That's a good point. Living on the Edge is one of my favorite Areosmith songs, so I might be in for the whole pack.

Band Hero Export Code (360) for $7.95 at Game Deal Daily

I think this is the first time I've ever bought anything for GH that wasn't a disc. But I've gotten tired of waiting for Band Hero to drop from $40, so the export code for $8 was too good of a deal for me to pass up.

So to be clear, you don't need the Band Hero disc? You can purchase the code for $8 bucks, and then with 480 MS points you can download all the songs in Band Hero?

That is my understanding. And most, but not all of the BH songs export into GH5. 61 of the 65 do.

The four that don't:

"Like Whoa" Aly & AJ
"So Yesterday" Hilary Duff
"Beautiful Soul" Jesse McCartney
"Mr. Roboto" Styx

I would buy all of those instantly in RB. Haters gonna hate. Daughters gonna love.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I picked up GH 5 for $9 at Amazon. Is it just me or is it alot harder than Rock Band 2?

Plus, when I play Rock Band 2, I am enjoying myself, and it's fun. Playing Guitar Hero 5 felt more like a chore and it just wasn't fun.

Does it get better?

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I'm not upset about spending the $9. I'll get some achievements from it and then just take it to Gamestop

The GH brand sure has fallen hard though.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I only got 3 Trophies (aka "ghetto achievements") from it before I dumped it. I couldn't take that shit anymore. It was a step up from GHWT, but it still sucked. Hard.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Yeah the charting of songs is just terrible especially on easy/medium. Sure you're using less buttons, but you have to play Every Single Note. Frustrating for beginners as I've seen.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

GH5 was pretty fun, IMO. They made a ton of improvements and it's certainly worth $9.

Yeah, easy seemed like medium to me, real fast and crazy. Beginner was just a long bar.

Lame.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Got a little GH6 info from some magazine's first look..

"Quest Mode"
Narrated by Gene Simmons
Going back to more metal and rock instead of mainstream stuff
Different characters have different attributes that can be unlocked. For example, Lars can go up to a 6x multiplier in his "alter-ego"
Open note sustains
Queen, Kiss and Black Sabbath confirmed for disc

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

That is good to hear.

Both GH and RB have contributed to my growing indifference when it comes to plastic instruments. But getting back to the basics of rock would help me bring me back.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

RPG elements are definitely interesting, but it's weird because it's still about the player's real-world skill and I'm not sure how much difference it can make.

I guess I can see a few "alter-ego" things like:

Looser timing windows
Not needing to strum / match pitch

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

The timing windows can get looser? Then it's jut randomly hitting buttons and getting 100%.

Maybe something that boosts the amount of star-power you get per section? I see all of these things as kind of cool and gimmicky in the short term, but "real" people will never use them because they won't get added to the leaderboards. Or they will, and the leaderboards will be completely fucked because of it.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Assuming that the "alter-ego" is the GH6 version of Star Power, I really think that a temporary loosening is an option.

Leaderboards are already fucked if one character can get 50% more points in that time than another character.

But it really doesn't matter how GH wants to make it more of a video game by adding extra difficulty (over charting) or scoring gimmicks because you're not going to play it anyway.

You're absolutely correct. But at least I can drum up conversation and bring the news. Even if I personally find most of it laughable.

If it's true that Modern Day Cowboy by Tesla is in the game, and not on the RB platform by then, I'll be buying. Maybe not at $60 but, eventually.

If every news bit comes with a dig at the series, I'd say you're better off not drumming up anything

Well, who else would post it then?

For the record, my first post about this new GH6 news had no digs at all.

Hopefully there will be some Cure on Rock Band 3. That's the only band on that list that I'm really excited about.
