Awesome deal, but I don't know how many cards I'll be buying after this (long unrelated story) one, and I'm not 100% sure I would get the card from Dell in time. :D

Same. Just watched the trailer and I'd pay for this with body parts if necessary.

Yep, I'll get that one too. Love Splosion Man.

Wow. Times like these I'm glad I don't buy XBLA games very often. I'm in for a bunch of these next week!

I ordered it, but it says estimated shipping is the end of the month. :(

BTW : I think it's NOT Splosion Man DLC. You can see in that image at the IGN video above that there's a Splosion Man arcade cabinet in Capt Smiley's lair. I think it's a couple of levels to play in the extras of Comic Jumper game, in that virtual arcade cabinet. Not that it makes that much difference, but if someone were foolish enough to not already own Splosion Man (and with next week's $5 off sale, there's really no excuse), it looks like you could still play the new levels.

I'm not sure. Twisted Pixel from their Splosion Man Twitter...

@Splosion_Man goes on SALE next week! Get it half-off while you can so that you can play the FREE DLC that comes with @Comic_Jumper!!!
I doubt they would be pushing that you need to buy Splosion Man in order to play the extra stuff. That would seem shady.

There's already a demo for 'Splosion Man, so there's no need for it to be free for everyone in Comic Jumper.

Again, Behemoth already did this for Alien Hominid in Castle Crashers.

Incentive != Shady. It's a slim shady, at worst.

Sorry..I omitted the end of my thought.

I doubt they would be pushing that you need to buy Splosion Man in order to play the extra stuff if in fact you didn't. I think it is going to work as DLC and you'll actually need to have Splosion Man to use it. I think it would be shady of them to say what they did and then turns out you just play the levels in Comic Jumper. (Which I don't see being the case.)

Castle Crashers opened up content for Alien Hominid?

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose

No, owning AH-HD (or maybe just having a save) allowed you to play as AH in CC.

I do agree that CJ extracting new level DLC for SM makes far more sense than including the SM engine in CJ.

But this is obviously about 100 times more awesome and different than that right?

No contest. Just pointing out that it wasn't shady or unprecedented. This was before you freely admitted to having an omission of thought.

Free DLC for an older game via a new game is unprecedented though isn't it?

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose

Well, again, my original comment was based upon a miscommunication :)

I do think it'll be DLC for the older game and not a mini-game in the newer game.

I did not, until now, go so far as to consider THAT precedent, but merely the concept of a developer giving you incentive to buy an old game with something free with the new game.

You're right, for this particular case I can't think of a precedent.

So can we not agree that we should all let Twisted Pixel impregnate us?

Indeed.

I thought The Maw was pretty good and Splosion Man was about 100 times better. If Comic Jumper isn't at least 100 times better than Splosion Man, and therefor by definition 10,000 times better than The Maw, I will be very disappointed in them.

;)

There's a much verbal jargon going on in this last page. I'm getting turned on.

Yeah and I picked up my card at Best Buy over the weekend. It's really weird, I will scour and scour the internet for the best price on "X" game, but when it comes to point cards, I'm okay with paying retail. Not sure why that is.

Do you know if the cards exactly the same except for the codes under the pull tab? (IE, could I buy one from a store and then return the Dell one when I get it?)

I guess for the sake of completeness, someone should put the actual Summer Of The Arcade line-up here :

What can you look forward to this year? Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Limbo, and Monday Night Combat.

Earthworm Jim HD

Limbo

Risk Factions

The Secret of Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge

Space Ark

Limbo

Since Monkey Island wasn't part of the SotA promo last year, I'd doubt the sequel would be this year either.

So the final score is Decker : 1, pinata : 1, Michael Corvin : 1, IGN : 4. I'm seriously bummed that Comic Jumper isn't making SotA line-up; I was SO ready for that game. And Risk Factions looks way better than anything in the actual line-up except Limbo.
