If you were asking me, I can't say.
(I guess I should have been more specific on my last post. I actually picked up the Fender wooden replica, not the pro guitar.) The replica guitar is really, really impressive. I didn't think it would quite so close to a real guitar...but it is. Money well spent, in my opinion. I also would like to get the pro guitar. I've heard good things about it from many that have purchased it. The learning curve (I have no real guitar experience) is the one thing that keeps me from dropping the cash. |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
The only problem I have with my wooden strat is that I find the G and O buttons too far apart for my infant hands. When I can reach to hit them simultaneously, I just as often pinch myself under one of them and it won't actually depress. I can't remember the specifics right now, but I know it's embarrassing and annoying.
That may be true of all RB guitars, though, as I used my GH3 LP exclusively until I switched to this. |

It is a real guitar. It's simply gutted for electronics and buttons. And yeah, there are a few of us here with them that swear by them. It's an awesome product. It honestly makes all the other guitars seem like Fisher Price toys.

I am looking forward to RBN songs with keys, tho'. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
My understanding of the RBN 360->PS3 process is that it's totally in-house at HMX.
They basically take the approved track and "convert" it to PS3. What goes into that is questionable, and it may just be MS->Sony overhead. I can't imagine the rolled-out version of RBN would have much impact on the process. |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Even if that were the case, RBN1.0 doesn't have any feature that RBN2.0 won't have. Should be no problem for that as long as you have RB3.
RBN2.0 will not support RB2, that's true, but there's no reason why RBN1.0 can't be converted to RBN2.0 along with the MS to Sony move. |

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Right, I hear you. I'm the king of "technically possible" here and, still, Harmonix disappoints me. You're probably right to not expect it and that sucks.
But I'm sure the content authors will happily re-do their already-released tracks in fancy new 2.0 format anyway, just like big brother. So we've all got that to look forward to ;) |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Speaking of "technically possible", I don't get why they need master recordings any longer for songs. I understand why the master is desired so that each track is isolated but cant they just throw in a CD and isolate the tracks with some software?
They do it all the time on CSI ... so yeah. |

They kind of did that with a couple of the Beatles songs, although at worst, they were working with two tracks, and that was a long, laborious process to get it right. They skipped over the early recordings with only one track -- which would be a very similar scenario as a CD -- altogether. If they could do it and do it well, I'm sure they would. |

Apparently a Scott Pilgrim DLC pack isn't in the cards. Sob!

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
What about Metric's Black Sheep? They're already on the RB3 disc with Combat Baby. That would be my #1 want off the soundtrack.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
I'm not sure. Metric's completely independent now, and I'm pretty sure they recorded "Black Sheep" for their album "Fantasies" and just opted not to use it. I don't know if that means Metric owns it lock, stock, and barrel, or if there's some kind of arrangement with Universal since they're the first company to actually do anything with the song.
In any event, I desperately want a Metric pack. "Black Sheep" is also the song I'd want to play the most, although "Threshold" and "Scott Pilgrim" aren't far behind. |
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Amazon has the keyboard stand on sale for $17.99 (regularly $29.99). Even though I haven't played keyboard much, I might go ahead and get it.

Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
Thanks for the heads up.

But the version in Scott Pilgrim has vocals by Brie Larson, doesn't it? That would make that particular recording Universal's, I believe.

I like the original, but I love the Brie Larson version.
|
Re: The Official Rock Band Thread of Music Game Evolution
If I had to choose, I'd take that version too, but I'd be happy with the original if UMG is the issue.

If "Black Sheep" makes it onto Rock Band, it sounds like it'd have to be the 100% Metric version. In a way, that's too bad because I think Brie Larson's vocals suit the song really well. Aside from the Black Sheep video that was released on iTunes (with kinda lousy quality audio), there hasn't been a separate release of the Clash at Demonhead version. You've gotta watch the movie or go through the extras. |
