That's a fair assessment. It's still better than Galactrix or Gyromancer though.

I enjoyed Gyromancer, but it was really just PQ1 with a "twist". Of course, I won it and didn't pay $15 for it so I was much more open to it.

Except that a game like PQ is an ideal portable game, not one I'd want to be tied to my console to play.

I like having it on a console due to my odd setup at home. Basically I have a second small VGA monitor I run my 360 on - so when the family is watching TV with the surround sound I can play games (with no sound) on the second monitor. Puzzle Quest is perfect for this since having the sound off kills those terrible voice bits and it doesn't time your turns.

You'd achieve the same result with a DS.

But the DS graphics are ass.

Honestly playing games on my iTouch has almost made me incapable of enjoying my DS anymore.

:) I can't argue with that. I've had Spirit Tracks sitting here since Christmas and can't put down the iPhone games long enough to boot the DS back up and try it.

The problem for me is I play the DS at home 99% of the time. Might as well save the money and get the 360 one.

Haven't noticed it posted yet, but according to the Coming Soon video on the dashboard, the July 5th Deals of the Week are:

Mega Man 10 - 400 points
Afterburner Climax - 400 points
Scrap Metal - 800 points

I might have to pick up Mega Man and Afterburner at those prices

For the record, it appears you CAN enter a code into your xbox and not have to redeem it. It will tell you what the code is good for but then you can cancel the redemption.

The More You Know.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose

But does that answer your original question as to whether or not the code is still valid?

Hrmmm, Afterburner is a possibility. Mega Man, I have the normal and X collections for my PS2, it doesn't really bring much new to the table. Hrmm, we'll see.

I liked the Afterburner demo, but I read the review in POTM this month and it said they played through the entire game in ten minutes. Not sure it's even worth
$5 for that. Anyone have it yet? Thoughts?

I have it. It's an arcade game that has plenty of replay value. I'd say $5 is more than worth it.

The difference is in "prepaying" the five bucks and getting the bonus and never buying the full content, and prepay the five bucks, getting the bonus, then returning the portion you paid for and keeping the bonus incentive. That does sound like virtual shoplifting or return fraud to me.

PQ2: The map bothers me a little bit too - it seems like it does the same sort of functionality as PQ1, but in a clunkier and slower fashion.

How is it fraud if the company allows you to get your money back but doesn't require you to return the bonus item? That's why it's on them. Shouldn't they just make the prepayment non-refundable?

I've seen lots of mentions on here about the new map and I disagree. I really like the new setup. In addition, I think it's MUCH more accessible to your everyday player with the fact that there's not information overload on the navigation screen. I booted up PQ1 to get some perspective and that thing looked like a mess!

Re: XBLA Thread Part 400 - Pinata's got a brown nose

My thought on all this is the following and how it deals with ethics. The question that just needs to be asked is whether you go into the "pre-order" transaction KNOWING that you never intend to fulfill the purchase of the actual item and plan to instead take the bonus item and get a refund from the start. It is very "convenient" to place the blame on the company for not making the prepayment non-refundable. To me that is essentially a cop-out, or I guess a way perhaps for people to try and justify what they might realize deep down inside is wrong but if the company is too stupid not to put that clause in that they will go ahead and take advantage of the situation.

Agree to disagree I guess. Although I'm not sure that you can lump everyone into a category of "justifying something they realize is wrong" when in fact they would be operating under the guidelines of the promotion setup by the company. How is that on the consumer?

And for the record....I bought Madden Arcade for full price shortly after initial release and won't be purchasing Madden 11 at all.
