Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
For the Black Sabbath DLC and the existing Kiss DLC, I'm almost tempted to go back to GH5. *ALMOST*
I must also admit, the RB2 interface and automations are getting a bit long in the tooth (although playing the game religiously for a year and a half might have something to do with that too).

Actually, what I was pretty stoked about was Freebird, but then it occurred to me that that is probably already part of the Smash Hits export. Or did they inexplicably leave that off? If it is on SH, I guess that really makes the Skynyrd pack take a huge hit in necessity. Still jealous because I have the other 2 in Rock Band and desperately want Freebird

Most of the songs feel like they are already on Rock Band. They should focus on differenciating themselves, and getting acts like Def Leppard, Scorpions, etc...

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
Gotta love paying $2 for a song that's already been on two separate discs in the franchise. Yeah, the one from GHII is a cover and the one from GHSH is a live version, and this is presumably the studio version, but still. And yeah, the SH version does import into GH5/BH, according to Wikipedia.

I'd say so. Despite my antagonism towards Activision and especially how they absolutely obliterated the GH franchise, I would still admit GH5 is a really good game. I don't like how GH handles vocals at all, but the drums are fun and there's a decent selection of songs.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
The drumming, after the game converts it to the RB drum kit, seems sort of lame to me. If I remember right, I think it's because it puts too many notes on the green pad. And like Hokey said, the vocals are different in a bad way.
The song selection is really all it has going for it, but that's entirely subjective. And it's only gotten me to play it 3-4 times total.

I really dug GH5, GH:VH not so much. I Gamefly'd GH5 and ended up buying it for around $20 a while back. Suffice it to say, since GH isn't my go-to platform anymore, I haven't played it once since buying it. Apparently it was only worth the rental.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I figured for $20, I could play all the songs once on drums and vocals, milk a few achievements out of it, and if I really don't like it, sell it on Amazon and recoup most of what I spent, so I decided to go for it.

Are "By The Way", "Californication", and "Give It Away" albums
Seems simultaneously fishy and depressingly legitimate.
According to details from a survey forwarded to Kotaku, Activision appears to be gauging interest in a Guitar Hero: Red Hot Chili Peppers concept. Similar to previous games that highlight rock bands like Metallica, Van Halen and Aerosmith, the Red Hot Chili Peppers branded version is pitched as highlighting the band's greatest hits and songs from guest artists chosen by the headlining band.
"Celebrate the entirety of the Red Hot Chili Peppers' life, starting with their early days in LA, to their famous Hyde Park concert to their highly anticipated new studio album," notes the purported survey. "Discover the story behind their legendary music as you unlock interviews, retrospectives, concert footage and other commentary."
The survey specifically names albums By The Way, Californication, Give It Away and the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "upcoming studio album to be released in 2011."
The Red Hot Chili Peppers' music has appeared previously in the series, with individual songs popping up in Guitar Hero III and the Guitar Hero: On Tour games. The band's breakout album Blood Sugar Sex Magik appeared as a full album download for competitor Rock Band.
While Activision has prepped us to expect fewer Guitar Hero games in 2010, another band-based release certainly doesn't sound out of the question. We knew about Guitar Hero: Van Halen well in advance of the game's confirmation and release, so an early leak wouldn't surprise us.
Activision has recently taken the axe to large portions of its Guitar Hero development staff.
We've reached out to Activision reps to get comment on the matter, which we're calling nothing more than rumor for now.

Wow, I was playing some RB last night and was thinking it was almost eerie that we haven't had a GH game in 6 months let alone an announcement of one (other than the Tesla, GH6 slip).
No interest in Chili Peppers here.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
Well, By The Way and Californication are. I'd have to get this if it were to happen, though I'd much rather see more RHCP on RB. Hate the whole concept of "guest artists".

No update for this month's GH DLC yet? Ouch. It's almost as if nobody here really cares about GH anymore or something. Weird.

I guess $7 for a whole disc of songs is too much for some people. $5.50 track pack FTW!

My local Blockbuster has some copies in a bin for only 5.99.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
There are no drums/vocals in GH:Aerosmith though. What would have been better is having more than one song included in the GH:Smash Hits, and having them be exportable to GH5.
