RB will have a following for years to come. They are doing music gaming right.

ACT on the other hand is treating music and games in general like some whore that they will wear out over the next few iterations and toss it aside when they have reaped everything out of the concept and property.

In fact I believe that is there current mission statement.

RB has an entire network in the works where you can promote and author your own professional music. Something a professional musician would be clamoring over I would think instead of being pimped by Activision.

I really don't get it. I love Tesla, but I don't get these decisions at all any more.
Well from the sounds of the paragraph above, Activision/Neversoft came to them.

Most musicians don't know shit about video games. And Guitar Hero is still a bigger brand and probably more recognizable by the general public, so Activision approaching them probably makes it easy. Unless a bigger stink is made about those Kurt Cobain/No Doubt lawsuits, it probably ends up being whichever company makes a bigger effort.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

After the show, I saw Jeff Keith talking to some fans outside. So, of course, I walked up like a dork and asked him when we would get some Tesla in Rock Band. He replied, "We already do! 'Modern Day Cowboy' is in {looks to another guy standing behind him and asks if it is Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Dude replies Guitar Hero} Guitar Hero." I have a brain fart and think that "Modern Day Cowboy" was one of the covers in an old GH, so I chalk it up to him not really knowing what I was talking about, thank him for his time, and take off. Guess I could have broke this news two weeks early, but I didn't know I had a scoop!

Cool story Imprint.

I shot the tip to Joystiq yesterday and they reworded and posted it.

For those who care, there is a six pack of songs up on the Marketplace that is free for Gold members. I played them and there is some fun stuff in there. Including a long song from An Endless Sporadic.

The indie pack looks nice - but still not worth keeping this series around anymore for me.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Is there really any demand for a Fall of Troy pack??? Not picking on the band (I've seen them live twice as openers for other bands), but I fail to see that pack being a big seller. Or any of those packs for that matter. Man, I'm glad I finally gave up on GH completely.

I read it as Fall Out Boy and just total glazed over it. Don't know the other band anyway.

Ha. If I had GH5 or BH, I'd buy it. (These aren't compatible with GH:WT, right?) I picked up one of their CDs for a friend's birthday a few years ago, and he loves the hell out of it.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Best Buy has GH: Smash Hits on sale for $19.99 this week. (link)

Apparently there's also a BB Reward Zone coupon for $10 off Smash Hits good from 12/7 to 12/20 (CAG)

And there's also the $5 off coupon included with GH 5

$5 for GH:SH sounds good to me.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Damn. I just bought it there last week for $15.

Looks like with those deals you can get MadWorld for $10, which isn't too bad.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

Crazy... I thought $25 last week at Amazon was a good deal. I knew $60 was ridiculous, but I didn't imagine a price drop to $20 (or $10/$5) this fast.

So if I have a $5 RZ certificate (which I do), can I get it for free (or just pay sales tax, or whatever)? Or is the Reward Zone coupon ineligible to be used in conjunction with a RZ certificate.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

I think the RZ coupon will be ineligible because they require a minimum purchase of $10.

Edit: Oh, cool. Looks like they changed the rules. My $5 cert here says that the total purchase must be in excess of the certificate. So, you should be ok because the manufacturer coupon (from GH5) would come off after tax.

$19.99 - $10 RZ coupon - $5 RZ cert = $4.99 + tax > $5 GH5 coupon. So you'd be paying less than 50-cents in tax

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread

If there were to be any problems with the final total, you could always pick up something cheap like a pack of gum or a soda or whatever from the front lanes.

I was done with GH, but I won't say no to $5 for Smash Hits.
