Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

Well Buy.com just canceled my Loot Chest. Got a $10 credit in return. That'll be good for a 1600pt card.

That leaves my Loot Chest at Fry's. I doubt they'll pull through either, but I had more faith in them than Buy.

i guess it's cheap enough to change it if i don't like it. god i'm pumped for this game.

Why did they cancel....over ordered the Chest?

And I'm certain now I'll just go ahead and do two characters at once....Maya and Salvador. That way I'll be able to help out either in extreme firepower or support thru using the Phase Lock and healing.

Gearbox only allotted the Loot Chest to GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon. Other retailers have been taking orders assuming they'd get some.

So is Fry's in play or not? That would be bad...two stores and no Loot Chest.

Probably not. I don't have my hopes up. In fact I pre-ordered the regular game at BB to at least get the $20 credit.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

i wish they would release a PC demo. i would rather get it on the PC, but I never know how well my laptop will run things. My laptop ran The Darkness 2 demo pretty well, but I am sure BL2 is more advanced.

here are my specs for my Asus laptop --- what do you think?

Intel Core i5-430M Processor 2.26 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53GHz

4GB of DDR3 1066MHz SDRAM Nvidia GT325M Graphics Engine with 1GB DDR3 VRAM

500GB Hard Drive (7200 RPM); Super Multi Optical Disk Drive; Wi-Fi 802.11 bgn; Intel WiD

i know some will say --- hey just compare the requirements with your hardware. i am not computer savvy so that is rather difficult for me to do

here are the minimum requirements for BL2 according to Steam:

Minimum:

OS: Windows XP SP3
Processor: 2.4 GHz Dual Core Processor
Memory: 2 GB(XP)/ 2 GB(Vista)
Hard Disk Space: 13 GB free
Video Memory: 256 MB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 /ATI Radeon HD 2600
Sound: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
Other Requirements:Initial installation requires one-time internet connection for Steam authentication; software installations required (included with the game) include Steam Client, DirectX 9, Microsoft .NET 4 Framework, Visual C++ Redistributable 2005, Visual C++ Redistributable 2008, Visual C++ Redistributable 2010, and AMD CPU Drivers (XP Only/AMD Only)

That video card listed with the BL2 requirements is from 2007 I think. Mine is from 2010 -- it would seem that mine would be better, but I have read that laptop gpus are inferior to even older desktop gpus. The processor comparison is difficult for me to do -- i miss the old days of just Pentium 1, 2, 3, 4

What is the native resolution of your laptop? You should be able to play it but probably not at 1080. You should be okay at medium settings.

i am a computer moron, but i think the default resolution on it is like 1368 x 766 or something like that. i am at work right now so I can't confirm that.

and thank you for not making fun of me or my hardware other message boards give replies like "you noob, you need to get new gear your gear sucks"

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

yea i would think you can play it. your native resolution is only 720p anyway, so you should be fine. compromises will have to be made on video quality, but it sure seems like you have enough to get it going. if its sluggish, just throw some more RAM in it. cheapest way to help performance

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

Yeah, I don't need it to run on Ultra at 60 frames per second to be happy. As long as i can get it looking decent and around 30 frames per second I will be fine.

another question -- my gpu is Nvidia GT 325m. is there anyway to find out what the desktop equivalent is? Pretty much all system requirements list desktop gpus. it would be nice know what my desktop equivalent is.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

Reqs for BL2 look similar to Diablo 3. that should give you a decent idea of where you are at. again, you're probably not running D3 at max or ultra or whatever they call it, but i would think you have sufficient specs to play it. as i said before, put in more RAM and you'll be much happier. for some reason i have 16gb of RAM in mine...

I don't actually see your gpu though.

Edit: I see a 210, 310 and 315 so you should be a bit higher than that.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

I had already planned to buy this when it was announced anyway as I loved the first game. Watched the review and am happy with the minor adjustments they made to character appearance as well as no longer having to worry about manually picking up cash. Tuesday can't get here fast enough.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

I was doing my best to wait it out for a $30-40 price on this, but who was I kidding?

Preordered from Amazon...the loot chest worked...and I am a whore.

Re: Borderlands 2: "xbox360/ps3/pc" -2012

I glanced over the review and pretty much what I was expecting...even before reading it. I do believe it'll be a bit more intense, more action, more enemies and more guns.I also like the fact that when working with other players in co-op you can gain extra points by combining players abilities on taking enemies down. Plus in co-op mode it appear they also get a bit tougher.
