utilize the "Mech". Plus her mods will play an important role as well.

Is the only way to get dual turrets (using Commando) to fill all the other attributes up completely on the Left Hand skill tree?
