I found 3 other players and communication helpful
Just another cyclical topic around here. To each their own. I enjoy this game immensely my way.
Speaking of which, FINALLY getting to the Claptrap DLC since my buddy got it when it was on sale. Not sure what all the complaining was about with it, it's fun! Love when the little Claps talk about seeing three flashing lights when they die

I thought people liked Horde mode in this day and age? Maybe you didn't like the implementation but they were far from impossible even without cheating. Cheater.

Re: Borderlands
We've spent maybe 3 hours on it and we're probably about halfway done. At least it doesn't have Knoxx's forced length with those vehicle, disembark, vehicle, disembark, vehicle sections.

I hated those sections. I also hated having to drive across the various maps to get from taking a job to the actual place.

I started a new game with a Soldier, and I am loving it all over again. I tried the Zombie DLC and man what a good time that was. My next question is which DLC should I play next? My character is level 33 now, and I am about halfway through the main game.
Should I avoid Underdome altogether?

Has anyone been able to complete the achievements in the Clap Trap DLC for collecting 25 offshore cans or the other one for collecting 15 bobbleheads? Boy do those suck!

Re: Borderlands
I camped my character in the shed at the back right and just let the boss run over the clap traps, that way, you don't even need to be there to have the items drop.

Re: Borderlands
I did pretty much the same thing, except I camped between two rocks by the overturned bus after I had destroyed all of his turrets. I connected my controller via the play & charge kit and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, just about the entire map was completely green with items ready to be picked up. I completed all of the collectible achievements and Tannis' last quest and still had a good portion of the map still littered with items.

I have done the farming for several hours and have only ended up with a few bobbleheads. I think I'm about halfway to the number of cans I need. I guess I will do it some more until I get those last two trophies. Thanks!

Re: Borderlands
Yep, I had to do probably 30-40 hours of farming to get all the collectibles for the achievements. Utterly absurd. I loved this game before the multiple horrible DLC experiences, now it's not a game I think back on with fond memories.

Re: Borderlands
what? the knoxx DLC was amazing. i agree that moxxi was tedious and the claptrap dlc felt really lazy. the achievement list was terrible. some of my other problems with the claptrap dlc were resolved by the patch, but i still think they should have just made scaling work throughout the game, rather than after playthrough 2.5. anyway this is still probably my favorite game of this gen

I finished up the Clap Trap DLC tonight with all of the achievements. Now I need to finish the Maddening Moxxi crap and I'll be 100% and done.

Re: Borderlands
Nope, still pretty bad even without taking the achievement goals into consideration, which I do because it's part of the overall experience. There's really just no defense for the Underdome or the drop rate on collectibles in Claptrap (and the developers obviously think the achievements are an important part of the game since said collectibles serve absolutely no other purpose in the game).

Re: Borderlands
Finally got this yesterday.
Played for a couple hours with a buddy who has played through it a couple times already, it was fun. He started with a new character, so at least we were even to start. May have cheated and taken my starting character into a game with his level ~50 character and sold a bunch of weapons to make quick cash for when we started our game together.
Any tips/suggestions? Neither of us have any DLC.

Re: Borderlands
What character are you playing?
Be careful with too much sharing of guns/money from other players. It can take away the fun of finding weapons on your own, which is half the fun of the game.

