That "premium" New Years theme wasnt worth the 2 seconds it took me to download it.Worms 2 on the other hand was a steal at 400 points :)

Yeah, there are two types since last year's dashboard update, standard and premium. They are always having sponsors give away standard themes, which are pretty boring and ugly (some weren't before the dash updates, but now are all obscured and awkward since), but the premium ones have different backgrounds and have your friends list standing in front of something theme-related. They've only given away a handful and they're usually pretty cool. See below:

I just found the most awesome indie game on XBLA that I think a lot of people here would love:


Beat Hazard - At its core, its a geometry wars style, top down arena shooter. Only the game has an unlimited amount of stages, because every song that you have on your hard drive is a stage! Every Album is listed in the game's menu along with the % complete and High Score, and then when you choose your album you see the same listed for each of its songs. When you begin a stage, the track you chose begins. You start out as a small ship with puny firepower shooting space debris, and pick up powerups that increase your power and your music's volume. When you're at your maximum volume and power, you enter the Beat-Hazard state, which creates a "visual orgasm of color and sound". It's pretty awesome for songs that have big loud parts then quiet parts that then erupt back into big bombastic parts, as the gameplay follows suit.

There is a rank up system and Badges (Achievements) you can earn as well. Badges like Survive a 10 min song, and don't shoot for 1 min.

It's 400 points.

Yup, the theme is terrible especially compared to the winter theme last year.

That winter theme was pretty good.

Currently i am using a L4D2 Premium theme that came on the demo disc with one issue of the Official Xbox Magazine.

A premium theme that doesn't even have a special skin for the friends list. I went back to the Borderlands theme from the Xbox magazine disc. Worms was great, but the other two deals were terrible even though they were free.

Grrrr. The issue that had the disc with the Borderlands theme wouldn't play in my 360. I emailed them twice requesting another disc and have never gotten a response or a disc. Frustrating since i actually wanted to see that theme.

Same here. I'm never going to pay for a theme, and I think it is nicer than any paid theme anyways.

Actually, upon further investigation, darkside is right. It's a Premium theme without a special skin for the friends list. The way you can tell is that when you go to your games list, the theme does change. Still, it sucks pretty bad. Pretty damn disappointing.

Fair enough, but at this rate it's highly unlikely we'll see Trials or something of that magnitude as one of these daily deals. And is it really a deal when it is an item no one would pay for in the first place?

I snagged Shadow Complex first thing this morning when it went down to 800. I don't know when I'll get around to playing it, but I did enjoy the demo quite a bit.

It's pretty good like hotshots for 2 bucks it's worth it a lot of gameplay for litle cash.

BTW : Shadow Complex is easily worth 1200 points, but if you can get it for 800, all the better.
