Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I'm glad to see the Cure finally hit one of these games. I'd buy tracks from them as DLC. I'll have to wait for the rest of the tracklist to see if I'll be getting the whole game, though.

This is horrible news. Now these songs will either be unavailable forever for RB or for some undetermined "exclusive" period.
Go away GH, just go away.

I'd definitely have mixed feelings if I stepped into a store and saw Guitar Hero: Cure.
Hopefully they'll have totally sorted out importing previous games by the time this is released. I bought GH5 when it hit $15, but very few of the importable Smash Hits songs appealed to me so I didn't get that, and the few songs from World Tour that I'd play in 5 aren't importable.

"One specific quest challenge we saw was KISS' "Love Gun". As you play the song, your character fires bullets out of his guitar to slay marauding vikings. Fail the song, and your avatar is toast!"
"Despite the move away from famous on screen representations, Bright assures us that you will still hear some familiar voices providing voiceover work during the Quest mode, such as RHCP's Anthony Kiedis as an elven sidekick and Herman Li of Dragonforce fame as Hrrothgar, Ancient Keeper of Frets. These two join the previously revealed Gene Simmons who plays the father of Lars Ümlaüt."

I remember when Brutal Legend was still in the Activision camp, and they wanted to add in guitar support and change a bunch of things. Sounds like this is what they wanted Brutal Legend to be.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I'm with everyone about the post-Harmonix Guitar Hero games being vastly inferior to Rock Band and just...miserable to try and play.
At the same time, though, maybe Activision has realized that there's no real profit in trying to do the exact same thing Rock Band is (and not doing it nearly as well, of course), and I'm sure the decline in the sales of these games makes them hesitant to do the same thing in the same general way. At this point, why not do something batshit crazy like this? I have zero expectations that GH6 will be any good, and what they're describing doesn't sound even a little bit interesting to me, but I'd rather see the series take some ridiculous chances than continue on the path it's been on for a while now.
It'd be like opening a coffee shop next to a really busy Starbucks when all I have is a busted coffee pot and some Sanka. Rather than dish out the same inferior slop when someone can get something better next door, I might as well go for broke and sell something crazy.

Ohh.. I would love to play these songs.... I may get GH6 when it drops in price some. Though I'd really love them in RB.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
That really doesn't sound too much different from the Rock Challenges in Lego Rock Band's story mode--fighting the ghosts or the octopus or whatnot. As ridiculous as it sounds, I don't think I would mind stuff like this, as long as the gameplay itself doesn't change. I'm usually too busy trying to read and play the notes to worry about what's going on in the background, anyway.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
If they think this 'Quest Mode' with Gene Simmons narrating is a good idea, well, I don't know what to say either.

Nothing I need to play, money saved!
