I might have posted this way back when but I relate the grunge evolution to the movie Multiplicity. You have the original "Doug Kinney" with the Big 3 of Nirvana, PJ & Soundgarden(and some others on the fringe like AiC, Smash. Pumpkins, etc). As a couple years pass you get the copycats like Silverchair, Days of the New & Bush (competent, but clearly not as good as the original). As the genre goes on you get the copies of the copy, enter Creed's existence. Then a few more years tick by and you get the retarded "Doug" copy of the copy of the copy in Nickleback. |

Well he is a pretty man, I'll give you that, but I think he's too busy being a house-husband to tie anyone down.

I saw the Gavin comments and thought more Bush was announced. *sigh
Also, where the hell is Bruce Springsteen? GH still has that advantage over RB. |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Next week's DLC will be a 3 pack from Stone Sour. You may know them as a side project for several members of Slipknot, but they've also been nominated for three Grammys. Should be a nice addition for folks looking for metal as well as those looking for more tracks from the 2000's. Enjoy! Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (Jan. 18): “Made of Scars” “Say You’ll Haunt Me” X “Through Glass” (All tracks are original master recordings) (These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system Jan. 19) These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “Stone Sour Pack 01” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song. Price: $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song $2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song $0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade $5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points) for Stone Sour Pack 01 Next Tuesday, 1/18/2010, will also be the last scheduled batch of Rock Band Network songs brought over to the Wii. With the smaller online install base, limited demand for releases so far and the significant amount of work it takes for our producers and audio team to convert and process these additional tracks we’re no longer able to continue submitting RBN content to the Wii. Regular Wii DLC, and RBN releases for the 360 and PS3 will continue uninterrupted. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Kind of a drag that there aren't a few random tracks by other artists to go along with this 3-pack. Maybe things are still revving back up 'cause of the holidays?

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
And regarding next week's DLC...and I mean this with all due respect to both Stone Sour and/or Slipknot fans, this could be the worst week of DLC for me ever. In terms of content and in breadth.
Maybe I'm spoiled, but I hope three songs a week isn't the new norm. At least I get to save money and I get to admire my brand new cherry RB Fender. Man, that is seriously one of the coolest controllers ever. Not to mention very heavy! Thanks MadCatz for the epic deal! |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I love me some Through Glass. Sort of a missed opportunity to showcase the keyboard and vocals with Zzyzx Road too. Pass on the rest.
Also disappointed that there are only three songs next week. Sponge Watch Day 1,151: It's getting dark in here. |

I guess I'm officially old. I have no idea who this band is.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Is the Madcatz Pro Fender for $150 with free Precision Bass a good deal? I've been using the Guitar Hero World Tour (Wii) instruments, but they are getting a little beat up, so I was looking into replacements.

In fact I think this song is the direct response to that woe is me Stone Sour song. (via a time machine naturally) Spoiler:

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
RBN1's demise is imminent. Long live RBN2.0!
http://www.rockbandaide.com/10680/ro...-february-15th Hello creators. Today I'm able today to give you some more specific information about the changeover from RBN1 to RBN2. All of these dates are subject to change, of course, but these are currently our best guess, and barring significant issues we are fairly confident that they will remain in place. January 18th - Magma 2.0 Beta Build Available. Early next week we should be able to provide you with an installer for Magma 2.0 This is a nearly-complete version of the program, that will allow you to compile your RBN2 song files, and will connect and transfer to RB3 Audition Mode. Which brings us to... January 24th - Rock Band 3 Audition Mode available. This date is not as solid as the others, but sometime the week of the 24th we should have Audition Mode for you. January 28th - RBN1 submissions cutoff date. On the afternoon of the 28th, we will shut of new submissions of RBN1 content. Forever. This means no new uploads of any songs, even new versions of existing songs. February 14th - RBN1 pipeline shutoff (AKA The Valentine's Day Massacre). On the morning of February 14th we will fail out or remove any songs remaining in the pipeline. February 15th - RBN2 pipeline ACTIVATE! On February 15th RBN2 will be open for business, ready for new song submissions. There are still a number of small pieces to put in place, such as new Reaper Templates, Preview window and Reaper installers. I don't have any dates for those items as they are still being worked on, but with luck we can get the most important items to you shortly. |

(I guess I should have been more specific on my last post. I actually picked up the Fender wooden replica, not the pro guitar.) The replica guitar is really, really impressive. I didn't think it would quite so close to a real guitar...but it is. Money well spent, in my opinion. I also would like to get the pro guitar. I've heard good things about it from many that have purchased it. The learning curve (I have no real guitar experience) is the one thing that keeps me from dropping the cash. |
