Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
However, I liked the challenge stuff they added to GH5, and didn't mind playing through that so I'm finding the same thing here. The first sections of songs have been pretty fun actually. Course I know there's a bunch of stuff coming up that I wouldn't want to touch with a 10 foot pole, so I guess we'll see how it ends up.

Thanks for the impressions. Not that I plan to buy Band Hero or GH5, but it's still nice to hear what other people think of the game.

Whoops. This seems to pack more punch than the Courtney Love thing.

No Doubt Suing Activision Over Band Hero Appearance
On the heels of the game's release, Band Hero's publisher Activision once again finds themselves in hot water as members of one of the bands featured in the game has filed a lawsuit against the company.
TMZ.com has reported that the band No Doubt, lead by singer Gwen Stefani, has filed a suit in L.A. County Superior Court claiming that Activision has "transformed No Doubt band members into a virtual karaoke circus act."
According the the lawsuit, the band agreed to allow their digital likenesses to appear in the game as they performed three of their own songs. However, the band has stated that Activision ended up having them "sing, dance and perform over sixty songs."
Beyond that, Gwen Stefani is upset that one of those sixty songs includes the Rolling Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman," which contains lyrics referring to "having sex with prostitutes." This isn't particularly something that Gwen wants herself to be associated with, even if it's only in digital form.
Based on the suit filed, No Doubt is seeking an injunction that prohibits "the unauthorized use of the No Doubt's name and likeness' in the game" as well as "an undetermined amount of damages."
Stay tuned as we continue to follow the events surrounding the case as they unfold.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
Who is making these decisions over at Activision?
If only they had listened to her music, they would've known that Gwen Stefani is not a holler-back girl and thusly does not approve of prostitution.

I love the fact that everybody dismissed her as cracked out and maybe she actually was onto something and it all got buried by Activision. Was there ever any more info about how that all ended?

I would love to read the contract...but I would be surprised if Activision is at fault...at all. These lawsuits sound like very poor representatin of the artists who didn't quite understand what they were agreeing to...
Regardless..I will continue to enjoy Johnny Cash playing lead guitar for the Go-Go's.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I do like that they charted non guitar parts to the guitar (I am not a musician obviously).
The Taylor Swift songs weren't bad...but there are just a lot of acts I have never even heard before. Young girls should love this game but I am not even sure if that is a market for these games.
I also have an extra PS3 Band Hero ID code for 61 songs for GH 5. PM if interested.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
Activision and Neversoft suck....I'm sure we all already know that, but here is yet another reason why:
In their OWN press release (and on their own GH forums), they specifically posted this: "The week Band Hero hits store shelves, 69 tracks from the acclaimed Guitar Hero 5 will be available to importfor Xbox 360(R) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft for 480 Microsoft Points, on the PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system for $5.99, and Wii(TM) for 600 Wii Points(TM). In addition, 61 of the chart-topping hits featured in Band Hero can be imported into Guitar Hero 5 for Xbox 360 for 420 Microsoft Points, on the PlayStation 3 system for $4.99, and Wii for 500 Wii Points."
They also have this sentence above where they list the importable songs: "Available for download when Band Hero launches on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii."
Well, any reasonable person would take that to mean it will be up and available for all three systems, right? WRONG! Only up on 360...and as we know, PSN only updates once a week on Thursdays, and it did not go up last night....Wii owners are currently being screwed as well....
At least HMX came right out and put a week later date for Lego: RB PS3 importing on their redemption site so you'd know what is up....no one will even respond on the GH forums as to where the promised PS3 and Wii imports are...

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
If you do GH, you pick a platform...either GH 5 or Band Hero...and then you can import the other into the one you choose. You can this along with WT and SH.
So, you lose less songs by using GH 5 as your main platform (as long as ratings for kids aren't an issue).
Because of all this importation stuff and DLC...you can get your GH library to the high 200's I think. I haven't downloaded much DLC ata ll and I am at 200.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
The Band Hero import in GH5 is now up for PS3 owners for anyone (no one?) who cares....
It was pretty big and took almost an hour to download (as the servers are being slammed on it)....still, 61 songs for $4.99 is a pretty good deal (even if half of them kinda suck)....

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
I just wish more of the songs from GHWT and Smash Hits imported into GH5.. The small number of songs really sucked. At least it is good to read that most of the Band Hero songs import.
Was GH:Metallica ever mentioned that those songs would import ingo GH5?