Borderlands Class Guide for Xbox 360, PS3, PC
Nov 7, 2009 Bradley Kairis
information on the classes in Borderlands? This strategy guide features brief descriptions and summaries of action skills, skill trees, and preferred weapons.
Borderlands is a unique First Person Shooter that blends Role Playing Game elements with intense action. It features online cooperative multiplayer for up to 4 players just like Halo 3. But, instead of featuring an epic campaign like most FPS games, Borderlands features a mission-based, action RPG with experience points, 4 different character classes, leveling up, skill points distributed across three branches, and loads of loot.
The following strategy guide offers information on each of the four classes in Borderlands: The Berserker, The Hunter, The Siren, and The Soldier, with descriptions of the action skills, skill trees, preferred weapons and general strategies.
Brick as Himself (The Berserker)This class focuses on melee strikes and explosives, the perfect class for gutsy players who prefer direct confrontation and don't mind playing a game of high risk, high reward.
Action Skill Berserk (cooldown 60 seconds): With Berserk Brick throws down all weapons and cackles like a maniac while dealing huge damage with wild haymakers and quick jabs, and receiving health regeneration to make him tough to take down.
The Berserker's three skill trees are Brawler, Tank, and Blaster. Brawler focuses on Brick's Action Skill, dealing greater damage with his fists and reducing the cooldown timer. The Tank skill tree makes Brick a difficult target to kill, giving him damage resistances, health and shield bonuses, and stunning enemies with melee strikes. The Blaster skill tree, then, focuses on explosives, particularly Rocket Launchers, dealing more damage, reloading quicker, and even regenerating ammunition.
Brick is the obvious choice for players who like to be the center of attention. Whether through Berserk and melee strikes or through big explosives, Brick deals big damage and stirs up the hornet's nest, allowing other players in co-op play to take advantage of the chaos. When playing single-player, Brick should focus on the Tank skill tree to make him more difficult to take down.
Mordecai as The HunterMordecai The Hunter, the quintessential sniper of the team, offers excellent long-range attack options with the Sniper Rifle and deals massive damage with critical hits (usually headshots), but is threatened when enemies get close.
Action Skill Bloodwing (cooldown 28 seconds): The Hunter sends off a trained Bloodwing to attack enemies. At first, the Bloodwing can only attack one enemy, but this can be upgraded with the Bird of Prey ability.
The Hunter's skill trees are Sniper, Rogue, and Gunslinger. Sniper obviously focuses on Sniper rifles, offering The Hunter incredible damage potential with the longest range possible. Rogue focuses on the Bloodwing, allowing for massive damage upgrades and other perks, such as extra loot drops. And Gunslinger increases pistol and magnum effectiveness.
Players who love sniping will love The Hunter, but only players who can make the most of critical hits by precisely aiming at an enemy's weak point will get the most out of this class.
Lilith as The SirenBasically the "rogue" of the team, The Siren uses hit-and-run tactics to catch enemies off guard, preferring the SMG for quick damage and reload times, and weakening enemies with disabling attacks and finally finishing them off with powerful, elemental-charged moves.
Action Skill Phasewalk (cooldown 36 seconds): Lilith turns invisible and gains increased movement speed for a short duration, along with creating a phase blast to damage nearby enemies both entering and existing the Phasewalk.
The Siren's skill trees are Controller, Elemental, and Assassin. Controller focuses on increasing the Phasewalk ability and disabling foes with stun-based attacks. Elemental adds or enhances various elemental properties for a more damage-oriented build, while Assassin offers the most rogue-like set of abilities with hugely powerful one-hit melee strikes and greater accuracy with guns.
The Siren makes for an excellent choice for strategic players who prefer to jump in and out of battle, positioning themselves wherever the situation calls for.
Roland as The SoldierThe Soldier offers well-rounded weapon proficiencies, along with numerous bonuses to aid a team, making him an excellent choice for players who love co-op games.
Action Skill Scorpio Turret (cooldown 100 seconds): Roland's special ability deploys a turret which provides shield cover and automatically targets and shoots nearby enemies for a brief period.
The Solider has three skill branches: Infantry, Support, and Medic. Infantry creates a well-rounded gunner and focuses the Scorpio turret on dealing greater damage. Support makes Roland a tougher opponent with Shield bonuses and more frequent Scorpio turret drops, while Medic offers the most team-friendly support with various health regeneration skills.
Roland makes for the best co-op play class, especially when focused on the Medic skill branch, but he also works as a reliable single-player class, as the Scorpio turret can be a reliable, though temporary, partner in firefights.
Borderlands Class Guide Conclusion
Borderlands offers a class for every kind of player, hopefully this guide has helped players decide which is the best class for them. The Berserker offers the most direct fighter, The Hunter offers long-range attacks with high damage, The Siren uses clever hit-and-run tactics, and The Soldier combines well-rounded combat skills with beneficial co-op support skills.

Re: Borderlands
i read those descriptions and laugh.
my siren: run up and do massive damage w/ SMG. no hit and run tactics there.
my hunter: Pistols and repeaters. do a crap ton of damage. rinse and repeat. very little sniping here
brick: haven't played in a while but my planned build (just have to level him to 69 from 65) is a bunch of explosive weapons (shotty (blast hammer), cr (ogre), rocket launcher and sniper (cobra)) and explosive skill. should be entertaining

I played a soldier for my first character and had a blast, you can't go wrong with them, though the turret was more of an awkward healing device than anything. I'm sure you can power it up to do some damage, but I play that game to shoot things myself.

Haven't played in a long time but glad others are still enjoying the game. One of if not the best blind buy ever for me. Days are probably numbered with this game though. I've got all four characters at 61 or better and bank slots overflowing.
Hard to pin down my favorite character as all four were fun and each with special talents...didn't really play the Basher or Soldier as much as I wanted. Siren was a blast with her fire walk and maxed SMG's but she also had something with the sniper using elements. No doubt "Bird Man" was fun maxing out with five of his pet birds and that insane 90% Pistol fire rate with ammo regen. Good game...good times
