Can I just say that I'm really enjoying Snoopy Flying Ace? It's really fun in multiplayer and really feels as much like Crimson Skies 2 as any game I've seen since the original. I know that the MP sessions right now are full of people trying out the demo and am a little worried that things will die right down after everyone uses up their 30 minutes, but it's seriously fun (if simplistic). I still get a huge kick out of seeing my avatar in a plane decked out in his Rebel Pilot gear. It's especially funny after I get shot down and parachute to safety. If you get a big enough kill streak, Woodstock hops on the back of your plane and shoots behind for you -- he actually got me a kill. Keep killing and you end up flying Snoopy's doghouse. It controlls like crap but is so cool that I don't even care. I was so skeptical on this game prior to its release but now I'm really pleased by it.

I'm loving Snoopy too. Nice Avatar awards too, already got the shirt. Quite a few different multiplayer modes too, although all I've been playing is dogfight.

I played a few minutes of the Earthworm Jim HD trial and ...wow, it's bad. I'm kinda shocked. This is a high profile title we thought might be a SotA inclusion. It was nearly unplayable. I expected a platformer update like Rocket Knight. Not even close. This one has horribly imprecise controls, has a terrible framerate with herky-jerky animations and worst of all seems almost arbitrary in where it lets you jump and where you can't. The busy, ugly backgrounds seem to hide what surfaces are able to be used and which won't, leading to many bad jumps. The gun aiming is also atrocious. The sound is really bad as well -- I'd guess the sound effects are taken straight from the Genesis version. For fans of the original, perhaps it has some nostalgia value, but I really hated it and had to turn it off after five minutes because I couldn't stand it anymore. I kept feeling like this game is the polar opposite of Splosion Man : everything that game did right, this one does terribly, terribly wrong.

I'm really surprised; I had expected to really like this game. Instead, I deleted the demo -- it's just THAT bad.

edit : I see you just bought it M Polo. I hope you like it (considerably) more than I did. As I said, who knows, perhaps I'm just missing the nostalgia factor (having only played the original a couple of times many years ago). I haven't seen any reviews yet and maybe I'm way off base here, but I was expecting the game to be a lot more enjoyable than I found the demo to be.

I would assume this is the same as the game that came out for PS2 (just perhaps an arcade port). I actually did a review on it back then. It's an okay fighter featuring a lot of NeoGeo alumni standouts, but gets lost in the details. If I want a NeoGeo fighter, give me World Heroes or at least some of the earlier Fatal Furies.

If it's as bad as you say it is and if nostalgia is all that is carrying this game, isn't the original on the Virtual Console? You money might be better spent on that route.

It seems my 16 month old bought me Prince of Persia Classic for 400 points. Guess I'll try that out :lol:

I dunno. The only online review so far is from UK OXM and they gave it a 9.0. Maybe I'm way off base and would like others' opinions. But my opinion hasn't changed : I hated it.

And Gameloft isn't shying away from this game. I've received at least two recent tweets from them on the game's upcoming release.
